Superb drama that explores the grey areas in life
First of, this drama gives off a new flavor on the romance genre, it has that unique charm that other dramas lack of which is warmth and sincerity. At first, I was hesitant because crime and romance isn't really a genre that mix together quite well but through this drama, I realized it is possible. What I love about this drama is that more than romance, they focused on the complexity of each characters development and explored the relationships between the characters on a deeper level. On the downside, I wasn't really happy about some parts where they try to give off piece by piece information about the past because personally for me doing the flashbacks are only effective if there's an impact or tension but on this one it's like they're giving out Q&A. You know the answer but you're just waiting to confirm if you're correct. I just thought it would be better if they completed the past then gave flashbacks only if necessary. Nonetheless, this drama is still great because it's not too dreamy and really close to reality.Anyway another thing I really commend on this drama are the casts and their excellent acting skills. I felt the continuity of the story from the past and present. I really felt like the younger ones grew up for real. They had the same facial expression, same attitude and characteristics. Out of all dramas I watched that dealt with past and present, I can confidently say that this is the best among them. I am also shocked to see myself empathizing on an antagonist which lies on the grey area, portraying as the bad guy but is really warm inside. The best part of this drama is that, the events are negative and unfortunate but the characters remain positive and tried to solve the problem without getting swayed by it. Other dramas usually gives tragic scenes where it is completely unfair that the characters were forced to change, sometimes sacrificing something that's really precious to them but this drama is different. It allowed the characters to grow together while fighting together and also grow individually on their own as time passes.
This is really a hidden gem as indicated on the article where I discover this drama. I didn't mind being sad with the characters because I feel their sincerity and care towards each other which makes me believe that sadness is something we feel because we are human. Instead of running away, we must embrace it so that we can grow for the better.
The message of this movie is something worthy but some comedic parts might be inappropriate in a way
I actually waited this movie to be aired in Netflix and when I finally watched it, there's a part of me that's disappointed but at the same time glad that I watched it. So just a brief preview the story revolves on a woman who's too desperate to have a boyfriend and be devirginized. A lot of the scripts were Filipino slangs that are sexual references. The movie also attempted to break the Filipino culture of being conservative and religious, not that it mattered to me but if you're someone who's easily offended with those type of jokes, you can skip this one. Nonetheless, the message in this film is worth it specially for those single people who are feeling the pressure of being left out without a partner.
Mystery murder in a school setting and a bit of romance
This is one of those average mystery murder story that's neither good or bad. The mystery factor was kept until the end so it's pretty nice. It wasn't expected at all and I think that's a good point in a mystery film. I just felt like it was lacking with something I can't pinpoint. The main leads were able to portray their roles effectively. They both look innocent like real students. It's actually good to see Yoo SeungHo and Kang SoRa on their younger years and made me realizes how they turned out to be great actor and actress of today.
This is something good to watch once but of course once you solved the mystery, it takes the fun of it and it might hard to rewatch it.
Tackles cyberbullying and social media culture through an unsolved mystery
I'm challenging you to solve the mystery on this movie because it ended up without answers. I have quite an expectation when I watched this because the plot is something interesting, I'm just not sure if my expectations were too high or if the movie didn't really give justice to it or what. The casts acted so great but the story became more of a confusion to me than curiosity of what's gonna happen next. I just watched along hoping that maybe the end will give me answers but unfortunately, I had more questions. For one, I'm not really familiar about social media culture of Koreans. Second, plot wise I had lots of confusions but the message is there, cyber bullying can be dangerous specially when it meets reality and became a real life bullying. Words can be a knife so we have to be responsible about our words, specially in the internet where people can become who they are not.
At least I can say this is worth a watch if you want mystery films.
Mystery fiction full of twists that connects the real world and the afterlife
For me this drama is a bit half-half. There were parts that I love and parts that are not really my style. First of all for those people who's into mystery and fiction, this is a go to option because to be honest the plot twists here are mind-blowing. Although I also have to note that the first half is a bit bland for me because I actually stopped watching this for weeks but on the second half when I got back to it, it definitely got my attention and get to love the drama already even though it's more on a tragedy theme. The main leads was able to portray the characters effectively especially the male lead since he basically had two personalities to portray. Personally, I don't like them much because of the vibe their giving off to me but with the acting itself they are really good.
Since this drama was released in Netflix and is targeted for international market, the OSTs are mostly English and a little gloomy which actually suit the theme of the drama.
