i've been meaning to watch it for a while now, just that it's low priority since crime isn't a huge favorite of mine tbh. but i'm finally caving in now 🤣 after suddenly getting a lot of shen yi (+ du cheng ofc this duo) videos on my social media feeds. i don't like watching two or more dramas at once though, so i'm waiting til i finish love of nirvana first

i miss her xianxias too ☹️ i'd love if she played a villain or strong fighter. but it's too bad that those type of characters are usually side characters, so fans might throw a fit if yang zi plays a side char and/or doesn't get first billing

goddamn i feel like i just watched the entire show reading this 🤣 cdramas gotta stop with these overly detailed synopses. anyway, it sounds like an interesting crime/mystery/investigation focused plot

contrary to most people's opinions here 🤣 i feel like tong hua appreciates tan jianci's acting talent so it'd be nice if they worked together again. just hope that the story is good and jianci's character doesn't suffer anymore lmao (he's really good at these roles though, am i right or am i right?) but the chances of them working for a third time sounds pretty slim. tan jianci might not want to be known for starring in tong hua related dramas and vice versa

so sweet jiang ci repaired the swing for wei zhao 🥹 there's no confession, but the way they've been acting in these past couple episodes feels like lovers / a married couple (see they even wear matching clothes!)

all the ost are pretty but i think liu yining's ost might be favorite. this man's voice is so versatile

loving the friendship between jiang ci and yu lian <3

i forgot that pei yan is here too, brewing up some conflict 😓 he's going down the same path as runyu in ashes of love

at the end of ep 35.

rosie's family threw a surprise birthday party for her. while she was trying on the helmet she got from zhen hua, he said, "so beautiful. if she weren't my sister, i'd marry her." su geng sheng (his own WIFE bro) said "what do you mean" while their mom said "what are you saying in front of su?"

the vibe of that scene was playful, nothing serious, but still- who even says that 😭 susu is stronger than me cuz if i ever heard that, i'm running away and never looking back

been a cui liang / ziming fan since day one and still am. i have a hunch he's gonna betray jiang ci later (not out of malice but because he's very loyal to pei yan), though i'd love to be proven wrong :-) there's really not a single character i can hate lmao. except the obviously corrupt ones and pei yan's manipulative mother

and that scene where yifei caught sleepy jiang ci hugging wei zhao caught me off guard so bad 🤣

he has a negative "filter" (impression) on su cheng cheng right now because he thought she was a bully back when they were in school. try to put yourself in his shoes; would you treat a bully nicely?

when he said "so ugly" in ep 1, he was referring to her smudged makeup, not her looks. he took a pic because, as a makeup researcher and developer, he wanted to create makeup products that wouldn't smudge like hers did.

he fell in love the moment he saw su miao save that child from the car. to him, her action was a sign of bravery and kindness - a good person.
