There are indeed 2 great demons that made an oath to restore and protect the Wilderness. These 2 are Zhu Yan and Li Lun, who were also once best friends but not anymore. At this point Zhu Yan is indeed very powerful and can subdue other demons easily with his powers and his one word command spell is quite overpowering.

So in a way yes he can be king but he chooses to use his powers for the good of both sides. Unless he loses control of his malicious energy during a blood moon then that's when chaos and end of the world would happen. He knows he's a vessel that carries malicious energy and always has to keep it in control in case he goes berserk. This very malicious energy is everywhere all the time and he always absorbs it so yea that's why he is indeed a great powerful demon.

In Ep 23, when YC came to give the wine jars to ZYZ and before they were about to engage in battle. Why did we see two hands covering YC face and LL came out?? At first I thought ohh yea cuz LL possessed his body...but that got cancelled rly quick when they then revealed it was Bai jiu that got possessed.

So is this a foreshadow telling us YC will successfully become a demon? He had the same demon markings on top of his forehead as LL. Then they showed ZYZ and him fighting.. After that we then got revealed a lot in ep 24 that indeed that demon blood got inside him. Why did we see this connection with him and LL tho?? is this to say he's about to become powerful as LL?? I'm sure it's an important hint but I can't rly tell what it'll mean.

Edit: After reading some spoiler comments, I'm happy to say this was def a foreshadow and my guess was on point. He'll indeed become a demon. fufufu I can't wait to see this transition and his demon arc. That will be a powerful era for him omg
