The editing is different on Netflix (the episodes are slightly longer) so there are only 41 episodes. You're not missing anything.

You can definitely watch it without watching season 1. It follows an alternate story line, so there's nothing you need to know from the first season. It helps to think about the two seasons like parallel universes with the same characters.

It's no Yanxi Palace, but it was still very entertaining, and SO pretty to look at. Inconsistent character development, though, as if the writers weren't sure what kind of people they wanted the FL and SML to be.

Netflix. It has more episodes. Viki has better subs, but it only has 60 episodes.
