Japanese has a thing called loan words where they just use a word from another language and modify the pronunciation…
Wait, what?

You used India as an example to say that when Indians speak English it's funny because of their accent..? And you're trying to say Japanese people are civilised and Indian people are not? What in the racist, close-mindedness is this?!

Right, I'd just like to point out everytime you say, 'chutney', 'bungalow', 'curry', 'pajama', 'karma' and many more, you're using loan words from Hindi/Punjabi in your accent. This is also 'a massacre of both languages'. Yet, nobody bats an eye when you say these words because everybody uses them and I can assure you that's the same in Japan too. Look, I bet if Japanese people watched you in a movie where you said 'bento' or 'ramen' in your accent, they wouldn't care. It's really not that deep.

What is deep is your stereotypical examples. Thank you.

I was about to write the same and found this comment, this series is one of my all time fave JBL, I've lost count…
Same, I love it too! It's a simple story but it's really adorable and the characters have great development.

heyy, what's ur ops on 10DANCE? did u decide to watch it?
Hello, happy new year to you too!!

I really appreciate you acknowledging my points and I hope you end up agreeing with even just a little with what I said. But if not, it's alright. I can't force you to think anything anyway.

Okay, honestly, when Sugiki came in with the bottle of wine, I assumed it was meant for a celebration. After all, it was Suzuki's first international competition and a step closer to the 10DANCE. I assumed it was more of an amicable gesture rather than romantic and that maybe he never intended to break things off with Suzuki. I think the tension Suzuki caused by asking him about Liana then getting really angry about the competition made the two's emotions overflow. Then, he felt it was time to call things off even if he never intended to.

Oh you didn't mention it but that's alright, it makes sense why. Okay, yeah, I agree the cinematography was superb and the effort they put in was amazing. Actually, so far I've watched the movie three times. It's just the type of movie that gets you excited and desperate to watch it again - for me, anyway. I hope that if you do watch it again, the movie opens your eyes a little more!

Okay, so regarding CM, I also thought the show would explore the themes of virginity and losing it when I began watching too so I really do understand your point. However, I really don't care about the lack of kisses in the show. Honestly, to me, the show demonstrated more of their emotional connection rather than physical which makes sense because Adachi is not just a virgin, he's a mind reader. Adachi can only understand the feelings of others because he's reading their mind and he realises he needs to face people, like Kurosawa, bravely and have them understand his feelings. I think the show focused more on his development of courage and openess and his relationships with Kurosawa and those around him rather than losing his virginity which in this version, his character was quite worried about doing. I could talk for a longggg time about this interpretation so I'll stop it here.

You're right, the 2nd couple were definitely willing to kiss and that's evident. Actually, since then both actors for Minato and Tsuge have featured in BL/LGBT shows (with kiss scenes) so it does seem more like the issue lies with Akaso and Machida. I can see why some people would feel offended by it, too.

I don't know if I could totally agree with Machida being 'well-known' but I understand the 'up and coming' description. Yes, he was recieving many roles at the time, quite a few were main characters. But genuinely, I'm being so honest, people in Japan don't know who he is. My friend is Japanese, and I introduced her to Keita Machida. Her mom went around raving to everyone in Japan about Glass Heart and everyone knew Takeru Satoh, but had no idea who Machida was - and this was in Summer of 2025.

Also, I've read countless articles where he praises the LGBT community when being interviewed for Cherry Magic or other shows. Interview for Cherry Magic (2020): "I think it's categorized as LGBTQ, but there are more and more opportunities for these people to be noticed in various works, and because of that, people who have been holding things inside are speaking out. The fact that I was allowed to take on this challenge made me think, and I don't think I should do it half-heartedly." In my opinion, I don't think this demonstrates his reluctancy to act a gay role and seriously, since Cherry Magic, Akaso has been given way more main roles in shows/movies so if Machida did play it safe, he didn't lose much anyway.

