If a Tree Falls in the Forest, Does It Make a Sound, or Is There Only Silence?

The Frog is one of those rare, mind-bending shows that lingers with you. It’s complex, layered, and constantly challenges your perceptions. From the start, I had no idea what to expect—even after reading the synopsis! Frequent time skips shift the plot between past and present, creating a puzzle that keeps you questioning until you piece it all together.

The show is built on a fascinating metaphor: it challenges viewers to imagine themselves as a frog struck randomly by a stone at the side of the road. Here, the serial killer represents that sudden, unpredictable “stone,” while the vacation house owner is the “frog,” forced to endure the consequences of something utterly out of their control. Through this setup, The Frog explores humanity’s instinct to rationalize why things happen. We’re conditioned to believe, “This happened to me because of something I did,” but the randomness in this story dismantles that logic. The unsettling truth becomes clear: some things just happen, regardless of our actions, and sometimes even the smallest bit of control is just an illusion.

The background music played a crucial role, adding suspense to every scene and amplifying the tension. The cast truly brought their characters to life. Go MinSi is unforgettable as the psychopath killer; she balances fragility and toughness in a way that sends chills down your spine. It was my first time seeing Kim Yoon Seok, and he brought a compelling mix of kindness, mystery, and a protective edge—he’s the type of character who seems okay with being messed with, but don’t even think about going near his friends and family. Lee Jung Eun stepped away from her usual warm-hearted mother roles, shining as a cool, badass cop. Although I wished she had more screen time, she made every moment count.

I ended up binge-watching the entire series in one day—it’s that gripping. This type of drama is definitely best experienced the first time, and while I may not re-watch it, the entire series was truly an intense journey worth taking and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who loves psychological thrillers.

Mystery x History but in a more fun way

Watching Apartment 404 is a journey -- I love it better and better as it progresses. At the beginning, I feel like on the same level as the casts are just trying to figure things out and it shows that even the staff members are also just figuring things out as they go which is the beauty of it. It can't be as genuine as it is. This is a new style of variety show where it's scripted and non-scripted at the same time and I am all for it.

The show kinda feels like a Running Man sub-show because the format has similarities, with the games and stuff but it also differs because this one is also trying to narrate a story. I really love that I get to know more different eras in Korea and the different social issues and histories they had to go through all these years. This format of story-telling is risky and it can easily be boring but they really got my full interest and it kept me wanting to know more about the stories. While some stories are more interesting than others, I think the chemistry of the cast made it a lot more fun. The dynamics of them being clumsy, funny, and competitive all at the same time made a lot of difference. A minor issue that I have is the BGM and the way things are being presented. For some reason, it sounds more horror-y and scary than the story actually is.

All in all, I had fun watching this and I really hope they renew for 2nd season. I'd definitely love to watch it.

This turned out better than I anticipated

I expected this to be subpar, another Busted copycat -- and in a lot of things, it may be but this is actually a good watch. It's been a while since I've seen something that I watched in one sitting and this is one of those rare occasions. I know half of the cast from a previous show and the other half I just knew them from this show which made me a bit worried because I'm unsure how the dynamic will be.

There are just 2 storylines across almost 6-hour watch but it definitely put me on the edge of my seat (or in my case, my bed). I am amazed at how they made the story complex without making it too complicated. Both stories are not connected but in each storyline, from the time they enter 'the transporter,' everything is interconnected and they made so it thrilling that I was so invested in knowing the secrets of these 2 mysteries. I honestly wanted more, I'd probably watch it if they'd release a 2nd season.

The overall feeling is similar to Busted but Agent of Mystery is a bit more serious and they're freaking good at solving the hints which made it kinda boring. (I'd probably fail the missions if I was there, I'm just a bit jealous they're all good. I'd love to be the dumb one in the group haha.)

Anyway, if you're into this mystery/detective genre, I'll definitely recommend it. There's some comedy in between, too (maybe around 15%) but the storyline is well-thought-out. It took me on a journey that I did really enjoy a lot.

