I'm definitely going to watch it. I don't mind a childish character when they're done right and there is growth from the character. I don't trust the comments bashing Ren Min as they're the same people who loved Love Between Fairy and Devil where the FL was extremely childish for like 95% of the drama and the FL wasn't a good enough actress to sell it for me. I'm not the biggest Xiao Zhan fan, nothing against him, but I didn't hop on The Untamed craze back in 2019 so I just never felt the hype. He's a fine actor in the stuff I've seen him in, but honestly I'm more interested in The Longest Promise for Ren Min. She's impressed me in everything I've seen of hers and it's been a long time since I've seen a good master-disciple kind of xianxia so I'm excited to watch it.

Hopefully the little shit has matured a bit. His behavior towards Ren Min really ruined his image in my eyes. He's a lot older now so hopefully he's less of a douche.

I get that people like Yanxi more because it's more feminist and fast-paced, but it's also extremely unrealistic. I liked Ruyi more. It was super depressing and slow-paced, but the acting was brilliant and the story far more realistic. But I do understand why others enjoyed Yanxi.

Palace on the other hand was such a joke compared to Scarlet Heart. It still makes me mad lmao

Yu Zheng is a very petty and bitter little man whose best work is behind him. He's also a blatant plagiarist (Scarlet Heart isn't the only one!) so I don't know why anyone takes him seriously.

I never thought this before, but in Wild Bloom she reminds me so much of Wu Qian. Her looks and mannerisms are so much like her.

I haven't watched it yet but I have a feeling it's got to be the directors. I've seen her in multiple other roles and she's a great actress, one of the best out of the post 95 gen.

The description certainly sounds interesting but I'm in the minority where I didn't care for Love Between Fairy and Devil and with YCY as the lead I do not have high hopes. I really hope I'm proved wrong and that it's great. DYX doesn't usually disappoint.

I know your friends' age gap isn't drastic but you used the fact that they're still together as some proof that age gaps between minors and adults is okay when that situation is not equatable to larger gaps like the 17/22yr olds in this drama.

I'm sorry but plenty of other factors DO matter. A 17 year old, no matter their personality and maturity, is not able to consent to a relationship with an adult because they don't have the life experience or a developed enough brain to do so. In an above comment I defended this 17/22 relationship in the realms of a drama because it's NOT REAL. In real life, it's disgusting. Only a messed up 22 year old dates a 17 year old.

I really liked the first episode. The chemistry was amazing and things moved so quickly, it was refreshing. Everything after that has kind of stunk. It's bland. The leads' interactions became typical kdrama bickering. The ML's memory and business plot lines are incredibly boring. I dropped at ep 9.

In real life I absolutely agree with you, that age gap is not okay. Character ages in a drama? Who gives a shit. The actors are all adults, I don't see the issue.

I mean, I'm not trying to shit on your friend, but back in the old days 15 year olds married guys in their 20s/30s/etc. and stayed married until they died. Staying in a relationship doesn't mean the relationship is successful or healthy. There are many parts of the world where unhealthy age gaps are still commonplace, that doesn't mean they're okay or good for the well-being of the younger person. It's not "judging" someone's life choices, it's protecting a young person with little life experience from being taken advantage of by an older person.

No but I've heard good things about it. I'm not opposed to watching more of her dramas to see, I just didn't like her in W at all.

I get that people like her, and you're totally entitled to that. But she overacted so much and was super unnatural. She didn't feel like a normal person. It felt like acting. Maybe she's gotten better since this or maybe this role in particular she just couldn't get into character. Idk but I didn't like her here.

Can I also just say how much I actually loved the SML? Not in a swoony omg I love him kind of way, but his character was so refreshing. Usually SMLs in sageuks are in love with the FL and they're these self-sacrificing guys. Not here...nope lmao he was a menace to our FL. He wasn't completely good or bad. He made me nervous. He was such a good character.