I can't find or remember an interview where Akaso has at least adressed the LGBT community, regarding Cherry Magic or not. Machida on the other hand, interview for Joshi-teki Seikatsu (2018):
Was there anything that changed your image or deepened your understanding of transgender people while acting? "Yes, I have friends who are bisexual or gay among LGBT people, but I was not familiar with transgender people. So I wondered what it would be like. But when I had a chance to talk with Nishihara Satsuki, a transgender person who was actually participating in the production as a gesture instructor, I thought she was a very respectable person."
What in particular made you feel that way? "First of all, coming out to your parents and other people close to you is an amazing thing, isn't it? Ms. Nishihara also teaches at a class called "Otome Juku (δΉ™ε₯³ε‘Ύ)" for people who want to become more like girls. I thought it was great that she could do her best for the people around her. That's why I thought that by participating in this drama, I would like to see a time when the existence of LGBT people is accepted as a normal thing and the word itself disappears. I think this is also the wish of the production team, and I thought it was wonderful that NHK, as a public broadcaster, was the first to deal with such a sensitive subject. I also felt honored to be involved in the production."

In my opinion, I think this shows he has no problem being associated with the community.

I would glady rewatch the train scene for you! Honestly, I can view something without bias. I know my username might be misleading but I am willing to be open minded if someone has a critique. Seriously, I don't know why I'm spending so much time debating over someone who doesn't even know me but it's interesting to hear other's views and then give my side. Okay, I don't have time to watch it now (but I have time to write a whole arguement, makes sense, right? 😭) but if I have something to say on it later maybe I'll write back about it. Anyway, the scene regarding the hotel room and wine. I think the lack of enthusiasm is intentional considering the dynamic of the two's relationship has started to change. I don't know if you've read the manga, but Sugiki doesn't want them to become closer because they are literal opposites. Both have a strong and dominant passion for dance which clashes between them because none of them are willing to give in. Both characters also have a little bit of internalised homophobia. Suzuki is disgusted when the men in Blackpool call him cute and kiss him as a greeting and Sugiki doesn't want to go any further with Suzuki because he believes they can 'never become one'. These emotions all get unleashed during this scene, where Machida gives a lacklustre kiss, because his character feels tired of their situation.

Okay fine, I won't belabor it either. I believe you're wrong too, but not 100%. I completely disagree that he's a homophobe and I hope my arguements have made you think more open mindedly about why. I'm also willing to accept some of your interpretations, like the ad-lib kiss. But, in my opinion, I thought such a quick kiss served as a tease to Suzuki so he could look forward to the 10DANCE. I also agree on how some BL fans are conditioned into thinking no intimacy is okay - because sometimes I am one of them! But that's more of a personal thing. I prefer more emotional connections rather than physical ones, doesn't matter if it's gay or not.

Hmm see this is where we disagree. I don't think he is reluctant to act homosexual because well, he's done it twice. Just because he didn't kiss anyone in Cherry Magic doesn't mean it's because he asked them to not include a kiss scene. We have to consider the director or the channel the show was aired on or the other co-star, Akaso Eiji because they could be the reason there was no kiss. See, Akaso hasn't played a queer role since and I don't think he's acted in any queer shows either. Machida on the other hand, Life As a Girl, 10DANCE, Cherry Magic, Bijo to Danshi, Wasteful Days of Highschool Girls, these shows are either LGBTQ or have LGBTQ characters in. Maybe there are more shows I haven't mentioned! He's also always expressed support and respect for the community.

Yeah, there are lots of make-out scenes in the 10DANCE manga that weren't included but there were also lots of other scenes that weren't included, like Suzuki's tattoo. But first of all 10DANCE was just a movie so it was always destined to never include everything. Also, this movie was only an adaptation of volume 1 and personally, I thought the train scene was fabuloussssss!!! Also, the last kiss Machida gave Ryoma at the very very end of the movie? That was an ad-lib! See, he willingly kissed another guy even when it wasn't needed.

Personally, I hope he takes more gay roles because I think he's willing to do it. He put in lots of effort for this role. Jeez, he dedicated months to learn two styles of dancing and performed in Blackpool!! In my opinion, you can see his dedication and determination to take whatever role he's given seriously.

Maybe this sounds like tons of glaze but honestly, I don't mind. The movie meant a lot to me for multiple reasons and I can see the effort everyone put into it. I can say that I was always going to give it high praise, like you mentioned, but I can also recognise there were moments that could be improved.
