Most of the time the comment is not even an invitation to discussion. If one says "I don't like something" in what world do you respond "I disagree" ?

I don't know if its because they are scared and prefer to stay in ranges that they have been praised before of if it because its the only thing they can do well but type casting can definetly kills people's carriers. it's a bit weird to not want to do more as an actor too, explore more genre, more roles.
Sometimes it feels like these actors are just actors because they have to work, and that's fine, but then I can't watch you.
Hard agree on Esther too, I'm seeing a lot more complains from people about her.

It's bad enough when a lead is cliché, but different actors and acting can make it bearable, when one perso keeps portraying the same role, it gets boring. It's actually convenient that I don't like the story because I would have been bitter to have to pass on a good drama because of that.

Good for you...? like I said, personally, it takes me out of the story. Characters are what they need to be and are often very similar from one drama to another but the face changes so the acting and delivery also. But when one actress keeps portraying the same type of FL, the lines get blurry and it's just a repeat after repeat. I don't like it.

No hate at all but Wu Jin Yan plays the same character everytime she's in a period drama. The acting is the same, the delivery is the same, the characters are loud the same, their personalities are similar. She's portraying the same "strong female lead" over and over again. She's being type casted and it ruins the story for me. It doesn't help that both leads don't have good chemistry (though I don't think she has good chemistry with most of her costars anyway).
It's a shame because I have been waiting for an emperor centered story and the costumes are really pretty.
The writing is also lacking and slow for no reasons.
The writers fell into the same trap than most with their "strong female lead" by having her do/say things that she shoulnd't even be able to do/say considering her status, all to just uplift her and show how capable and smart she is. What do you mean you're going to use the emperor ? hello ? you were so very scared of the stupid governor of Shazhou but you're going to use the emperor ? ... like.

The story was of course predictable and the wrting not perfect but it's never a problem when it's all released in the same day. It can then deliver exactly what it should : entertainment.
Weekly release pushes you to dwell on the imperfections of the story and it ruins the experience.
Many Kdrama should opt for a one time release, they would do better in numbers I think if people don't have the time to think about all the flaws in the writing.

The plot twist about the pond spirit not existing is nice summary of most historical kdramas : when it comes to the throne, fratricide is never not an option.
I assume the studio hoped it could do well and add another season considering the ending and the unresolved story with the supreme spirit or whatever it is
