On The Glory Part 2 Mar 17, 2023
This show was an absolute masterpiece for me. What I was blown away by most is the way how the script crafted the world in which 'The Glory' takes place. It is a scary world in which none of the living characters are truly good, the law doesn't protect anyone and the victims become the perpetrators and the perpetrators become the victims. Being righteous only makes you suffer. The only thing that matters is money and power, and later in the show we are showed that even family and friendship aren't anything compared to having power and keeping one's status. Does friendship even exist if people stick together only because they have a common goal or know too much about each other? Also, most of the story seems to be about bullying in school, but later on we see that the same power dynamic clearly continues well into adulthood in this world, not excluding bullying and harassment between school employees and bosses and employers in the workplace. It is a story about revenge, but it's also a very powerful social commentary. Re-watching this show makes me realize all the amazingly thought through details that make the little wrinkles in the script suddenly make sense. Wow, just wow. However; beware of the violence in the show. I personally could not watch the scenes without fast forwarding them.

I agree with all your remarks. Couldn't have put it better myself. I also liked your proposal of what would you have changed in the story :)

Although I haven't finished the show, I find your deeper analysis to be fascinating.

I couldn't agree more with you pointing out the inconsistent message of the show. This drama pretended to have a deeper message, but this was all fake. It purely revolved about pointing out good or average looks every 2 seconds. Very misleading indeed.

Wow, I did NOT expect a kdrama to be shot in Poland anytime soon! Oo

I am still in the middle of watching this drama, but from what I've seen so far, I couldn't agree more. I am also seeing the sad past between the leads as a completely unnecessary, if not hindering, element of the story. The second lead already gets on my nerves even though it almost never happens to me. The story is cliche, but charmingly silly, so it would stand on its own without the ridiculous 'destined to be together' thing.

I would agree with most of those.

Those were my thoughts exactly. I'm glad I wasn't alone.

I agree with solubi. That's when it clicked for them that the rings were the reason they couldn't go back.

Hahahaha.

Title Couple on the Backtrack Spoiler
I loved the drama, but Ban Do pissed me off. I did warm up to him eventually, but some things he said to his wife were plain cruel. Why would it be ever ok to tell your wife that she is too old and that no guy would ever be interested or was interested in her? That's super mean! Then he meets the cute girl who was his first love and does all the right things. He shows that he can be super romantic and sweet. It's a classic romance-turned-stale story. Guys like that made me not wanna ever get married when I was in my 20s! (Fortunately, I met my husband.) Still, if I was Jin Joo, I would not forget the discrepancy between his behavior when she was locked home with a child and when she was adored by other guys.

Maybe its not just your type of humor, for me nothing else has made me laugh like Waikiki did.
You are probably right, but is still seems like it's everyone else's type of humor.

I thought the same thing. The writers let this thing develop waaaaay too quickly. I felt rushed and unnatural, almost forced. I didn't like it because that's not how Shi Hyun's character was introduced, but I also didn't like it because it totally wasn't in line with what we also knew about Tae Hee.

I have to say that I agree with Kate's interpretation. It is pretty clear that he was actually genuinely into Soo Ji before meeting Tee Hae. I think he fell for Tee Hee seeing how genuine she is. Btw, Daisy Lili, did you think about putting a spoiler alert on your message? It reveals quite a few details from the plot.

I agree with the turn. I hoped for more episodes being like the first 4.

I don't necessarily disagree with your assessment of the plot, but I would say that the strength of this show was that it was ridiculous and entertaining to watch. I would assume that people, like me, watched it to have a laugh at how outrageously surreal it was. If you take out for what it is and not expect a really good story, it was actually quite funny at times.

I will keep checking in, then :D I don't know if you need any more titles, but I will just throw it out there: I just thought of Waikiki, Itazura Na Kiss, Fated to Love, the Heirs you and Birth of a Beauty because they all fit your category, too.
