If you find this ridiculous then this isn't the first time everyone has seen this. There's a lot of c-dramas that have this types of things especially with the characters they portray and usually girls tend to be in their early teens compared to the actresses' who play them that are now in their late 20s to early 30s. An example is Zhang Ziyi, she portrays Wang Xuan in the Rebel Princess who's 16 years old when she's in her 40s. So if that bothers you in the slightest, you'll see that it's pretty common in Chinese dramas... well in any Asian dramas. As for menstraution, it's not entirely impossible to have a late start since it depends on the girl's body and in the manhua that scene specifically is also written, but differently. Changge doesn't even know what to do with herself since she's too caught up in her revenge and has Mimi Guli to help her (not entirely accurate since it's been quite awhile since I last read the manhua).
A very important reminder I couldn't but just leave here. This drama is not a about a swoonworthy "kyaaaakyaaa"…
Well said! I believe that the romance part is just an added spice to develop the stories and characters, it's one of the eminent factors in dramas. The manhua (if you've read) shows more about the political sense of The Long Ballad than the drama, but they're doing a great job t it so far.
People complaining about age gaps are all just instances of double-standard at this point. Swooning over 9years…
Yeah, it honestly baffles me on how much the main couple gets hate especially Dilraba since she's the older one, but people don't talk about the age-gap between Lusi and Yining. They're clearly showing their misogyny and it's quite common in any dramas that when there's the Older Guy X Young Girl troupe a lot gush about it, but when it's the other way around suddenly it's a problem. Like come on, where's the consistency of reactions and the energy for it?
Omg bestie thank you for saying this. I am honestly tired seeing this ship war like please both couples have their…
Yeah, I always go to Weibo just to see VIP previews because I really can't get enough of this drama! Both CPs have quite a high ranking and that alone shows how The Long Ballad is dominating cdramaland! I'm so proud of everyone who participated in the drama and I hope to see more of the characters' development in story.

The CPs in the drama has different vibes and as you've said "[they] each [have their own] flow of relationship" and I love it so much. I wasn't really a fan of Lusi and her character is one that I have seen too much of, but she adds a fresh vibe of innocence and playfulness. Haodu, on the other hand, I love and hate him. On one note he's a very cool and impressive character. I'm looking forward to the development of their loveline since their intimate scenes are quite limited!
if they want to talk about the age gap, they should talk about the second couple as well Liu Yu Ning is basically…
I was gonna comment on that too! Like why are people so pressed on the age gap between Dilraba and Leo when the second couple has the same 8-year age gap.
I really appreciate this explanation! I am enjoying this drama so much I actually want to read the story. I am…
I do recommend reading the manhua, it's good and you'll probs know more about the characters although there's changes to the ones in the dramas, but in a sense it's still similar.
I think the love story is done rather well in this drama! When I first heard Leo and Reba were in a drama together,…
Yah... I was sad that his company basically fucked him over, but I wish him the best as with everyone who's in The Long Ballad. Leo's great at playing A'Sun, hoping to see more intimate interactions with him and Reba!

Qu Chuxiao or Shaw Qu was supposed to play A'Sun but because of his entertainment company he was pulled out and Leo Wu was the last minute replacement since they started filming already. Him and his company had feud so dramas that he was supposed to star in was later taken off his hands. I know him from Bloody Romance and god does he have quite the charisma and appeal! I felt really sad when I found out about it, but then again the actors playing in the drama are great and continue to exceed my expectations.
HE CAN"T DO ANYTHING ISTG! The Shuyu slander is what I live for! XDD although I feel bad he is in fact one of the worst characters in cdrama land in terms of usefulness.

To be honest, I really didn't have any expectations either with Dilraba and especially Leo since he looks very young compared to the character his portraying and with Dilraba, I love her, but her acting needs improvement. When I watched the first episode I was mind blown and I kept watching it. I'm hooked, I was really impressed in both of their acting skills especially Dilraba. She greatly improved since ELOD and Leo exceeded my expectations of him considering I found the original actor who was supposed to act as A'Sun better. but I changed my opinion since then. Leo is perfect for it, I don't really care if they say he looks too young for it because his acting is good especially his expressions! XXDD
when he started drinking in ep 17 because he was so heartbroken that changge "died" LIKE THAT SENT ME AIFYUZHCUWGUWS then there's haodu who's just as disappointed as we are.
