I think that’s how it would be for this drama. Their existence is acknowledged through conversation/dialogue…
Oh, I know of this channel! Good video. In 2007 Yi San, Queen Hyoui was portrayed as a good and helpful character but I'm not sure if they'll have time to fit her into this drama. I still haven't been able to find out how much of a part she plays in the novel. Anyway, I'm sure we'll see soon enough

Or they might show up in brief appearances. In history, Queen Hyoui does play a somewhat significant part in events (though not in a harem drama kind of way). That's why I think the harem tag on this drama is misleading
After ep 4, I am confused about Head Court Lady Jo's intention. I thought she is secretly supporting the Crown…
Lee Deok-hwa gave a spoiler in the press conference lol. He mentioned that she might have had a relationship with the king in the past. Not sure if he was joking or not but I guess we'll find out...
In the beginning of the first episode, when Court Lady Jo is scolding Deok-im and her friends, she mentions that Kyunghee is one of the "Crown Princess' seamstresses". In the time of the first episode, Yi San is 11 years old, he had been married to his wife for 2 years already and she would've been known as the Crown Princess. So, the drama has implicitly acknowledged her existence.
Luckily the person asking Doek-Im to spy right now is CP’s mom who just wants to keep him safe. It’s going…
I do wonder how this show will handle the other concubines. By now, Yi San is married but we have yet to see his wife. I don't see how they could tell the story of Deok-ro's sister Consort Won without also including Queen Hyoui at the very least.
And yes, wasn't it that adoption incident which caused Hong Guk-yeong to fall out of favour with Jeongjo?

Yeah, I think his loyalty to the Crown Prince is driven entirely by ambition. He couldn't care less for his actual wellbeing, the end goal is to get San on the throne and therefore himself into a position of greater power. Maybe all this ambition stems from shame about his humble origins? And not forgetting that their relationship is founded on a lie because the young Deok-ro took credit for something he didn't do.
As a fangirl, I want to add that Junho is doing great. I keep seeing knetz and news articles praising his acting, voice and sageuk tone. I'm so proud of him!
I enjoyed this episode SO MUCH. When San said he was being hunted - "do you have any idea how that feels?" - you could understand the constant fear he must be living under. It's not often you see a hero admitting to being scared for his life. He's such a tsundere when he's with Deok-im, I find it cute haha. Also, I like how San gave Deok-im a chance to sit beside him and get things off her chest. He has a sense of fairness even though he's her superior. They keep saving each other, it's obvious they make a great team. I just want them to realise it already!
I'm a bit nervous about how he'll react when he finds out Deok-im has been ordered to spy on him. He already has little trust in people. Given how they've built a rapport, he might see it as a huge betrayal :(
It feels like there are a lot of villains circling around. Why is Court Lady Jo so keen on Deok-im working for the Prince? I wonder how it fits into her plan to depose him. Deok-im's sunbae, Wolhye, is definitely sus. And, as I thought, Deok-ro is one cold-blooded bastard. He might be the scariest of all, and there are a lot of scary characters in this drama.
Folks, Deok-im is not Deok-ro's sister. First of all, he said that she was a young child. Second, he's based on a real person and his sister is one of Yi San's other concubines, Consort Won
Princess Hwawan's adopted son is also a real person, and there's no family connection between him and Deok-im found in history

And how he wants his sisters to stay away from the palace
