best rom-com of 2024!

i had high expectations for this drama since the beginning and it didn’t disappoint me at all. it was my first time to watch a drama with chen xing xu and i’m in love. this drama is a perfect mixture of fluffy, funny and cute moments.

i’m a big fan of slow burn dramas and since this drama has 36 episodes, it’s normal for the romance to develop after a while. because i actually prefer for them to take a while to get together rather than having a breakup (it’s usual in dramas with this amount of episodes). regarding the drama, i laughed a lot with them, the female and male main leads expressions are the best.

the side characters are also cute and funny. of course, they put another female lead persuading Qian Heng, it was inevitable. this character that went after QH and it kinda mess up with the plot, because it wasn’t needed at all! but i think this was like a push for the female lead career improvement. she changed work places and worked harder to get a name by herself, and not to be called Qian Heng’s girlfriend. some people didn’t like the ending, but i feel like it was very realistic. i wouldn’t like to be considered as someone’s girlfriend, i would like to be known as the career i chose. she’s tired of living as Qian Heng shadow.

i found it very hard to like both main leads in chinese dramas, i usually don’t even like the female lead characters and i loved her, she’s super cute! their chemistry is also very good and it feels like it’s a little realistic, it really feels like a REAL relationship. so both main leads are the cutest!

the fact that i watched this with broken subtitles and enjoyed it so much says a LOT. this is one of the best chinese dramas that i’ve watched. definitely my best trope. i will rewatch it for sure.

beware before watching: it takes a while for their relationship; the male lead is cold for her in the beginning; focus a lot in the side couple; it’s super funny, it’s very light; the ending is kinda rushed (no wedding scenes), but worth it.

GO WATCH THIS!

If you’re trying to decide whether to watch The First Frost, let me make it easy for you - yes, you absolutely should. This might just be the chinese drama of 2025, and the year has barely even started. But fair warning: if you’re looking for something light and easy, this ain’t it. This show is packed with some heavy themes like SA, abandonment, and emotional trauma. It’s intense, it’s raw, and it will hit you in the feels. But the way it handles these topics? Absolutely brilliant.

Every episode has you hooked, making you desperate for more. And the characters? So well-written and insanely well-acted. BJT and ZHR killed it as SangYan and WiFan, their performances were on another level. And the chemistry between them? Unreal. Some scenes were so intense I legit felt like I was intruding on them.

That said, the show isn’t just heavy drama. There are moments that’ll have you laughing, and the way BJT and ZRN play off each other makes everything feel so natural. The second couple is cute too, though I won’t lie, the grandfather’s storyline dragged a little. But honestly? Who cares, because the main couple alone makes this show worth it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen two actors have this much chemistry before.

Now let’s talk about the OST that is an absolute perfection. Every song fits their vibe so well, making all those emotional scenes hit even harder. You know those soundtracks that stay with you long after the show ends? Yeah, this is one of them. And don’t even get me started on the cinematography. The visuals in this show? Stunning. Every frame feels carefully crafted, from the lighting to the color grading, it all adds to the atmosphere and emotion of the story.

The First Frost isn’t just another drama, it’s a whole experience. The acting, the storytelling, the OST, the visuals - it’s all top-tier. Good luck finding something that even comes close after this. Now go watch it. A happy ending is guaranteed.

you definitely need to watch this!

i highly recommend this drama to everyone. i was hesitant to watch this at first due to the reviews being 50/50. but since i like both actors, i decided to give it a go and it was the best decision i ever made. this is a funny, cute and entertaining drama.

i rated almost every episodes 5 out of 5, because i genuinely enjoyed watching this. firstly, they’re very funny together. also, there’s ⭐️ no breakup ⭐️. if they’re having any problems, they’re very honest with each other and when he found out about being a fictional character, he didn’t blame her!!!!

and wait until the plot at the end, this character was created for one reason! some people claim that they don’t have any chemistry and that’s a lie, they’re very cute together and all their moments together are heartwarming!

also, there’s some criticism about him being created as an ‘evil villain’ character and when he’s in the real world, he instantly changes and he doesn’t act like a villain. but i don’t mind it, this had a purpose in the end, so just watch it and you won’t regret it!

the only downside in this drama is the second couple, they have no chemistry and their scenes are very boring.

why is this one of the best drama

first of all, i just wanna say that i consider this season way better than season 1. i think some people will give a whole different review because of dojin’s death and some of them even dropped this, but i think this death didn’t changed the drama. Why is that?

So i really liked dojin’s character and even knowing that his death was unnecessary, i think it brought a whole lot more interesting plot to this drama. because if this was only about the first responders taking some risks and nothing happening to them, it would be a lot more repetitive and kinda boring. but they decided to change everything and killed a main character, it really changed our perspective and kept us interested in the outcome of his death. i really liked the new characters, especially Do-Ha. i feel like after this season i can really feel what’s the meaning of family to them (firefighters, paramedics, police and nfs). all of them are willing to risk their lives by trusting each other.

I don’t think i have any words to explain how much i love hogae, that man is a jindo dog indeed. nothing will spot him, he will do everything to protect his close ones and his look speaks louder than actions. his chemistry with Seol was out of this world and this season made me feel like a child about to get rewarded for something.

i love first responders season 1 and 2 and i cannot wait to see more seasons of this. see y’all soon ! 🩷

when i first started watching this drama, i got really addicted to their chemistry and their acting. it was definitely one of my fav dramas of 2023, although i admit that watching one episode per week (some were postponed too) was very tiring. but then, my review absolutely changed after this last episodes.

i know they needed to explain their background story, but it wasn't necessary at all to spend like 4 episodes to explain this whole "past" plot. the episodes were also very short, since they used a lot of flashbacks in it to fill out the episode. but I also laughed a lot with this drama (especially with yul) and giggled a lot because of the main couple, their chemistry is top tier and their kisses are the best i ever seen.

i highly recommend watching this, it might be better since all episodes are aired. i will pretend this last episodes didn't exist and just remember how cute, funny & sweet this drama was.
