Probably after their first kiss? Or after their 2nd one? But still it will stay as a shortcoming for this drama.…
I mean, it does seem like it was all of a sudden but I do think it comes in part that she has had feelings for Ling Xiao ever since they were kids and teens (from trying to get his attention as kids, to being drawn to him and constantly worrying/thinking about him in their teens). Sure, may not be the same type of romantic love rn but it was the precursor to show that she treats him differently and does have some sort of feeling for him. Hence, I do understand that she would immediately consider liking him after their first or second kiss because it made her rethink their relationship.
how much romance is in this? like can someone give me a percentage estimate? thx :)
There's absolutely romance in this but it comes in different forms at different times:
Within the first 10-12 episodes or so, it's when the characters are children/teenagers. There is love during this set of episodes but it builds up as a backstory in a way, displaying pure and innocent love one can expect from teenage years (as the love isn't really screaming 'I LOVE YOU', but more like cute interactions that make you ship the characters and just enjoy the chemistry). It also emphasizes the ties between all the characters
The actual romance comes afterwards and builds up from there as the characters are adults. There, it becomes more explicit (without spoiling too much) with characters actually expressing love.
It definitely has romance in it but it's also a very pure love that builds up throughout the show. The show also emphasizes a lot of other topics such as family and friendship so there's a good balance. Definitely a very enjoyable and cute show. :)
At 27, Ziqiu is very immature in the boy/girl stuff. He doesn't even know what romantic love is. His love for…
I agree that he can't tell the difference between romantic and platonic love. Ziqiu has grown up liking Jianjian as a sister. Those 9 years of separation from each other, however, have blurred the lines for him when it comes to love. However, he'll realize soon enough that he truly loves Jianjian as a sibling and will eventually turn to Mingyue.
40 episodes is too much doubt it'll keep up with this quality for long
I think it will. I'm also doubtful when a show is airing for a "longer than usual" amount of time but based on some recent shows that I've watched (including Arsenal Military Academy which was 48 episodes), I think it'll be able to keep the story and plot interesting until the end.