The simplicity of the plot makes it for me

I was delighted to watch this movie. Aside from seeing familiar faces, I just really loved the simplicity of the plot itself. Most of the North Korean-themed movies I've watched are too complicated or too heavy to understand adding the fact that it's just a movie so usually I just end up confused but this one is so simple, you know what's going to happen, what's happening, and stuff. I kinda wanted to know more about the nomads in the story rather than them just being a device plot. Some might say it is predictable, but it definitely is but I guess this is my cup of tea.

Interesting plot but the overall impact falls short

This is one of the rare shows I occasionally watch impulsively after seeing a short-form video highlighting Suzy and Park BoGum's story. At first, I actually thought it was a series and thought that the main story was about Suzy and BoGum but as it turns out, their story is just one of the mini-stories within the bigger picture of the movie.

Personally, I think the premise is really interesting and I do love sci-fi. I've watched a couple of K-movies that made me change my mind positively towards their films (like Space Sweeper, etc.), but this one falls short for me. The plot seems to be underdeveloped. I didn't feel as immersed as usual because I think the key with the sci-fi genre is the storytelling that makes you believe it can be a reality -- in the not-so-far future or even if it can't be, it's at least emotionally relatable. I feel like I needed a lot more context to feel the characters fully.

It was kind of disappointing specially seeing some star-studded Halyu star faces. I felt like their potential was not maximized more than how we usually see them on other shows. Still I feel like it's a decent watch. The CGI is definitely high quality -- not the best but better than most.

This still could be a good weekend watch. Might be something you would enjoy. Personally, after watching a lot of shows, I felt like being a critic that minor details feels off for me.

This series is a roller coaster of events, people and genre

I have encountered another crime-thriller series even though I tried to avoid it as much as possible and I loved it?!? I do love the crime genre but it has been too heavy for me to watch it back-to-back so I'm trying to cleanse with some light-hearted series and this came up on my radar. The plot premise is interesting because it is mixed with comedy and supernatural. It's a risky combination and mostly doesn't end well but this one works. I love the mind games of me trying to guess who is the killer with the right amount of cheesiness here and there (where cringe is just funny enough). I encountered questionable moments/characters where I was like, ' Why the hell did XXXX do this or that?' but other than those, I really loved watching this series.

It's also nice to see Lee MinKi on a series again. The last drama I saw with him was on Flower Band (which is also a good one -- I remember having a crush on him while watching that series as well) And also the reason, why I watched this -- Han JiMin. I was still hooked with The Familiar Wife then saw JiMin on this series. The female and male lead had some questionable choices on the series but I just accepted as part of the story and kept past it.

The rap opening song was quite catchy and also the playful background music throughout the series. While not that memorable, I feel like it set the mood for the scenes on the series effectively.

I personally recommend this one with a light-crime plot while also having comedic relief and an interesting supernatural aspect of it. Plus the ending was reasonable. I was able to wrap it up in my head.

Decisions = Consequences whether you like it or not

I have a mixed feeling for this series. I was avoiding it for the longest time but then when I watched it, it's actually better than I imagined. Storyline-wise, I had a gist of what would happen and when I started to watch it, it was still kind of unexpected -- so there's an element of it being unpredictably predictable. At first, I just hate the male lead for being an ass and then gradually his character started to develop and I love how his character development went. Unfortunately, we can't say the same for the other characters because there was no continuity to their life, they just became an entirely new person after a minor change in the past that ultimately caused a butterfly effect. That's kind of where I am kind of disappointed because I can't really tell if the female lead on the 1st version, is the same as the 2nd version. They almost felt different. There were lots of questions in my mind as to whether if the time travel element wasn't present, would they improve the same way? What would've happened? I just felt like the female lead was completely deleted after all the time warp, but that's just my thought. This series also reminds me of a couple of other dramas like Go Back Couple and Emergency Couple.

JiSung and Han JiMin did a great job portraying their character though. I have watched tons of JiSung's dramas and he always delivers so it's nothing new to me. He has a wide spectrum of characters he can portray (the most iconic one for me is on Kill Me, Heal Me). For some reason, WooJin's mother is an iconic character in this series, too. I felt like she did a lot of roles to make the whole series make sense but I also love the mystery that surrounds her.

