I was a big fan of the manhua when it was still coming out years ago and honestly, I feel bad bc I didn't even…
Manhua reader here! Yes, they did keep some elements of originality from Xia Da's work, however, they changed quite a lot considering it's based off on real-life historical figures and the Tang dynasty due to China being very mindful of portrayal in history. They don't want any misconceptions and distortions, but it's safe to say that it's enjoyable and considering the manhua has never finished. They had to do with the given material they received and historical elements. I enjoyed a lot and it's the only drama I'm currently watching. This is just my opinion, of course. You can watch episodes 1-5 to see if it's your cup of tea! That's all the things I can say, hope it helped!

i a completely agree with you on the hardships and tragedy that the women of this drama go through. despite all…
By far, my fav historical drama because it shows a lot of hidden meanings and such that people face especially the women! (Not saying it's the only drama, but it portrays key factors seen in many other historical period dramas) GOSH THE PORTRAYAL AND EVERYTHING IS REALLY TOPNOTCH.

No I meant A'Sun and Changge since the guy they based off of Sun dies on his way to Chang'an so in a sense.. does that mean A'Sun will die before he sees Changge... NOOOO I"M SRSLY GOING TO CRY A FUCKING RIVER IF THEY PULL THAT!!!

Title The Long Ballad Spoiler
Gosh, just watching the episodes of The Long Ballad made me realize how unfortunate the women are specifically the mothers. Starting off is Changge's mom, Madame Jin, who doesn't end up with her true love instead to his brother (that's estranged from her) and dies without ever hearing her daughter say "mother" for one last time. Second is Madame Gongsun, who's heartbroken after knowing that her husband killed himself for the sake of Shuzhou and ends up committing suicide to be with him even if it meant leaving behind her child (also Yuan is a pitiful character, but she has others who dearly love and cherish her). Third, we have Princess Yicheng, who was basically "given/sold" away to the grasslands for the peace and prosperity of the Sui Dynasty. She is by far the most ill-fated woman in the drama. As princess of the Central Plains she followed her duty even if it meant leaving everything behind to move into a foreign land. She has never stepped on her motherland since and yearns to be back, but feels disgraced and ashamed of herself. She's been tossed from one khan to another, oftentimes getting emotionally, mentally and physically abused by the khan and the woman beside him. Princess Yicheng has stated that She'er (her son) shouldn't be anywhere near him otherwise she'd be struck dead (I forgot what they said, something along those lines). And finally, we have A'Sun's (adoptive?) mother. I don't know her name and although we don't really see much of her (heh... we won't unless flashback scenes or whatnot), I find her pitiful that she was used as a bargaining chip to force A'Sun into becoming the Great Khan's eagle aka best soldier. She couldn't interact with her child and had to watch him from the sidelines. Ultimately dying as she couldn't bare to see him getting humiliated. Sighs.. all the women in the drama really do have such a sad and miserable story.

So I was reading up on Emperor Taizong and I was surprised that a lot of the things that happened in the show…
The drama follows events that occurred in the Tang dynasty since China is very mindful of historical dramas portraying dynasties as they don't want any distortion which is why C-dramas tend to get broadcasted on later periods since it undergoes inspection of details and whatnot.

I can't deny that thought at all! I love the scene where Leyan kept on asking Haodu to stay, she even stated "You're not obeying my order again?" or something along those lines. XXDD

People complaining about age gaps are all just instances of double-standard at this point. Swooning over 9years…
I agree! It's so clear how people are so blind on that matter, but when it's the man is literally the older one in the relationship, they don't complain or find it bad. It's literally the gender difference that people don't like and I'm irritated that Dilraba is getting hate for it.

If you find this ridiculous then this isn't the first time everyone has seen this. There's a lot of c-dramas that…
I agree on that note, but then again it's the director and/or producer who chose her to portray the part she was given. Honestly, watching c-dramas with things like that happening. I don't really mind anymore at the end of the day I'm watching it because I'm entertained. Although historical validity and presentation is important, what can we do about it? We're just watchers and it's fine to point things that don't make sense.
