Is she actually faking the kidnapping?
no, or I don’t think so, there is a twist a the end of the first episode but there still too much left unsaid to be for sure

THE VIOLENCE IS PART OF THE PLOT
I get that. Great intention, great idea. I just don’t think the execution was very good. For me it was okay, not bad just not great. That’s my own take.

YO SHE DRANK 10 LITERS. Even if we assume that Naro is 6 percent abv she drank 600 ml of pure alcohol and 6 percent…
I think that’s actually the only thing that I really disliked about the first episodes. let’s not talk alcohol. No one drinks 10L of anything and doesn’t at least get sick. Like hospital sick.

Korean drama tense to show really graphic violent. I just finished watching A Shop for Killer, the bloody beating…
I though A shop for Killer was really well done, it was brutal but it didn’t feel redundant.

THE VIOLENCE IS PART OF THE PLOT
I understand. Just my personal opinion that some scenes were too long. I just thought if every violent scene was a couple of seconds shorter the content would not change and neither my understanding, and by the end we could have a few minutes of something else. By the end some of the violence scenes also felt redundant. I knew exactly what would happen, it was neither building the character nor moving the plot forward. borderline boring.

for all the ???? , it was a great production and interesting visuals, Park Shin Hye must have had fun doing this, it was a delight to watch her. My strongest dislike was how long certain scenes were, I’m not a fan of showing violence just for the sake of it. I think as the viewers by the 3rd episode we knew how ruthless Justitia is, I think is was unnecessary to show so much for every death. maybe again just to remind the audience by the end of it. Anyway, those are the scenes I either skipped or watched 2x in the last 4 episodes. 8/10

first episode was slow, pace was a little bit everywhere but by the 3rd episode it seems to have found it’s rhythm, I’m excited, I would definitely binge watch if all of it was out. I think the premise it self is worth giving a shot.

Title The Judge from Hell Spoiler
Me being a nerd and nitpicking the world building:
So far it seems this universe is pretty much based on Christian views and right now I’m not convinced by the use of Christian iconography. It feels kinda dumb and poorly executed. Don’t get me wrong, some look really good, I’m just not feeling the depth of the references.

For example the portal to hell in this universe is a cross upside down. Traditionally it means humility as it is the cross of Saint Peter. It is true that in more recent times it has been used as a sign of mockery of the religion by non believers but in reality lot of Christians actually don’t like the cross symbol it self as it reminds them of the death of Jesus and the ones that do make use of it do it as a sign of repentance. To carry a cross is to carry one’s sins. So it would make more sense for the door to hell to be an actual cross, since you are going to hell to pay for your sins. Also, why would people think demons would use an upside cross like that is a rejection of Jesus but at the same time see them as creatures punishing human evil under God’s reign? Make it make sense. It begs the question, are you creating this world based on this religion or from what outsiders think that religion is? And if it is the latter then that is very mediocre of the show.
But not all is lost, I’m not convinced but I’m reserving judgement. In this instance there still is the possibility that maybe Justitia journey is one of humility. Maybe the purpose of her quest on earth/punishment is for her to become humble, in that case, St. Peter’s cross not only would make sense, it would also be visual foreshadowing.
Still, because nobody knows about St. Peter’s cross, it seems cheap. It’s the obvious, easy way out to use a symbol appropriated by anti Christian movements to depict hell in a world inspired by Christian mythology.

I mean you suspect someone of being a serial killer and let's say the person is your friend or potential lover.…
well, from the religious pov there is Mark 12:17 “Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's” which allows for and also respects judgement both on earth and on hell/heaven
Replying to ShEsHy Oct 9, 2024
My complaint is the exact opposite of yours. In the show's universe, heaven and hell are real, so who cares about…
Hum… the human laws are for the living, not only the victims but for society as a whole. Laws protect our general safety, and ensure our rights as citizens against abuses by other people, by organizations, and by the government itself. We have laws to help provide for our general safety. Trials are important not only to establish the facts and determine guilty but also to create guidelines/ precedents for the punishment. People are punished for their crimes and hopefully less people commit crimes. If people believe they can get away with it, they will just do it. And maybe I just answered my own question, maybe Justitia is trying to seduce/encourage more bad people into committing crimes by giving ridiculous sentences that the current system allows. Anyway. I agree the ML is not making sense rn. For a detective he doesn’t make any questions, or at least not good ones. Hopefully he will join her side soon, their current dynamic is getting old quickly. In the end of the day since she is from hell and her job is to take bad people to hell, is she really a killer or are they meetings their destined death? In some ways isn’t she more like a grim reaper?

I just don’t understand why the criminals can’t be punish properly by human laws. Did I miss something? Why go an extra step to give lower punishments if even if they go to prison you can stop the car while they are being taken etc etc? I kinda get that she is also criticizing some Korean laws and the judiciary that allows for it to happen but it is not it. Rn it is my only negative criticism, That aspect of her character is a bit off. Not consistent.

Need more of KWB!! I loved it but be aware: This is a coming of age story with violence. What move the plot forward makes you sick. This is not a lighthearted movie. I cried a couple of times, but it has a good ending that leaves you hopeful.

Seeing how everyone is commenting about LOVING this movie, I'm going to go against the hive and say that I was…
finish it please! You are right, it is not really comedy, and there is no real bromance, and when it gets dark it really makes you feel sick but I thought at the end it was a beautiful coming of age movie while bringing to light a very real issue. what could be a bromance is more like a mentorship, and for me that’s cool, I thought it was endearing.
