Fair enough. The supernatural face only gives out the time of death, no mention of God, heaven or hell. These are all assumptions / lies made by the cult. Yes, for all we know, could be aliens from another dimension. I haven't read Nietzschean topics so can't comment on that. I'm not smart enough even if I did read about it, haha. I just saw things simply as it is. The founder did say he wanted others to suffer like him. Did you watch dub or sub version? Perhaps the execution was not clear enough for some and hence what I saw went over a lot of people's head, by the sounds of some of the comments in here. Anyways, I definitely enjoyed hellbound.

This is my two cents. New Truth founder and leader is actually a villian. He is not some righteous selfless guy. When he received the prophecy that he will die in 20 years, he spent some years in suicidal thoughts, then felt it was unfair and he couldn't understand why he had to die. He lived in fear of his impending death. He wanted everyone to feel that same fear and he wanted the world to suffer as much as he did for 20 years. He made a cult, made up reasons for the prophecy, ie angel of death, you're a sinner bound for hell. He had 10 years to set this up. There is no "angel of death killing people at a certain schedule". The founder of New Truth made that up. All we see is a supernatural freaky head giving people their time of death, and 3 supernatural hulk-looking monsters executing that. This might be left for season 2 to explain the meaning behind these supernatural events. The last 3 episodes shows the consequences of the founder's plan. It worked, the world is in chaos, Arrowheads doing crime in the name of New Truth, people hiding in fear when they receive their prophecy and their families condemned as sinners too. The world is suffering. The baby is proof for the world to see that New Truth's doctrines are lies and stop their insanity. The founder gave the detective this option as well, to record him receiving his demonstration and prove that New Truth is fake, kind of spiting the detective, because the detective talked about human free will and justice, and if the detective really believed so, he should arrest his daughter for her crime. I'm no academic, this is how I simply saw it.
No there is no bromance. But there is chemistry between main leads. And for bromance drama you can watch "Word…
hey hey, thanks for your thoughts. interesting to see how you came to understand these terms, however, it really is incorrect.
"bromance" is an english term meaning "a close but non-sexual relationship between two men", hence i said platonic love. there is absolutely no romance (romantic feelings). there is a deep bond, that yes, is like soulmates. soulmates can be either non-sexual (bromance, womance) or sexual (ie lovers: girl-girl, boy-boy, boy-girl).
you mentioned enemies will not die for each other, well of course not. they are enemies, there is no bromance. it is just the fans' wishful thinking to ship them together/as a joke, but in the actual dramas they do not have that bromance relationship (unless it's a love-hate relationship, ie rivalry, hate on the outside but deep down they care for the other). there is no bromance between real enemies.
i used "willing to die for the other" to show the closeness of the relationship.
BL, ie boy love, the term is very clear. there is romantic feelings between two men. WOH is based on a BL novel and when adapted to drama, production crew tried to disguise it as bromance to pass censorship, but it is clearly BL. a lot of dramas are like this to pass censorship, you just have to find/know the original source to know if it's BL or bromance. Ancient Detective has an excellent example of bromance. the two men care deeply for each other (ie willing to die for the other, gets upset at the other), but each have their own female partner who are they are sexually attracted to.
it seems a lot of people interchange bromance and BL, but yeah, completely incorrect. hope the above clarifies
I'm at episode 15 and just trying to get to the end of the drama and not dropping it. I believe that 12 or 14…
It is originally a 16 episode drama, but due to the high popularity of this drama at the time of broadcast, they decided to extend it by 2 episodes, hence you can feel some dragginess towards the end if you watch it nowadays. Those who watched it while it aired back in 2013 (like me) did not mind at all because we wanted to see more OTP scenes, lol. This drama is one of my all time favourites. Have re-watched it a few times over the years. We all loved FL's sassy-ness and ML's maturity and devotion. Interesting that people will interpret things differently. As for the relation, I think the show handled it well for 2013. No one thought it was off at the time, otherwise it wouldn't be that popular. Better that he is out of high school when they finally started dating then during high school, I would think. So I think it's fine. They dated when they were both adults.

