People must make comments with evidence???? Uhh, no, that is not true. Most comments are personal subjective opinions based on how a person FEELS about the show, which is shaped by their preferences and taste. If someone says they don't like the show because of yada yada yada - that's a personal subjective opinion. If someone says the show flopped - this would be a false fact that would require evidence.
Sounds like you've had that "debate" with her one too many time and no matter how many more times you try to "debate" with her, she's not gonna change her opinion. You could just let it go, you know.
You're calling out her "strange" behaviour and now you're kinda talking bad about her, I personally think you've turned it into an unsafe place. Who's going to want to leave comments about how they feel that is different from yours if you're going to pounce on them to have "healthy debates"? They can't continually leave comments different to yours, because you'll "call out their strange behaviour", too. Not everyone leaves comments wanting a "healthy debate". Some leave comments to express how they feel about the drama and squee or discuss about it with like minded people. You've debated with her before, it didn't get anywhere, perhaps time to move on.
Even if I was a fan of the leads, I wouldn't be bothered. Why? I would just think they have difference preferences and tastes to me. I'm not gonna exert so much energy to get them to change their mind. I'd rather have fun discussing it with people who agree with me.

If you are unable to civilly discuss and accept different opinions, then just scroll past those comments. You enjoy the show and squee about it with people who agree with you, and let others discuss whatever they aren't happy about with the show to the ones who may agree. I'm not a fan of either leads, I'm just neutral (only seen dilraba in ten miles and first time watching Allen's show) but I enjoy watching BW.

Credit goes to maymay who is 100% fluent in Chinese and English. My Chinese is not as good as hers! Lol. I time and clean up after her translations, restructuring her sentences, haha. It's a fun job XD I'm glad everyone is enjoying BW. It'll be even more livelier and packed in here once official subs come out.

Interesting discussion you guys have going on here! As someone who has done subbing for a number of years, I will leave my 2 cents.
Subbing is not really about precision and details. Subbing is about being concise. Especially for the Chinese language where a 4 chinese character idiom will translate to an English sentence of 20 words. The character took all, but 2 seconds to say the idiom, but we're left with 20 words to cram into 2 seconds the character opened their mouth. In subbing, there is something called Characters Per Second. When it starts to get too high, the CPS turns pink to red. Red means the CPS is too high, i.e. the translated lines are too long to comfortably read in the time allotted for the average human eyes. When the sentence gets way too long, subbing is all about summarizing and localizing as well, unfortunately, for those who don't understand the language and want every detail. (Netflix tends to summarize/localize a lot)
PeachBlossom is right, in that the 万 indicates plural/many. Literally, 万 means ten thousand, but in BW's case, 万 花 谷 wan hua gu means Valley of a Million Flowers, to indicate the abundance of flowers in the Valley. And yes, from what I remember, we did have the translated meaning in parenthesis and then stuck with Wanhua Valley afterwards. Sometimes we just shorten it to "Valley" because not enough time. Translating names of places is a preference thing. If it makes sense, we may, otherwise we prefer not to and leave it in pinyin, simply because most of the time, it doesn't sound good in English and is a mouthful to say/read. Viki is guilty of this, translating every name of places, and it gives me a good chuckle when reading it.
I know there is a minority that love details in subbing, but too much detail actually doesn't make for pleasant viewing for the majority of viewers. You'll be rewinding and pausing so often just to read everything. They are better off sticking to reading the translated novel.
Croton's subs are good. They are very aware of the CPS, so much so that, as PeachBlossom pointed out, may have missed the mark at some spots. In the first preview of ep1-2, I didn't like that they made Yunhe sound harsh and mean, when she was actually being cheeky and a bit flirtatious towards Changyi at their first meeting.
But oh wells, each to their own. Youtube is definitely an easier and more accessible streaming platform. I'm all for the official subs to come out so we can stop subbing, LOL. But we're so close to the end of part 1 now (grr, croton took too long) that we may as well finish off part 1.

We have also added new mirror links. These links are more user friendly and the download speed is fast! Most important of all, there is no limit! YAY! I would even recommend these links over the mega links, LOL. The only drawback is that they have a short life span (7 days).
