That's completely understandable! If you don't mind me asking, what were some cons in your book? And I agree.…
Yup. I was rolling my eyes so hard when they made the mother not accept their relationship. Like srysly. why. do. you. guys. do. this. And I definitely understand where you're coming from and I agree that they had a bit of a difficult time balancing out the theme. I also think the way Mark was introduced was kind of creepy like this dude be poppin out of nowhere wherever Paeng was so yeah I did got frustrated at some point cursing at the screen that this dude is a straight creep and that Paeng couldn't see it Lolz.
On the topic of the parent's death, something that confused me was the way the show never had a closure on Paeng's father. Like yes we have an idea of what happened to him but They talked about Mark killing Paeng's mother and their affair but Paeng's father was completely brushed aside even though he was the face of the foreshadowing in the beginning. Him looking distress, sending her away and even his death got more screentime than the mother's. But then when the truth came out it was all just about the mother and Mark. Kind of like the writer just expected us to know that yeah it was a suicide but never really touched on it..? I should've put this point on the cons but I am very forgetful lol.
And Lol. That's thai lakorn being thai lakorn. But forreal like they always put evil music whenever someone is about to do something bad so I know what you're going at. Also that amber wave/dramatic music annoyed the hell out of me Lol.
The show definitely has a lot of flaws the more we think about it, but I still really enjoyed it haha.
My husband in-law drama taught me that Thai dramas can be good. I really loved that one. And i might try this…
Glad you enjoyed MHIL. I'm for sure if you liked that one, you might like this one as well so definitely give it a try. And I agree. Mark is really good at these type of characters. His character here is also very similar to Thien from MHIL but he's more soft hearted here so I'm sure you'll have a blast.
Have yet to watch this but reading this makes me think, "yeap, sounds like a lakorn to me!" XD
Haha, honestly Lakorns just have so many tropes/cliches where you're just like yep that's a lakorn lmao. But I just love them so much better since they're spicier and more intense? Lol.
Glad you enjoyed it too! And yes! let the taste come through! He is really such a cutie and his acting has improved…
since you're on the hunt for them, I'd highly recommend Panyachon Kon Krua the one he did with his gf Kimmy. Very light hearted, fun and funny. And same haha. It's been on my radar for a while now as well.
I watched this and absolutely loved it. It was my first drama with Mark Prin that I have seen. I am now almost…
Glad you enjoyed it too! And yes! let the taste come through! He is really such a cutie and his acting has improved tremendously! Kimberly his gf is a really lucky girl haha.
For me the cons really overshadowed the pros so I didn't like this as much. But this is still nicely written :D…
That's completely understandable! If you don't mind me asking, what were some cons in your book? And I agree. I was mostly amazed by Paeng's journey, reason why I rated it as high as I did. I really just love seeing growth. Edit: and yes! Mark was ridiculously good as Arthit!
Hmm... interesting... Did you claim it with an editor or put it in the [MDL Writers] Article Ideas & Discussion?
I am very new to article writing (I have only written one prior) the way I did mine last time was pretty much just waiting for it to get approved after already finished writing.
As someone who enjoyed the show (i even left a review of my own), I like your review because it gives me a different perspective, but to add on, I definitely had a problem with how Saori Shibuki (the girl that was with them at the beginning) was executed. I haven't read the manga although I heard she was better in there, but homegirl was sexually objectified from start to finish and was made out to be like this evil bitch even though she just wanted to live?
She wasn't an angel either but the villains definitely makes her sound like a saint lol. Girl is in skirt, high heels and carrying a purse the whole time (which blows my mind cause bruh it's life and death at this point. who would wear those shit in this situation. like did the writer/directors think women just want to look good lol. although i could just be trying to start shit up but whatever).
Then she is known to have had sex with her boss for promotion, then later with Chota and then just killed off... when she voiced her reasons for wanting to live. Not even just killed off, she was forced to die against her own will by the person she trusted the most... But the story seem to want to paint her as this selfish person whose death was justified (for a lack of better term).
yupyup! That was how I got into lakorns as well. Through my mom back in the days who would always have it up and…
yes same. Even popular shows back then that rerun had the r scenes edited out. It is slowly progressing but chances are some elements will still live because lakorns being lakorns lol.
Nat should take different roles. He used to be the 1st lead but now it's always as the villains.
He's honestly just so good at these roles but I agree. Being typecast sucks. I remember watching Thong Aek Morya Tha Chalong and he was in there but he wasn't a bad guy. I was surprised lol.
Amazing article! I can tell you put a lot of time in it based on the details and clarity. I agree with so many…
Thank you! And that seems like a fair point. Kob shouldn't have been so oblivious as well because if she wanted to get with you, she would've... there were many hints he just didn't pick off, but then I'm glad he redeemed himself later in episode 10, or was it 9 I forgot. And yeah, MHIL was a roller coaster. Started off with a blast and then it fell down when the hacker storyline started, and then got more exciting again when they were at Myanmar and then of course, it took a dive down the water again after. It honestly is so ridiculous. I hate it when writers/producers use misunderstanding as a plot driving device. Like jesus, just freaking talk to each other! MHIL is a drama that should've ended at episode 12 if only they COMMUNICATE!
MHIL really annoyed me because it was a drama I really enjoyed at the beginning. Whilst it still had flaws I was…
Other than what I already wrote about Muey in the post, that was another thing about her. Like after Thien catches her leaving, it was like a different person was possessing her, and although Thien was definitely an asshat for not making his feelings clear, it was like she just woke up one day, realizes she's getting less than what she settled for and changed into a completely different person. That was when her character lost all sensible direction. It honestly would've been better if earlier on in the episodes the thought hits her and she slowly progresses to get out of being Thien's doormat. But it wasn't like that. Literally the night before, she was head over heels for him, and then the next morning it was like she hated him with every of her guts. And I know they want to pull the "she doesn't want to be used again" excuse but the way she acted was so off from how the actual Muey would've reacted. and definitely. Episode 9 was the best episode ever and my favorite. Everything about it was <33
A really thorough post!!! I totally agree with all your cons and that's probably why I strayed away from watching…
yupyup! That was how I got into lakorns as well. Through my mom back in the days who would always have it up and running on the TV. What's eerie was that when I was a kid, things like rape and abuse in lakorns, I even thought was romantic and normal cause I was so exposed to them. But when I grew older I was just like wait... hold the train. This is not okay at all. I like a little slap kiss from time to time, but when it's just full on gaslighting and abuse then that's when I drop it all and go rethink life decisions. And omg! I totally feel you. Even the most light hearted romantic lakorns of all time will have a kidnap scene like bruh. And what's up with all these alpha male dudes in lakorns who will always have guards around them and can order a kidnap/assassination as easy as snapping your finger. and police are so goddamn useless up until like the last 20 minute of the whole drama.
