Why did they change his voice? It's distracting. Is it dubbed? For now the first 12 episodes didn't get me hooked.…
Had a whiplash when I first heard his dubbing voice but it kind of grows on me. The dubbing doesn't bother me as much, this coming from a girl who hates watching dubbed anime.
I feel like I ought to explain this. Five years prior to meeting Xue Zhi, someone destroyed Tou's martial arts cultivation, which is essentially his inner energy, and poisoned him. When Master Lin, Xue Zhi's adopted father found him, he gave him the poison immune pill to get rid of the poison, but Tou was as good as a normal person without his cultivation. Master Lin felt like he has a great potential to be a martial arts master, hence passing half of his cultivation to Tou so he could train again. Fast forward to five years later, Tou is indebted to Master Lin so he agreed to take care of Xue Zhi, until it's more for his sake rather than for Master Lin. But because he rejected Xue Zhi, she refused to be in his care and he had no other way to protect her than to give her the ability to protect herself -- his cultivation. Tou is right, the cultivation belonged to Master Lin anyway so it isn't wrong to give it to Xue Zhi who definitely need it more. Also, Tou has long kept himself out of the martial arts world and the palace court, so at the time he didn't feel like he needed the cultivation as much as Xue Zhi who's trying to regain power within Hall of Flame and the martial arts world.
I think the fact that Xue Zhi now has the cultivation and begun training for the Nine Moves is a great balance for their relationship. The Nine Moves and Lotus Sutra originated from Hall of Flames so given this chance, Xue Zhi can properly cultivate her martial arts and in the process teach Tou (hinted in the trailers). I don't like it when the power shift heavily on one side of a relationship, but with this development, Xue Zhi and Tou can both complement and perfect one another without having to compromise anything since she's capable of helping him to regain his cultivation. I'm sure he will regain his strength soon because the preview of episode 18 shows that Xue Zhi is going to Moon Valley to help Tou with that.
Poor Xuezhi trying to get away from Shangguan Tou after he rejected her but seems to be stuck with him. That conversation…
Ugh, same. His tears got to me too. But I think the thing is with Tou is that he never does ambiguity, which is why he firmly rejected Xue Zhi, just like he did with Feng Zi, so that he wouldn't lead them on or give them false hope. Of course as viewers, we're privy to his thoughts and could see that he's lying to himself and suffering the consequences of his lies, but to him it's necessary to keep Xue Zhi from future pain. I'm just glad that he's finally moving on from that and has hinted that he's ready to love someone now.
Shi*t just got real!!!! I am officially done!!!!!!!!!!
Same. I am through with this drama. Sorry Soo Hyuk/Hyung Bin, I can't watch this garbage anymore. I'm off to C-dramaland forever, never coming back for trashy K-dramas like this.
I finished 15 and 16, what do you wanna know? There isn't much going on, except for Lang Ya's death. There is…
I think the significance of his death here is to show Tou that life is fleeting and he should seize the day before he loses the one he loves. I agree that the plot execution in this scene is flawed, but I'm thankful that we didn't get too deep into his character to dwell on his death.
For me, this drama moves too fast in the first two episodes with introduction of all the many characters, it felt…
Too.many.damn.characters.introduction! I couldn't even keep up with who's who in the beginning. Too much sect and characters tbh. I did feel a little sad that the main couple spent some time apart, but it pays to see their growth in their respective time, and it helps them to grow into a couple rather than as a couple. I was watching some trailers and osts last night, I'm so ready for the sweetness and heartache, bring it on!

I suspect his jealousy dates back to their childhood in the Sword Manor, plus they're always talking about an incident involving Tou and Feng Zi in the past which might piss Qing Mei even more. Qing Mei is also jealous of the fact that Tou is the son of the imperial advisor, basically Tou has everything including the girl, but he does not. I can understand his motivation, I just liked him better in the beginning when he was an upright guy.
It's so nice to see Leo in a lead role, I just hope he gets the girl in the end. We shall see how this drama plays…
Right? My heart really goes out to him in Ashes of Love. I could even understand when he turned dark, I don't necessarily like it but I can see why the circumstances just drove him to a corner. But, I'm glad for one he's so flirty and smiley here with the female lead. Not to mention, their cute banters and interactions. Can't wait till they're an official couple.
Chinese speakers should watch ep 15 and 16 raw and spoil it for us lol.
I finished 15 and 16, what do you wanna know? There isn't much going on, except for Lang Ya's death. There is one scene where Tou and Xue Zhi were discussing what he's been up to for the whole year they hadn't seen each other, he told her he found out something about his origin and came to understand his dad, also he's willing to open his heart to love someone else (my guess he was hinting he's ready to take on her love. Ugh, so adorable this couple), so she tested the water by asking if their ending would have been different if they met when he has already opened up his heart, he was contemplating how to answer when they were interrupted by burnt medicine and Mu Yuan's news of getting sick. Qing Mei's character took a little turn to the dark side albeit unintentional. Hmm, can't really say the plot moves much. Everything else is just tiny details.
I don't understand everyone's beef about Yukee's acting, I honestly don't really see any problem with her acting. Her character might be a little dense in the beginning, but I can see where she's coming from. Also, I have watched till episode 15 so far and I can see how her character is growing and maturing, definitely my kind of female lead.
As for the romance, I wasn't feeling the couple at the beginning, but Leo's smile and the way he looks at Yukee melt me every single time. By episode 8, I was sold on the couple. I really love the way they exchange glances and smile at each other, seriously, my mouth was hurting from smiling like an idiot with them. I even cried when they cried. I adore them so much I wish they're together already. I am so impatient.
as much as i want her to be with JB but i am gonna be realistic , this is only my thought , i guess her body at…
That...doesn't make sense at all because she's been living with her current heart for years. If her body rejects the heart, that should have happened years ago. Why now?