Overall, I can't say it's a 'Must Watch' drama but definitely it is worth giving a shot.
Cliché ghost story seeking revenge but saved by great acting
This movie in general is an average movie. The plot isn't as good as my expectations. I actually stopped watching halfway but decided to continue watching the rest later on. On the latter part, lot of plot twists happen but it still didn't par on what I'm looking for. For those who love horror, this doesn't have lots of jumpscare and is more on the dramatic side.Thankfully this movie was saved by the actors/actresses themselves specially for the little girl Eun Seo Woo who acted her role pretty damn well. Also the main characters on the story made the film a little bit easier to endure.
The main song on the film Moonlight Sonata became an earworm for me. At first I thought it was eerie to hear but then as the film goes along I felt the bitterness and pain.
This isn't a film that I would really watch again but for those who's not really into hardcore horror and jumpscares, this one is a great starter.
Great casting bringing my favorites together and the awkwardness is really funny.
The concept of the story isn't really bad. It was actually creative from my perspective and I love it because I got to see more of the reality of the casts. Although it might not be really an 'entertainment material' due to the blank and awkward moments. Some people might find it boring specially if they are not familiar with the casts. Personally, it's fun for me. I had great laughs on the awkwardness of these 'homebodies' and I wanna see more of it. I am a 'homebody' myself so somehow I can relate to them. The casts have unique personalities but commonly on the introverted side. It's funny to watch them making a fun game into a boring one due to their awkwardness and it's really touching when you see them bonding together.
The editing team was able to bring dull parts to life and I don't really mind those dull moments because it's very realistic. You will know that it's really them and they are showing who they really are.
I am looking forward with the continuation of this because I'm really expecting them to be closer with each other.
Shocking on an unimaginable level
First of all I would like to say that of all the historical drama or movies this one left me speechless. On the first few minutes I was already shocked at an unimaginable way. I didn't see what's coming. As I stride along the story, it slowly shows the absurdity of life -- homosexuality, treason, love triangle and secret affairs. I got some confusions with the emotions maybe because I'm not able to relate so much with the homosexuality theme but still it's a really good one, maybe with less explicit scene. I think it would be better if the characters like the Chief and the Queen was able to express more of the love in a different way other than doing 'it.'The casts are really plausible. They've done their best to give life to the characters that they portrayed. It was too convincing that I even thought they're not just acting. Blank Jihyo really shocked the hell out of me. I was watching her on Running Man and I didn't expect that her acting skill is this superb. I really commend her for that. Specially the King and the Chief, they took a very challenging role and was able to conquer it.
I really love the sound of traditional instruments on historical dramas. It gives off peace and uniqueness. It intensifies as well the theme of the story.
This might be part of my medium priority in re-watch.
Fairly good even if the Chinese version is better for me
I am not really a fan of genre which involves murderous acts with psychotic suspects because I don't really get why are they doing it. It just makes me feel upset and I want to kill them myself. I watched this because I previously watched the Chinese version of this and I think it gave more impact than this Korean version. The plot is quite unique because it utilizes the idea that being handicapped is not a reason for you to stop trying. It doesn't make you less of a person. Also it's good to see a younger version of Seung Ho as well on this movie and his presence actually gave a bit of an impact to this movie plus a bonus of Park Bo Gum on his younger years. The sound effect keep the mood going and adds more thrill to the scene. It's really not a type of movie that I would want to watch again due to personal taste but I think it is fine overall.
The story is good overall but it's too draggy in the middle
As for the story, it might be a bit predictable but still it's fine. You can grasp the lesson through it's simplicity although there were conflicts on the story that are being dragged on making the story progression a bit slow and boring. It's a typical plot of the main lead being trampled over but became successful towards the end. It also introduces that a woman can date younger man and age is just merely a number. The casts were pretty good in their roles. I noticed that Jang Na Ra is quite good in the roles of being bullied and that kind, soft-hearted to the point that she seems like a fool and warm person 'feels' just like on Fated to Love You. The male lead has that immature role and I think it was way too immature than how it is supposed to be, but still I love that concept of him loving the female lead as if he will do anything for her.
The music is not that notable, it doesn't give much of impact to me but at least it sets the mood of the drama correctly.
It's a pretty decent drama and I didn't regret watching this, it's just unlikely for me to give this another round to watch those 20 episodes again because it doesn't gave me that much of excitement and I feel that I'd rather discover newer drama to watch than to rewatch this.