Overall, I did enjoy the time watching this. There were lots of cringe-y moments that kind of felt good. I watched this with my partner and we were having long discussions about making relationships healthier so that's a plus for me. This series kind of give you an idea what to do and what not to do in a relationship so I definitely recommend this. It's such a good show to watch with your partner.

Predictable plot with almost no character development

Just saw this randomly on Netflix and thought I can give this a try and oh boy was I disappointed. This was really hyped up when it was screening at the cinema (which is not surprising because Marian and DingDong is like 'The Real Life Couple' that can be considered as success and also they are really known as King and Queen of Filipino series)

Plot wise, I just find it really predictable. It's just as I imagined when I watched the trailer. The plot summary basically says it all. I was really preparing myself to cry but no need. I laughed hard instead. From what I know this is heartwarming or a touching story which it is by the way, it's just not impactful as I imagined. The best scene I like from the movie is the scene with Lodz which is not the main point of this movie at all. I also didn't see any character development from the leads, specially the male lead. I thought I'd be super sad and will think that they deserve better but honestly when I saw it I just thought, 'Yup, best outcome indeed. Nothing to cry for, it's just them living their best life.' I can't see any good outcome of the male lead to live continuously, everyone's just better without him.

Anyway, I still think that everyone acted well. Not the best that I've seen but not an eyesore either. Great OST choice 'Sa Susunod Na Habang Buhay', I loved this song since it was released and I think it fit perfectly on the theme of the movie.

Overall, not the kind of movie I'd recommend.

I am lucky to watch this

After seeing a trailer with the legendary Gwaenchana YiKyung, I just can't pass watching the movie because I knew it would be fun.

The story premise is kind of unique because for once we have North Koreans portrayed lighter than the usual -- didn't even imagine NoKor to be associated with Comedy.

Most of the casts are familiar faces I have seen from other KDramas or KMovies and to be honest they look really fun together. The story itself is not realistic however the character portrayal is just top notch. Wait until you see the Rollin' Rollin' scene that made me literally roll from laughing.

Overall, this was a light watch. It's not the best I've seen but this is definitely worth a watch when you're feeling down or if you just want to relax and have some fun.

That's unexpected but this movie is a win for me

Honestly, went in for IU and Park SeoJoon but this was an unexpected delight. As much as I love Korean dramas, I have a pretty traumatizing experience with Korean movies where I always end up feeling, 'what the hell did I just watch for 2 hours?' So if a Korean movie makes sense to me, I am easily satisfied. With that being said, is this movie perfect? Far from it. But did I enjoy watching it? Hell yeah.

The plot is kind of straight to the point. It's exactly as described but what made it fun for me is the journey of watching the characters grow. It didn't exactly start with a noble intention but they didn't know that they'll find meaning in creating the team, training with the team, and playing with the team. And with those little backstories from everyone, a perfect recipe to make someone cry. It just really felt natural to me like I was part of them so this is really heartwarming to me.

Other people say this movie was overrated. I'm not too sure about the technicalities of the elements of a movie but as an audience, if you're able to capture my emotions -- make me feel excited, cry and laugh then it's a damn great movie and I'm giving credit to it definitely. Plus the iconic 'fck u' scene of IU and Park SeoJoon. I can't get enough really.

I definitely recommend this movie if you just want something lighthearted that will warm your heart as well. This is definitely one of the best Korean movies I've seen.

I'm glad I survived This Zone

When I saw KwangSoo and JaeSeok with YuRi as a bonus, I immediately thought to myself this would be fun however seeing Running Man as the variety show standard, this fell short for me. I understand the rules about what they needed to do to win the zone and also that additional 'fun fact' about future scenarios where it might happen but I really can't get the essence of it all. It makes sense but at the same time, it doesn't. Kind of reminded me of Busted (however Busted is well-written for me)

It was still fun to watch though. I'd definitely regret it if I didn't see Lee-Yoo's antics and bickering and all the fun stuff but the 'storyline' or purpose of the whole show is kind of meh for me. Like what's the point of the Z Coins? Why are they doing this? And it kind of felt scripted at some point like they're in a new place but it felt like they kind of know where to go so I don't know about that.

