I can tell you that I identify as the "passerby" you mentioned. I've never heard of this cast before, nor knew about this drama before hand. Others have waited for this drama to be released and I just came across it recently. It was only after seeing a short video that it compelled me to be interested and eventually I got intrigued by the plot. Mind you this genre is far from what I usually watch i.e investigation, murder and mystery. It's not something I go for and that's mainly due to my preference so as it is for others. But this drama managed to catch my attention and I could see why.
So naturally I will give my opinion objectively as I have no emotional attachment to any of these cast. I haven't even casted my vote on the drama yet but you implied that due to being "hopeful" that the drama does well I have casted a vote based on that? There's a difference between criticizing/hating and nitpicking every single thing about a drama without it being done airing to making a logical decision only after having watched the whole thing. And it seems in douban a lot of ppl are doing the former without even waiting to rate after it is completed. Why? Bcuz they already feel strongly and don't want to choose the logical route to form their judgement. Mind you, the fact I said I hope the drama does well is bcuz I read the actors/actresses are getting hate for no reason and to me that's just unfair. Cnetz have beef with GJM, yet the cast is affected just bcuz of one person. If that's just me watching out for their wellbeing for hoping the drama does well then you could say I must be a cold-hearted person.

Indeed at the end of the day it's up to your preference and yes I can see what you're saying. I've watched some eps and could feel the draggy scenes in some of them. Some people are fine with it and some aren't, for me it poses no problem as I'm enjoying the progression and mystery so far. What I mean is that ratings will always be based on biased view/opinion and that's why it's best to just watch the drama and make a judgement. I don't usually rely on them much and tend to make an opinion only after watching but based on what I've heard about Douban it's always been problematic..
