Title The First Frost Spoiler
Is her aunt mentally ill or something? So much unnecessary drama. I've seen many dramas where adults try to matchmake against the wishes of their children, but in those dramas, at least they believe they're doing what's best for them in their own way. In this one, it feels like the aunt is just trying to make her life miserable. Even when the female lead explicitly told them not to contact her and that she would never meet them again, they still showed up at her workplace and caused a scene? I bet the man she's trying to set her up with is good for nothing, and the aunt knows it, wanting to ruin the female lead’s life on purpose. There's no trace of care from her.

Did anyone else catch the reference in Episode 2 when Sang Yan pushed his friend's hand and told him not to get close to her? It was similar to a moment in Hidden Love when that same friend tried to approach Sang Zhi. Lol!

Oh ok. So, in this story will they show Sang Zhi or his parents?

Is this Sang Yan from the same story as Hidden Love? How is it related to Hidden Love? Is it a prequel or a sequel?

What a boring and predictable "conflict" to add to this drama. We saw it coming but it still feels very forced.…
I also felt let down by the predictable, cliché plot. There was no need to connect their pasts. So, her dad died while saving the ML. Phew

I can now completely understand why Miles accepted this role. Although he's not the ML, the complexity of his character is even deeper compared to the actual ML and FL. His acting is superb, especially in episodes 28 and 29 (when he was eating the wedding pastries). His character is now transitioning into his villain arc. It will be exciting to see him strike back at the King of Ning and the princess for ruining his life. Unfortunately, he will also attack the ML and FL.

Why does Liu Chang have to be a villain just because he has become attached to the princess and Prince Ning? Also,…
I completed ep 19, and I can only say that, the advice FL gave him during the end of ep 19 is spot on. If he wants respect, he first needs to become a respectable person and learn to respect himself. If we compare his life with Mudan, there are similarities. Both are thrust into bad situations, which are outside of their control. But, Mudan always tried to fight against her fate and attain freedom, even if it means to fake death and give up all her wealth, family relations. In contrast, Liu Chang never tried any solution and wallowed in self pity, accepting his tragic situation.
As for his lack of experience, he should first understand the political situation of his country. There are many factions, like Faction under Prince Ning that includes noble lineage scholars and those under Master Xu, that includes common lineage scholars. Like FL said, he is an aloof scholar, who believes he knows everything. And currently, he is wallowing in self pity and not trying to change his situation. He should meet with other influential scholars an gain insight towards politics. I can see his character developing in two directions-either he will become a good officer or will give in to power and become a villain.

He is a shallow character, not because he is weak, but he is a genuine narcissist, chauvinist, delusional as well as sexist and looks down on common people.
For all his life, he read books to Crack imperial exams, but he has no real world experience. He genuinely believes himself superior to other people and looks down on servant, merchant class. For ex - when FL's maid Yu Lu died, he said to her to not be sad as she is just a servant.
He pined for princess during his marriage with FL, and according to him he loved her. But what happened to his so called love? Just because, princess changed in personality, his love vanished? How about trying to make some effort to understand princess and make her come on right path? No, he immediately discarded his feelings for her and latched on to FL like a bug. He is a product of his terrible family's upbringing. He may sound righteous about changing the world, but he does not know anything about real world and real people. He just wants to impose his wishes on everyone, and gets drunk when he does not have his way.
I am not saying, that there is no chance for his redemption, but I can see him supporting Prince Ning in usurping throne as a means to acquire FL.

Master Xu was alive lol. I was berating ML in my mind about his actions that led to Master Xu's death, but ML is surely very astute.

Title Flourished Peony Spoiler
I am on ep 13, and it has become obvious about who are the bad guys or villains in this show. King of Ning, his daughter and Liu Chang will be the main villains. It seems obvious that King of Ning wants power and finally usurp the throne. ML seems to be his lackey, but he is most likely working undercover, under the orders of the Emperor. Emperor is portrayed as foolish till now, but he is probably very smart and knows the ambitions of King of Ning, That is why, he has sent his childhood friend (ML) to acquire the trust of King of Ning and help in taking him down. But the ML and Emperor cannot predict everything, as they were unable to save Master Xu.
Liu Chang is a shallow character as well. In future, I can see him trying to help King of Ning usurping the throne and gaining power, so that he can trap FL and kill ML. There maybe some chance for his redemption, but it seems unlikely.

Yep, I agree. Although, the character is hateable, but his acting is very good (as always).

Sml is such a delusional bastard. Idk why Miles wei accepted this role. The way he treated FL at the begining is bad enough, but his later actions of "making it up to her" were just so bad and forceful. He had never considered the feelings of FL, at the beginning and later when she divorced him. For him, FL can only be happy, if she stays by his side. It doesn't matter what she thinks. To him, she is just throwing a tantrum.
He is a narcissist, bigot, chauvinist and plain stupid character, who does not have one redeeming quality. Plus, he is also an abuser who thinks low of women. Tbh, I hope his character is not redeemed by the end of the show, and properly punished.

I always felt, in ancient China, merchants were treated badly by hypocritical scholars, based on social standing or whatnot. Most scholars were bookish useless people, who cannot change anything in the world, as they don't know the actual world. They thought that, only books that they have memorized is the world.
On the other hand, merchants or businessmen were actual drivers of their economy and have real world experience. That is why, in modern world, businesses are the rulers of the world lol. Even the hierarchy in modern world is reversed, business men and women that own their businesses are treated more importantly by society.

I have no hope for the father now. The way he treated FL in her childhood can be somewhat recoverable , but his abuse towards ML throughout his childhood is irredeemable. I hope he has bad ending.

I'm on ep 1, and already exhausted. What is this family? Everyone, in the family, including stepmother, father, grandmother are re***rds. Father is typical brainless fool who gets manipulated by his mistress. (He will probably have a character arc, where he will realize his mistakes). They showed grand mother has authority, but in reality she cannot change anything in the family, as she does not have any actual power.

What type of organization guardians even are? They fired that silver gong for rape attempt, but decided to kill ML for defending innocent people? And the reason they gave was Lord Wei needed to assert his authority? What Bs. Unnecessary drama. But, I hope that Lord Wei knew beforehand, that ML will be protected by people. Maybe, he put on an act of tough superior, but in his heart he knew that ML will survive?

Usually in Chinese martial arts stories of Xianxia or Wuxia genre, there are certain techniques, that people practice to become powerful superhumans or gods. Some techniques have special requirements to practice. For ex- being a virgin for both men and women, being an eunuch or other certain body types.