A fun watch and I definitely recommend specially for RM fans but don't expect too much.

Just a fun light-hearted watch, Kind of Worth It for me

After falling deep in the world of Reply 1988, So Not Worth It is a nice palate cleanser if I would say although I'd rather have the literal title for this 'I Wish The World Get Fxxxed Tomorrow.'

Overall, this was a unique watch. I haven't heard of that many Korean sitcom and this one works. It's not really perfect nor it has like an extraordinary story but I guess the simplicity of show makes it charming for me. I love seeing and hearing foreigners speaking Korean like a real Korean. It's so impressive. But the real catcher for me is how all the characters has a bit of 'craziness' in them. I would just love to watch their daily life interacting with each other. It's quite funny for me and some scenes are a little bit cringey.

Not a big fan of the lovelines though. One scene did give me butterflies but after that, the lovelines became corny. But I still liked it overall. Sitcoms for me are all about out of this world scenarios. It's so crazy that it becomes funny.

To be honest, I kind of wanted more episodes. 12 episodes are a bit short for me. Not all may agree but I kinda want a second season. It's not that long and it's funny so I guess it's worth it after all.

This drama in 5 words, "What really happened to Ian?"

When I first stumble upon this drama I was so excited because SeJeong is the female lead. I just kind of wonder why it wasn't on my radar at all (meaning not famous or didn't created any buzz) but as I started watching it, I realized why.

Let's start with the plot. First impression wasn't really that good to be honest. It took me several episodes before I started to figure out what was happening. Then I started to realize that we need to find out what happen to Ian and that gets more frustrating. I felt like the story was unnecessarily stretched to complete the 32-episodes. This could've been a movie without all the unnecessary drama. I just started to like the last 4 episodes because that's where things started to come around like finally we're knowing what the hell happened to Ian. All the in betweens are meh. I just watched it in hopes that it'll get better. I was kind of relieved though that it had a decent ending.

Cast-wise, not sure if there was chemistry or nothing at all. I mean I'm not even sure if they were bad at acting or was it because of the terrible writing. I seriously just watched this because of SeJeong. (I'm kinda biased here, but SeJeong did pretty well to me at least. Not Daesang award level but for me she expressed the character's emotions well.)

I love classical music but the music played throughout the series wasn't notable for me. Unlike other musical dramas where I had to add the songs to my playlist, this was meh for me. I did like the song that SeJeong sang on the drama though. It was catchy to the ear (or maybe because SeJeong sang it.? P.S: huge Queen SeJeong fan hahaha)

Overall, I really want some of my time back after watching this. If you're a SeJeong fan like me, maybe you might have the time and patience to watch this series. If not, just skip to the last 4 episodes to find out what happened to Ian. However, it's not really something I can recommend.

Light-hearted youth romance

There's nothing outstanding on the plot itself, it's a typical high school story of friendship, crushes, romance, love triangle and such but still it sends butterflies on my stomach as I'm watching it. I love the journey of them getting older. I felt like I was growing with them. I saw a lot of negative comments regarding the 'remake' however I wasn't able to watch the original version yet so I can't really compare it to that.

If there's one thing that left a mark on my mind, it was how pure is the second lead's feelings towards the main lead to the point that he even set his feelings aside just to make SolYi happy. That was so touching for me. The casts chemistry is superb and I just feel energized watching them.

I love that they used Kim JongKook's song 'Lovable' as the OST. I am definitely singing it on my mind most of the time.

If you just want a chill series to watch that will bring you back to your high school days, this is definitely a must watch. It's just a nice stress reliever after a long day.

Ready your weapons as you dive in to assassins' world

It was such a great movie for me. The story is very interesting and logical. I love how it was portrayed and executed. All the scenes that led to one another makes sense. I felt like I'm watching an outcome of the outcome which means it felt natural. The trivial details is also a part of a bigger picture. The mother-daughter relationship is also relatable.

I love how BokSoon was perfectly casted. She really had that assassin aura and mother aura at the same time which made it more realistic to watch. Although it is a bit far-fetched, I want to see sequel for this movie.

It was an unexpectedly great watch. I haven't seen a movie this good in a while. I just loved it.
