He's an amazing actor and I'm looking forward to his next dramas. I enjoyed Empress Ki and totally loved Warrior Baek Dong Soo- the best bromance ever seriously- but Healer and K2 didn't meet my expectations. Thank you for your great article. :)
Although I dropped dots, Capitan Yoo Shi Jin is really the most charming dramaguy I've ever seen. As for Louis, lots of kisses for Seo In Guk but all the aegyo was unbearable and I couldn't stand this character.
I had watched it up to ep 14 and did't really need more. It got too predictable and quite dull. Lee Joon's performance was really enjoyable, though and I decided to watch all Tae Oh & Ji Wool scenes left. The relation between them and also the relation between Tae Oh and Maria were what I was the most interested in actually. I also liked some details- how the criminal seeked a way out, references to Crime and Punishment and reactions to death punishment.
Picked it up again because I needed something that wouldn't require me to think. It's still weird, cliche, 'secrets' are everywhere but I must say I kind of enjoyed it. Sassy Yeo Wool is fun to watch- his poses, facial expressions and moves are perfect. I don't feel the SW&AR romance but chemistry between AR&JD is still great, idk why they suddenly made AR not interested in JD and had her say everything was pity. It won't stop me from having 2nd lead syndome lol.
But are they going to make SW King's stepbrother or sth now? He can't be the medician's son though. Seriously, this drama :')
I want to start this drama, but what is it actually about?
The guys' pretty faces. No, I'm kidding, it is about noble guys doing various assignments, a family thet keeps getting involved with the quuen, love triangle and secrets- that kind of stuff plus fight for influence (but not as serious(?) as in other historical dramas- I can't really feel it). But mostly about the guys' pretty faces.
I have seen 2 eps and it feels more like an idol MV than a sageuk. At the moment. Its lacking depth for me hope…
Dropped it after ep4 and it seems it was the right thing to do. Instead, I've watched Warrior Baek Dong Soo and it totally lived up to my expectations. Hwarang is mostly about guys' pretty faces I think.
I was aware that the writers have been craving for our Unie's blood since like the first ep he appeared in but I still really wished for him to live. They deceived me with that big talk about how fate can be changed. Not only did they get him killed anyways but also they made it so unoriginal and forced- everything was going pretty well so of course there has to be an 'unexpected' plot twist because we need tragedy. Also, Cho Rip's sudden change of heart messed up his character. (For a sec I wanted him to die at the spot and was mad when it turned out that he made it.) But, although I didn't like the whole situation and Un dying, the jump and throwing knifes away was beautiful.
I liked this drama though. It was predictable but wasn't dragging and the characters were very likable. Sky Lord Chun and Yeo Un were definitely my favourite. How Un cherished friendship, loved his friends and how he was shaken and touched every time he met with Dong Soo- Yeo Un was sweet.
My thoughts all the time: eyebrows on fleek.
I've watched this drama up to ep 4 and don't feel like watching it any further. The story isn't that interesting or orginal and so are the characters. Also, they made everything look modern idk, the Hwarang thing is odd, palace affairs don't feel serious enought. For me personaly this drama is a waste of time but I can't say it isn't enjoyable at all.
+ I got fatal second lead syndrome, the chemistry between GA and PHS is amazing. I loved the scene at the party in ep 2!!!
