They are gaslighting us. They want to make us feel like our opinion is invalidated by "facts" or whatever, as if their google search is more relevant than what people in "Africa" have to say about this whole portrayal of the continent. Then when you argue they're like "where is your source, where are your numbers". btch I don't need any source or number to see that something is problematic ? They know they are in the wrong, but they can't prove their point without sounding racist, so they try to bring "facts" in the convo to back their counter arguments because otherwise they just sound plain racist and they know it. No. The main problem is the whole white saviour plot and portraying the ML as this one god that came and save Africa by digging the second well of the continent (what even is that?). Poor people in Africa (wherever it was filmed) are not a mean to an end to achieve good public image. Using people's distress to look good is humiliating. It's like filming yourself giving food to a homeless person and act like it's the second meal of their life.
There is no scandal. Only a few people taking a fake outraged stance. I suspect they just want to take this drama…
