I agree, I am having a hard time with this drama because the ML and FL are the most out-of-place characters in the show. Their casing was not good and none of their acting is believable.

First, she asked to be demoted and exiled but then the Lord saw her in a field Lord and said you were innocent and I could not save you implying she was banned. Second, the 2nd evil wife who was also sent to the cold palace is waiting for ML to come and see her. What for, she killed two of his sons and poisoned his wife why would he come to see her in exile? This is really confusing and bad editing.

I am having a difficult time wrapping my head around this drama. I am on episode 11 and the ML and FL are the most uninteresting characters in this drama.

If you look me up on MDL you will see that I am no slacker when it comes to Asian dramas. So I think I know a thing or two IMO. The ML has a lot of chemistry, but he alone.

If you read your own comment what you are describing is the ML and his natural chemistry. Yes, he oozes chemistry, he alone. IMO

I am on episode 30: Love Ding Yu X. So I think I get it now, why I am not seeing any chemistry between the leads. There is a certain immaturity in the FL so when I looked her up I found there is a huge age gap of 10 years between them. Not that age matters but if you have ever seen Yang Mei Mei, who is 19 yrs., but she looks 15 yrs. and she can pull off the coy woman role like nobody's business. the FL in this case, her youth and immaturity strongly come across in this drama. I think that with some agencies popular actors are sometimes forced to act with newcomers to give them a leg up in the industry. What a shame they could have cast better.

I am on episode 22. This drama is moving so slowly and not in a good way. Without Ding Yu X, I would lose total interest. I do not feel or see any chemistry between the leads, though the fight scenes are decent. I like FL but not with this ML I don't think she has a strong enough personality, or look to match Ryan.

From beginning to end, I could not understand why this drama had such high ratings. Objectively speaking it was not that good. So, I guess people must really love the leads. For me, it was CGI gone bad. This was a big production with poor graphics and special effects. and storytelling. I guess, the story was too big to adequately fit into this drama. I like the leads to but not enough to be biased.

I so agree with you when I first started Chinese dramas I was devastated at the endings because they were so ambiguous and often not happy. Now I am used to the letdown but still very disappointed. I assume that because there are so many dramas and it is a favorite Asian pastime they must find something shocking to appease the audience. The real kicker is the Korean dramas and the 10-second endings.

I just finished "Scent of Time" and it was good, somewhat similar with twists and turns. There is a bonus with the same male lead.

I don't understand why a lowly princess can get away with so much evil someone please explain it to me?

I loved it and currently on my 5th watch. Sometimes all the hype makes a let down for our expectations. Watch the 2nd half it has merit and more romance and action drama. There is so much I am curious about because they tried to squeeze so much in so I think I will try to read some of the novel.
