Seriously. And it's not like she's on bloody rampages all the time, because the authors somehow managed to tie her down and relegate her to side character status even though she's the main character.
They definitely could've made her more interesting/morally grey or good; they just chose not to, which is a tragedy and a travesty for such a fresh K-drama FL.
by conflict if you meant leads interaction there are no toxic thing like that in this series ml is pretty straightforward…
Hmmm I can say that the show tries to balance the conflict and angst with comedy and romance, often at the expense of the plot. if you don't like shows that start well and drag, I'd avoid this one. Or maybe watch certain parts sped up/just skip them. The show has a lot of repetitive flashbacks so you can get away with it.
Yes, there are some love triangles and squares, but you can tolerate them. The FL and ML only love each other.
I found the extra romance stuff pretty annoying, tbh. Regardless of how drama-free it was, it just didn't need to be there, taking up space in a show that was already trying to do too much and be too many different things.
I don't know why you're commenting on people with (from what I have read) valid critiques of a show you haven't even gotten halfway through. Seems a bit weird. This is coming from someone who's finished all 20 episodes. It starts well and things start to fall apart, and people should know that and decide what to do for themselves.
Agree, They really could have done so much with the Mu Desk/Jin Bu Yeon element, and they get close to going there so many times, only to change direction to less interesting and meaningful filler. It's infuriating. it would have given them so many options for character development for the female lead, who is supposedly the main reason we're here. But they've relegated her to a foil for the main male lead from the start, so I guess we were bound to be disappointed. As someone who's finished the show, it didn't get any better. I know more than I did earlier, but by the slimmest of margins.
Justice for Jin bu Yeon! Hopefully we will learn more about her, her extraordinary powers and will see her come into her own in Season 2, but I'm probably asking for too much. >.< ;-;
100% agree. Sloppy writing & a terrible wrap up even if there is a season 2, probably why it is such a mess of…
Also agree. I know endings are difficult do do well mainly because of how many authors and storytellers crash and burn on the final hurdle. When you add in other players and motivations (namely money), the story suffers, and this (originally so intriguing and refreshing) story is no different.
Oh my goodness, you are in for a WILD RIDE in the last two episodes. I'd be interested to hear your views once completed, if they've changed at all! But yeah, fasten your seatbelts because the pacing is gonna take a few performance-enhancing drugs, drinks and supplements...
"I mean that dude would be destroying entire planets or something in next season."Made me laugh out so hard lol…
And it's not like they didn't have interesting angles to take with her. They kept hinting at the power of the Jin successor playing a key role in the reason why Naksu was so stuck in her new body, but did the character do anything about it? Noooooo. Instead of having her discover why all sorts of weird things are happening to her, especially at the Jin family residence, and having her use that information for some later conflict, they just reveal the entire backstory to us, minus a couple of points to keep us guessing. Would have been much more interesting to see the character grapple with it herself, but then we'd have less time for her wooden delivery in romantic scenes with Jang Uk, or some other silly side character romantic misdirection, and who'd want THAT?!
Based on how only one soul can inhabit a body (as shown by the switch between Queen and Shaman Choi), it wasn't…
I think we do know why, eventually. There's a scene in the last episode with Uk where he's sitting with Master Lee, who reveals that the magic required to keep an assassin tethered and shackled in a body would be that of a super powerful priestess. We can safely assume that Mu Deok interfered in Naksus's soul-shifting to protect her community because she knew she was powerful enough to do so. It is a great crime and travesty that we were not able to truly explore that dynamic of the story in favour of ridiculously superficial and petty lovey lovey trope-y nonsense.
(Also I loved your review title, fun call-back to the show :D.)
This show had so much potential and was ruined by greed to have it all at once I'm one drama (if this makes sense)
One of the great ironies of the show. The moral seems to be how greed is a rot that will ruin everything, and here we are, with both fictional and non-fictional evidence of that fact!
I'm glad I'm not the only person who watched the last few episodes at a higher speed haha. I personally found that 1.25 hit the spot most of the time, though I should've probably increased it to 1.5 at the peak points of drag.
Just saying, I really don't like the way the show reveal important plotlines like even for the recent "supposed…
It was pretty contrived, for sure. Like she's kept all her mementos from her life as Dami so close to her for so long, and now all of a sudden she's burning them out in the open?? And Jung just so happens to catch her in the act?!
Also I watched the whole thing at 1.25 speed to see if it would make it less awkward and it was still a bit draggy...
Okay... I feel like I missed something or just didn't get what's going on. But in early episodes isn't is mentioned…
I'm pretty sure the term you used is reserved for immediate family usually. Cousin marriages happen all over the world (not great in terms of genetics, but not unusual).
They definitely could've made her more interesting/morally grey or good; they just chose not to, which is a tragedy and a travesty for such a fresh K-drama FL.
