MDL is weird with the ratings for new shows. The rating will take a few weeks to settle.

Actually the novel does suggest that the causes of death were suspicious rather than the official reasons, but there was no evidence so nothing could be done.

If anyone is curious about the age of the leads from episode 2:
- Yi San became king at 23. Here he is still Crown Prince
- Deok-im is working on a book with the princesses that was completed in 1773. So this could be a year or two before that
That puts Yi San around 19/20 years old and Deok-im slightly younger

They finished their comeback in July and then three members went on to film dramas. Now those shows are finally being aired. Chansung's will start soon too.

More romantic than most romance dramas lmao

There are some clips of him as a teenager doing some acting skits and he was already very good. But he's always been interested in it, and he's worked very hard at it. He wasn't given the chance to act earlier in his career since their agency pushed other group members towards acting first (namely, Taecyeon and Chansung).

For me, his best work so far has been in Confession and Just Between Lovers. In this role too, he's doing a great job. But I think he's never put in a bad performance, though I'm a 2PM fan since their debut so I'm v biased

For anyone who's still undecided about watching this because they're wary of politics, Lee Deok-hwa (the actor who plays the king) said at the press conference that this is primarily a romance drama, and politics will serve as background.

Could be? It's clear from the preview that the tiger somehow makes it into the palace. But Deok-im and her friends seem to be clued in to a plan (when they're shown holding the drum and flags). I'm just not sure how reading a book fits into it all. Also, would San use his own people as bait? He's very protective of them as we can see by how concerned he is about the number of victims

It's based on a historical novel about real people. The novel is said to be pretty historically accurate.

My theory is that Deok-im will read a story to distract the palace people while San goes to hunt the tiger. Since he hasn't received permission from the king yet, he's technically not allowed. And then I think his enemies will use that to their advantage to paint him in a bad light.

Doing a rewatch and I just want to mention that this show is so easy on the eyes and ears 😍 The music, sets, costumes, colour grading are all on point. And of course, there's my boy Junho in hanbok. Usually when I watch dramas I do something else on the side, but this show has my full attention.

He's been in two historical movies, Memories of the Sword and Homme Fatale.

Just caught up with this and I like it so far. I didn't see KBS's inspector show so I can't compare. This is an easy watch. It's kinda cartoonish, fun without being laugh-out-loud funny. It's a sageuk on the surface but it has very modern sensibilities. The action takes place among commoners far from the capital which makes a nice change, but for that reason it's not the prettiest or most lavish drama. Kim Hye-yoon is unsurprisingly the star of the show.

The Red Sleeve just started. It's on the more serious side (or it will be) and the first two episodes were promising.

The Viki subs are quick but they aren't that great. I noticed a scattering of mistranslations. If you have the choice, go for Viu's subs.

I think it's gonna be more like him becoming jealous of the attention San will give to Deok-im and trying to keep them apart

One thing about this episode I absolutely loved is that those who were exasperated by the tropiness of the episode 1 ending got their answer haha. I'm digging this director's humour.

Super cute second episode, pretty much all about Yi San and Deok-im from start to finish, and also establishing yet another opportunity for Deok-im to help Yi San. I think everyone is going to like it :)
