People saying the FL “ruined” the show seriously need to read the novel first to understand just how irritating Wei Zhi was written to be 😩 Like, I love Esther — she nailed the character exactly how it was written. If anything, she made Wei Zhi more tolerable onscreen!
When I read the novel, I was constantly infuriated at how infantilized Wei Zhi was. The author literally kept describing her as “like an elementary school student.” Like??? Why was that necessary?? 😤

I honestly watched this just for the second couple. Even though I skipped around 90% of the main story, Nian-Nian and Sujie’s love line made it worth it.
Their confession scene was so cute—definitely a highlight! But the background song totally threw me off. Why play a breakup track during such a sweet moment? And the lyrics overlapping with their dialogue made it hard to focus. A bit of a letdown in an otherwise great scene.
Loved this one! It’s the classic “doormat FL wakes up, dumps the scumbag, and finally finds true love” trope—but the storytelling is surprisingly cohesive.
The FL, ML, and even the SML are total eye candy, and I loved that there were no annoying relatives or draggy love triangles (you know, the kind where the green tea side character gets her way in every episode 🙄).
And best of all? Tons of ML doting on the adorable FL. Pure fluff and satisfaction!