As a couple of people have pointed out, just wanted to correct you and future readers, this drama has plenty of bromance, but no BL (boy love). Word of Honor is BL, not bromance. Chemistry between male leads, platonic love for each other, willing to protect and die for each other ... is bromance. =)
That's a big spoiler for episode 5. Would you mind spoiler tagging? Thanks =
Ah I see. I don't use tik tok and barely use twitter. People come here to see /read on the reception of the drama, if people think it's good or bad, or overrated etc. Many people gave their opinio without spoiling or they will spoiler tag their comment. I'm glad it's going viral, but just in case some one stumbles upon this drama away from social media, I think it'll be nice for them to experience the reveal of ep 5 themselves. True, many may have read it anyways, but still, you never how. Thanks for spoiler tagging it though
for the first time ever, i’m rewatching a drama... that’s how life changing move to heaven was, i just had…
I'm impressed. Most of us wouldn't be able to rewatch so soon. The crying hurts, lol, even though I only cried 3 times. Need a loooooong break before I can rewatch.
I'm 5 eps in and liking this drama alot, but there is one thing that annoys me is fl. She is too nosy for her…
You are the type that doesn't cry easily and that's okay. I don't cry easily either. Drama only managed to squeeze tears out of me 3 times, whereas my sister would be crying at every single episode. Nevertheless, I call this drama a masterpiece. We're all different and react differently. No one here is exaggerating.
It's because you have described the ending. If you read through comments on here, whenever some one asks what kind of ending this drama has, many will spoiler tag their reply. Same with other dramas, many will reply ie happy ending, sad ending, open ending in spoiler tags. I don't find what you've said a big deal, but if some one thinks it's a spoiler, I think no harm in spoiler tagging your comment. Let's be kind to each other =)
You must be delusional... A 9/10? For this poor adaptation?
LOL, what a keyboard-brat!
Darn it, I gave in. My previous post was meant to be my last one, but I couldn't walk away without clearing a few things.
So you're nice at work because you get paid and don't express yourself truthfully, but on an online forum behind anonymity, you choose to express yourself truthfully. Cool. And for the record, no one said you couldn't express yourself. I'd prefer it if you'd kept it to the drama only, but others have advised you better ways to express yourself without offending people.
Correct me if I'm wrong, I am assuming you're a youngster in your 20's. I am not that old. Probably your parent's age. I feel old, so I call myself an old lady, or a hag, whatever makes you happy.
To be clear, I have never made fun of your grammar. I did think perhaps you lack comprehension hence I asked if English is your first language and was gonna explain that "you must be" and "you are" basically mean the same thing, but you corrected yourself (or so I thought. I was wrong. You were being sarcastic.) Sometimes people aren't aware of the meaning behind their comments (I was going to point it out to you), but you clearly do know and you don't care.
Yes, I know people around me who have been bullied so I do have experience with bullied victims. Being a coward and being considerate/respectful of other people are two very different things. I won't explain. You can look up the dictionary.
I thought you were slowly digesting people's advice when you decided to delete your commenting calling me an idiot, but I see that advice is still falling on deaf ears.
I don't wish for you to die in real life. Please live a long life. Please outlive me. Good luck with life. Just be mindful of your choice of words. You may not consider 'you must be delusional' offensive, but some people do (evident with the replies you've had from other users), and you don't want to trigger the wrong kind of person who will threaten your life over some words. Better safe than sorry.
I thought it became a bit too anime-ish too at times. That rooftop scene where they stood far apart from each…
It might be to you. Dramas are for viewing and to be critiqued, and of course, this will always be different due to individual taste. I noticed it, it stood out to me and so I rolled my eyes. But I still continued watching. It didn't take away my overall enjoyment.
I don't think it is that scary but I bet this series will make you cry a looooot....I seriously cried after every…
It's not ghost kinda horror, but more like grotesque looking monsters, zombie twitching kind of monsters, and yes, there is gory blood scenes. There are also jump scare scenes. However, there are some funny looking and non-scarey monsters. There is a loooot of blood though, be warned. I'm not good at horror or gorey stuff either. I will usually just bring my hands up and partially cover my vision. It is not horror all the way. There is much more emotional / touching scenes and battle scenes.
