I really do not understand why this drama got such low ratings in Korea and was therefore cut short. I suppose what the money backers in episode 11 said does indeed reflect not just the attitude of men but also that of women, in that they do not like to see strong women on telly. How sad. I really enjoyed this and would have liked to have watched the full 16 episodes. Nonetheless, they managed to wrap it up nicely.

Absolutely great drama. Please, do not let the rather old fashioned looking poster or that there is no idol lead in this, put you off. The acting is superb and I am almost certain that you too will fall in love with Arikoto and or Tokugawa. A beautiful bitter sweet everlasting LOVE Story.

This had the potential to be one of the best Taiwanese dramas I have seen to date with a great story line apart from the ending and the semi-makjang second male plot, both of which did not appear logical in the scheme of things; and then there was the female lead who was made to behave, walk and talk like a petulant 4 year old. Seriously when are they going to get their act together and stop portraying grown up women like that. As for calling a tall women who appears to be roughly a size 14 fat, having legs like an elephant and a waist like a barrel, what can I say. And still I liked it or may be the potential of it. If only the makjang second male stuff had been left out and the ending had truly been left open I would highly recommend this. As it stands, I cannot.

Each episode (except the last one which was 100 minutes) was 80 rather than 60 minutes long so all in the same amount of time as your average 16 episode drama.

I have to agree with you Nadoosha, the sword sound effects as well as the other sound effects were poorly done. The greatest problem however in my opinion, is the poor translation for those of us that have to watch with subtitles. My apologies to those who have I am sure worked very hard to translate this. It's just that the translation is too literal and with pronouns being mixed up it makes it very hard for non Korean speakers to make sense of much of what is being said.

Have to agree with CaliGirl. I have seen Jung Kyung Ho in various dramas in which he had to portray very different characters and he nailed all of them every time, He isn't really my type (not to say that he is not attractive) but by the end of each of his dramas I ended up being totally in love with him. That takes some serious acting skills and shows just how charismatic he is.
