Writing too! The old kdramas came in two varieties: modern makjang or historical makjang. There is a wider diversity of stories and plotlines now. Maybe you liked that stuff, but some of us sure as heck don't. A bit of makjang is ok but not when it's the only option and also when they use the same old over the top storylines, themes, and cliches over and over again.

Acting has also gotten better too, more natural instead of the over the top stuff they use to do before. Once again, that is not "more western" though lol it's just more natural.

Yeah no, I def wouldn't say more "westernized" I would say "bigger budget". Kdrama industry has def changed but it still doesn't feel like I'm watching an American series. The Korean entertainment industry just has more $ now so they can invest in bigger and better productions instead of the amateur looking dramas that use to come out 10+ years ago.
