My anxiety waiting for this episode rises with every second I'm gonna explode soon.
Not entirely besides the point but I just wanna say that I've never been this hyper obsessed with any series before. I can't be the only one, right? The chokehold Only Friends has me in is just...
Whatโs everyoneโs current guess for endgame couples?I personally think everything will be left open with everyone…
I think that right now, TopMew is most likely to be endgame, just because the other two are in such uncertain waters atm. And that's coming from someone who's genuinely hoping for SandRay endgame, they're my faves, but idk how plausible that is at this moment in time.
But I also agree with the other commenter that they could very well all be endgame just because of the nature of BL, but then again, this series has proven to be chaotic and unreliable and unpredictable. . .
The ultimate irony considering the title and how the series starts would be if by the end the entire original friend group hates each other. No exceptions. Not even for Mew. This is all just speculation and me wishing for stuff to go that way of course, I just think it'd be interesting and a possible great finale. Not *necessarily* including the "outside" characters ie Sand, Top, Nick etc, though that would certainly add even more messy chaos to the fire. Cause honestly that's what I hope for the most as endgame, not even considering ships. A totally ruined friendship in the finale of a show called Only Friends. Might just be me who wants this though :")
No but seriously. Just once I'd like to see Ray trying and have Sand screw it up. I don't think that it will go…
Mine do change too every week, except I've been rooting hardcore for SandRay from the start ahahaha.
I adore Sand too, just not as much as Ray. It helps that every one of these characters is so distinct in how they are that I can't be genuinely annoyed with ANY character, because everything they do makes sense from their perspective, experiences, morals, etc. Whether I agree with them or not.
I can't say Boston is one of my faves but he's definitely interesting. He's been a wildcard from the start and I hope he'll continue his chaos in upcoming episodes. Fuck something up, my man, go for it. He has my support :D
And it would also be super interesting if the cast did mix up more, but then I do want there to be consequences just as strong as we've seen so far. If Mew kisses Sand, for example, I want Ray to find out about it and I want him to explode (not literally ahaha (or maybe yes literally???))
Part of me wants one endgame ship that at this point in time does not make any sense, like Nick and Top hahaha. Who knows, who knows. . .
No but seriously. Just once I'd like to see Ray trying and have Sand screw it up. I don't think that it will go…
Maybe Ray's also suffering from being delusional thinking Mew would love him, just like I'm delusional about SandRay ahahaha.
And yeah I'd call myself a Ray sympathizer who's very aware of her possibly unreasonable bias towards him. Given he's clearly done terrible things to everyone around him. Last episode alone should've made that very clear to everyone if earlier ones hadn't already. He's toxic and needs therapy yet I can't help but love him and all his issues. I also just really resonate with his backstory and he's the most pitiful character to me personally.
But people who genuinely believe Ray did nothing wrong are blind fr. You can like a character who's toxic and horrible and you're free to even like a character because of those things, like I do.
Mm I guess I can speculate all I want on who's endgame or not but like, really. . . anything can happen still. Maybe I'm mistaken, I'm never good with time-place in series, but weeks, maybe months, have gone by since the first episode, right? With a timeline that moves the way Only Friends does I think there's still too much up in the air to make real guesses at plausible outcomes.
Just to get a little technical now, trailers and previews really don't tell us much in the end obviously. Kinda like reality tv shows. Scenes and dialogue can be cut and pasted around, which is why I'll let my delulu mind wreak havoc for another two episodes ahaha.

Interesting, because I do think it's fucked up. Ray isn't just some rando after all. Mew's fully aware of Ray's feelings for him, has rejected him multiple times and even kissed him before. It's clearly rebounding, but did he HAVE to go with Ray? He didn't, imo. They frequent the club often enough. So to me it actually came across as (un)intentionally malicious given we saw Mew on somewhat of a war path after Top -- maybe he's not on it anymore, maybe he is.
If Mew went into "dating" Ray knowing he'd never truly reciprocate, (which is what I also believe) I'd deem that pretty manipulative of him to do. Of course, he's suffering from Top's betrayal and that's just as sad, but that doesn't excuse him from taking advantage of Ray's feelings for him, which is what I believe he was doing.
I agree it's not Mew's fault for being babied by Cheum, but it's just another thing that makes me sympathize with Ray.
Man, I genuinely do only wish for SandRay endgame out of all three "couples" while being fully aware of my bias toward Ray. TopMew can go either way and I won't mind regardless, and BostonNick. . . looks like a lost cause to me, but god knows the series might throw yet another curveball our way. Let us not forget everything can change in 4 episodes. . . (i am smiling through the tears ahahaa)

I agree, it's obviously not as black-and-white like something like evil Ray/good Sand, which I worded a little wrong--I meant it more as there's a clear difference in perception with how the average watcher views Ray vs how they view Sand.
He definitely isn't in the wrong for being in love with Mew, and frankly I think Mew really fucked up by even "getting together" with Ray in the first place, even if it's only temporary. He was taking advantage of Ray, and in the end, their "friends" (ie Cheum) still ended up viewing Ray as the only problematic one.
Ugh they'd better not continue that cycle though! It's happened a few times now like you mentioned and it's getting just a little tiring even though it's very realistic. But maybe that's the point. I felt like Sand was pretty clear last episode and it in the moment at least seemed to impact Ray a little when he said he wouldn't be Ray's second choice.
I'm carefully optimistic with SandRay given the preview, but the looming feeling that something will go wrong will not yet go away ahaha. I hope something goes wrong, and that it will be solely caused by Sand. We only have that one little bit in the trailer to go off of for that one. . .
Despite being a SandRay stan I do actually really look forward to the possibility of Sand doing something morally reprehensible. Ray's been in the wrong enough times, ya get what I mean? Let Sand be in the wrong. Neither of them deserve being hurt but I'd rather have an equal playing ground instead of the demonic Ray/angelic Sand dynamic we've got going on up until this point.
Or fight, but not seriously (sorry I love fighting about characters I will do it all day but I'm rarely heated…
To be fair I've defended Ray more than a few times now in various places, but it's annoying when people judge someone as a person just from the characters they like (or dislike) the most. I guess I prefer debating moreso than fighting <3
Just have fun, liking or disliking a character isn't that deep ok I'm a proud Ray stan and I'm not sorry. I pray for SandRay endgame every single day <3 Personally, I don't understand why some people like Nick so much and/or act as if he's an angel but do I care? No. Don't fight about fictional characters besties!