This is so disappointing. I'm heartbroken that I have to drop this.
The Uncanny Counter is proudly one of the best k-dramas I've watched and I even recommend it to everyone that asks but this Season 2 is utterly disappointing. The depth from Season 1 is just gone out of the window. The characters also kind of downgraded from their complex back stories from Season 1, they became a boring backdrop. It doesn't even feel like a team fight than they first started. Jeokbong became a laughing mascot. Like wth? I heard the writer changed but this is super sad and disappointing. I think I'd rather read the webtoon version than finishing this. This is is one of the rare instance of me having to drop a series because the story is getting draggy and I just know there's a low chance of it getting better. But I am hoping I'd pick this up again in the future and possibly give it a second chance.
Space sci-fi movie with an interesting storyline
This movie is a hell of a ride of sci-fi entertainment with a purpose. It kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.Let's start with the CGs, it was made masterfully and outstandingly. I'm not really a fan of space sci-fi movie but this kinda changed my mind. I love how the movie also have an interesting plot that can stir the audience's emotions.
Another plus is the casts, the team inside the Victory Ship had that chemistry making it more convincing that they are a team. Cute Dorothy also made my heart melt because she's so innocent and pretty. Making a female captain also made this unique from most line up although to be honest, Song JoongKi still have the 'captain vibes' more than TaeRi but still a great execution.
It's rare for me to want watching a movie on a cinema but this is one of the movies I would pay for to watch it on that blockbuster cinema environment. (Unfortunately, it's only available via Netflix)
I really recommend this movie. In fact, I can consider it as one of my favorite Korean movies of all time.
Jam-packed with amazing plot and casts , more than just a heist film
This film is thrilling, exciting with a lot of stories in one.The plot of the film is an art on itself. At first you might think this is just a heist film that will amaze you with their cool trickery to perform the heist, deceit and betrayals but it's totally more than that. It actually gave a little bit of almost everything from romance to drama altogether without ruining the mood of the film. The ending is also correlated to how it started so it's one of the best wrap up in the movie that I've seen.
All the actors were actually known as veteran actors and actresses that actually gives more excitement on each and every scene. Although everyone performed well, I specially notice Jun JiHyun on this film. It might be my personal bias because I really watched this film because of her in the first place after I heard that it was filmed while she was pregnant given that most of her scenes here were actually wire scenes. I was amazed by the fact she was doing that. After watching the film, I realized that this films seems to be a premonition of her succeeding dramas like how sassy and goofy her character is on My Love From The Star partnered with Kim SooHyun and also Legend of the Blue Sea from the pool scene.
If you're into films that's more than just what it seems, this is highly recommended.
A great detective variety show and drama in one
This is seriously a great show if you love variety shows, detective-like missions and for a bonus it follows a main plot line like a drama as well. From what I know this is semi-scripted because as I've mentioned there is a main plot line going on throughout the series. But most of the lines are spontaneous as well making the connections among the casts real and natural. You can think with the cast on the challenges and also laugh with their unintentional gags. Aside from the missions/challenges they were solving the main story plot twists will also blow your mind. It's like a mystery within a mystery so this is really something that is a full package. The casts were chosen effectively because each character gives off different flavors which complements on each other so the comedic side of this show is not forced at all. I really liked that there is a contrast going on among the casts where some are smart solving the problems and those who were lagging behind but was able to surprise us with an unexpected skill they were good at.
The next season is a must watch as well. I definitely recommend this show with two thumbs up!
3-Star Michelin Chef in Joseon
Bon Appetit gave me strong Mr. Queen energy, but with its own flavor that sets it apart. While Mr. Queen leans heavily on rom com chaos, this one takes a more grounded approach. The romance has weight, the politics add tension, and the cooking scenes tie everything together in a way that feels thoughtful instead of gimmicky. It’s that sweet spot where you’re entertained but still pulled into the story’s layers. The pacing sits right in the middle too. Not too simple, not too tangled, just enough suspense to keep you saying “one more episode” until you realize you’ve finished the whole thing in two days. What really hooked me was how several characters sat in that gray area where you’re not sure if they’re good or bad. By the end, that duality actually makes the entire drama feel richer and more memorable.
I genuinely loved this show, and it stays with me even after the final episode. My only tiny wish is that it had a standout OST I could cling to and replay whenever I want to relive the experience. Other than that, it’s a beautifully balanced watch that delivers charm, depth, and flavor all at once.
