well said.... costume drama got too much overly dramatize scene and most of the time a lot of misunderstanding or sadness.. This HL cdrama delivers an excellent happy vibe and indeed a romcom drama for sure, lots of happy moments with light plot, it is quite refreshing and a nice break from costume drama, to connect viewers to relate to their day to day lives while it brings happiness to our day a high rating of 9.1 if not higher is well deserved for sure.

My critic is my own and i highly rate drama based on these criteria: So far this HL meet high rating in my descriminating taste in drama below, 1. Actors selection/suitability- ZhaoLusi acting as SZ just perfect 10 i don't think there's anyone else can bring SZ to life as ZLS ; and her ML chemistry to ZLS definitely perfect 10, he's quite a heartthrob and handsome, got some captivating smile while maintaining a boyish look through out....
2. Tecnicality & Flow of the drama :Consistency & Clarity of the Script and Story line is well captured, it's consistent and true to its genre as modern romance comedy drama, lots of LOL and funny moments esp with siblings SZ & SY bonding & bickering....And the novel it's based of ? definitely in line with the entirety of its story it wants to portray, the story wasn't all over places, given with some flashback and continous flow of SZ secret crush developments, plus some realistic misunderstanding are put in place to help audience understand the current situation. Also luv that the drama is focus on SZ and DJX love story developments from start to end , other supporting casts and like family and school related scenes are just secondary but required to bring a wholesome flow to the drama.
3. OST : dang ! luv the lyrics being played at the right time and at the right moment :) I even love listening to HL sound track in spotify when i'm driving or chilling even i don't understand the chinese lyrics , it is just feel good songs.
4. Emotions : does HL drama invoke emotions to the viewers ? yes definitely it makes me sad when SZ is sad, and when SZ and DJX together my heart smiles for both of them... my heart smiles all the time brings back good ol' time, u know those days when you can relate to reality of the drama LOL
5. Popularity Indicator: is also important for me as a criteria. Selection of actors & scriptwriter/director, ZLS and CZY undoubtly are the best match in this drama. I'm a fan of ZLS but i still watch other k/cdrama depending on who act and the budget. And since this is S+ drama I luv it more on top of the actors, but most importantly it's from a popular novel and scriptwriter who wrote other good cdrama before... I rate the writer of this drama and director highly just because the HL so far since the trailer and when it started to EP16 I've seen, is by far a good romcom drama in its own genre, when you can relate drama in your life with a feel good feel happy drama vibe without those heavy plot to confuse viewers and an overly dramatize casts acting and story , none of those then it's a 10 for me but then who knows we're not at the end of this cdrama yet but so far 9.1 rating totally deserved it if not higher, i hope this drama will continously entertain the viewers and meet our high expectation at the end... :)

Peeps need to understand, everyone has their own feel good, feel great cdrama show to watch, what you rated high will probably be low for some... so in this case, even this is a S+ drama from youku majority of the watchers love this story, the OST the goes along with every script, the scenery, the impact it affects to the audience emotions, and the acting of the main leads are superb so what's more but to rate it high ? and that's all it takes to get a high rating , we are our own critics and we can't control what people love and enjoy in life... a lot of high budget drama is not even that good so what's really a criteria for you to rate it high? but again that's your opinion and not others :) and btw hidden love is already top 8 of youku's barrage cdrama of all time.

seriously this malicious critic ? just because this Avex read the novel of one chapter about young DJX felt excited when he first met teen SZ in chapter 2 of the novel makes it cringy ? I think it all depends in ones' interpretation, if Avex mind as dirty as he thinks reading it then that's his imagination to keep to himself... the novel and drama just goes along well in each chapters and the developments is quite clear of its intention to adulthood. The initial excitement could be knowing that his best friend has an adorable sister & meeting her is like having her own teen sister that he never have.. DJX grow up without a sister and to the unhappy family and so being an only child could be lonely for him . So that chapter 2 is just an innocent meeting to be part of a close family friendship; after all DJX relationship with SZ family is good & strong since the beginning, treating DJX like their own. And we could see the rest of the chapters how it convey DJX taking care of SZ as a young teen just like a big brother, protecting her from bullies, while helping her with studies & full of encouragement. It's like treating SZ as his teen sister while all along not knowing SZ has a secret crush on him... this is what the novel and drama is all about from start to finish not just make conclusion from one chapter? I think people with dirty minds will always taint stories with malice just my opinion.
EP15 gets even hotter between DJX and SZ, makes my heart smile the whole time. DJX so considerate of SZ trying to make her feel comfortable while he's trying to discover her feelings... too sweet these two... The drama soo good that even the OST plays and fit in so well every scenes. I even listened on SPOTIFY to 2 of Zhao Lusi songs in the HL soundtrack and also my other favorite Forever Star & Be your light, quite a heartwarming & feel good songs to listen to while I'm driving or chilling despite not understanding the chinese lyrics :)

have you tried another modern drama of Lusi ? Please feel at ease Mr Ling? it's kinda happy romcom as well, with lots of sweet and endearing moments with the ML,light plot but a good one.
the scene of him is natural and alright and probably just getting tired from filming, they were both laughing on the scene the whole time but cant compare to Lusi she's always smiling and laughing in the scene,... guys are not as girly as Lusi... if you look at the other bTS and their press con yday, their strong chemistry is undeniable.
oh my goodness Ep13 is full of heart fluttering moments! luv DJX captivating smiles to SZ everytime, and the way he shows off his neck tie to SZ to let her know he's wearing her gift & the way he kept looking at her with that meaningful smile.. He is finally starting to make his move after talking to Qian, seems like DJX is testing SZ feelings towards him now LOL .. these two main leads are truly too hot to handle , the chemistry between CZY & ZL is overflowing , such a perfect pair for this drama... they act so naturally, one can mistake them that they're in a relationsip in real life LOL great acting plus strong chemistry , excited to see more scenes of these two while trying to discover each other's feelings.... ahh brings back sweet memories of those good ol days lol
