Title Against the Current Spoiler
Heartfelt moment during the outbreak (episode 17?) when Gan Tang saw Lan Xiang could read and expressed it must be nice being able to read. Lan Xiang responded that she taught his father (Xu) to read and would teach Gan Tang too. Lan Xiang has a heart of gold 👍

What’s the time stamp on episode 14 you’re talking about?
His uncle and his dad. I just watched that scene again in episode 14 and the dad looked the same actor to me as in episode 3.

Just for fun: Why does Linqi walk like a pot-bellied old man when they leave the naval barracks? 😅😜
Showing the boorish side of him 🤣. He is manly, not a delicate sickly looking man haha.

The ML Lin JinQi was hardened being a soldier in the battle fields for 6 years, so it's natural he would show some aging in appearance and also character wise. I think Liu XueYi fits the role perfectly.

Why was Zhao Xingtang deprived of education?
The Zhao's patriarch, although they had the resources and means to hire tutors, chose not to educate their female children. I remember the caption on the screen on episode 3(?) they believed females would be better when they could not read.

is this super angsty or just average historical drama levels?
In my opinion it's average, on the cheesy side.
