Just for the romance part, how much does it worth to start this drama?
from episode 1, you can see the interest from the ML. It's a long journey but you will understand why, given their age and past. Is it worth watching? definitely.
I'm a fan of Xu Kai and immensely impressed with his early works: AMA, The Legends and FIYS (the last one is just more of the story rather than the acting). His last one, The Royal Feast, I tried but I really struggled to watch this series. I think the redeeming factor was his presence and acting, the rest was just meh. Hence, I dropped watching it after few episodes. Im also disappointed with the rating of this series too (though I've waited for a long time for this to air). I have to think whether ill give it a go. His trajectory of recent works were mostly dismal and I. hoping he can get more projects that has good materials and casting. He's really a good actor and his calibre is superb if given the right material
Although I've read some spoilers based from the original novel, I love how the adaptations screenplay and execution. The dialogues of a bold and sassy ML, but vulnerable to people who shows goodness to her. I also love how they shown LBY's unwavering love to FCSS: the strings that he kept and fiercely protected on his wrist, the broken jade pendant he carries secretly in his chest, the bite scar he never wanted to be erased in his arm, and secretly watching and fixing anything that can upset or threatened her.
I also love the connection in Huo county where LBY really falls hard for CSS at the beginning of their story. This also where they reconcile and get together again.
I will be proud to become a part of this series, they really show backstories of each casts and given their own moments to shine. Not just. a supporting cast but a character who plays important role in the story.
I understand why the series deviated from the novel. The main leads both showed flawed characters. A hero who was betrayed and walks alone in this world, admired by all females and feared by most, fierce and a brilliant military hero. But protective to people who are close to him. A heroine who was abandoned since birth, and never experience love.
Throughout the story, it shows their journey. How they found each other and overcome their issues in life. It's a great ending for me. It shows how they both gained families who will stand beside them through thick and thin. Even the royal families. So they will never have to walk alone.
They really need to work again or multiple times. Their natural chemistry on/off cam is one of a kind and it would…
if ever they do, I hope it's the right project. They were excellent in Long Ballad (eventhough not as couple), but in this series they truly shine. One of their best work for me so far (based from what I've seen). It will be a challenge to surpass this for both them. but I don't mind waiting as long as it's a good project that could either meet or surpass this one.
I'm a fan of one famous Chinese actor whose earlier works were all brilliant, however the last two series was either a hit or just so-so.
Since they're both very young, I want them to sustain a good pace that all their projects are successful. otherwise, it's such a waste of great talents.
I like the story and cast the most. For me, this was fascinating. But now when I watched the last episodes I am…
based from the spoilers who read the novel, it looks like the series deviated from the book a lot. Though no wedding ceremony, the ending is appropriate with the series. They both grew up alone and no family. their journey shows how they overcome the past. It shows each characters got their redemptions or end. But for the main lead, towards the end, it shows how both Cheng family and even royal family stand beside them through tick and thin as a family, share their burdens and the fight towards common nemesis. They could have use the last few minutes of the series with more cute and sweet moments bet the main leads, but I also like the message of the last few scenes in the series.
I saw a fan made video posted in YouTube, the story and characters looks very similar to novel "The Paradise" by Judith McNaught. All her books are amazing
Just finished watching the last two episodes and though I don't like gruesome scenes, I was blown away by the acting of our main leads. At such young age, they both portray the roles to a T. The emotions and nuances convey the true feelings of the characters. I also like the minimal acting - just the eyes and demeanour that speaks a lot. The musical scoring in the carnage scenes also heighten the scenes. Again, less is more. The layers of the story and how it unfolds is truly amazing.
The CSS and LBY scenes with their own background music is getting grown on me, I hope they can release the OST for this, Has anyone know where i download this music?
EP 43 LBY vs PengKun soldiers fight sceneThis fight scene is badass!! the stunts and moves are on point!! Great…
i am truly amazed with the fight scenes. This is one of the several Cdrama series where i'm truly amazed with the stunts and action scenes. I don't usually like watching them but the way it was executed is truly impressive
WOW. I didn't expect my post will have violent reactions. As casual viewer, I regularly post to series I've watched both Cdrama and KDrama. But this is the only series I find very toxic in the comment sections. Sorry (but not sorry) to offend avid fans. But to each his own. You can only grow when you take comments constructively. Otherwise, they will become stagnant and left behind by their contemporaries. C'est la vie
I started watching this series despite my original plan of waiting till it finished airing. It looks promising and I was excited when I read the plot. Unfortunately, it lacks chemistry between the main leads and just wouldn't capture my interest at all. I find myself checking my phone or email while watching. The story arc is like previous series put together (Ashes of Love, Eternal Love of Dreams, etc). I've seen the FL and other cast through AoL and I must say, I feel like watching her all over again as her character in AoF with different ML. I was hoping to se her growth (perhaps in acting, looks, character, etc) and try different characters or genres.
Its my first time to see the ML. He looks way younger than his real age and also to be paired with FL. The dubbers voice doesn't match his look at all and his acting is very monotonous.
I really enjoy watching Cdrama but this one is not for me. I might drop watching this soon though I tried giving it a chance. The pairing doesn't go well and either or both miscast.
im halfway watching this series to check other projects by the FL. Sorry to say this but i'm really bothered watching the ML with his teeth. Is it a false teeth? Looks creepy everytime he smile
tonight's episode was so good. kudos to our main leads for their subtle acting but full of depth. Less is more. despite their young age, the nuances of their acting in those critical scenes are impressive. the screenplay and acting were executed brilliantly, plus the characters of the supporting cast.
SHAMELESS BUT FIERY MALE LEAD + BEAUTIFUL, NAIVE & SMART FEMALE LEAD
I started my marathon watching the series last weekend. It's different from Long Ballad in a way nor WRTW. What I like about this series is the acting skills of the main leads who grew by leaps and bounds. Although the FL has impressed me with her acting in LB where I first noticed her. The ML also redeem himself in this series. His looks and acting greatly improved.
It shows the versatility of the cast: humorous, dramatic and action scenes. I love how shameless the ML is that he will use any opportunities to see/meet the FL. Even if its dangerous or even use the emperor.lol. I also love ML's lackey interaction and even the emperor worry more about the ML's love life than his country. LOL
The fieriness and bluntness of the FL, talking without filters. But her face reflects the beauty of her heart. Despite lack of training re etiquettes and formal education, she's an unpolished diamond with her wit and intelligence
The story is well-written and dialogues are relatable. The only flaw I can find here is the excessive amount of length of scenes that can be edited, hence, draggy and long. Also, the musical scoring. Given that there are lots of young actors here, they could have prepare interesting OST or musical scoring that gives more depth to the scenes.
