it's interesting to see the disparity between international and chinese audience. While this drama has got such a high rating here and in Douban (most used chinese rating website) it got 7.7 ... while drama such as NIF got 9.3 there ...

Reallyy?Sometimes i prefer the rating on Douban for cdramas tbh I find that they tend to be more critical in the actors acting and overall storyline in a drama..... And i was genuinely surprised this drama got that high of a rating there

Will this show end after season 2? I don't want to start watching if there will be no conclusive end.

So true! that's one of my biggest critique also. but overall it's still an amazing drama

li qin is so gorgeous here no joke and her acting is on point.. i wish in the future they give her another historical cdrama but with better script

if anyone is hesitating to watch this drama because they find the actors/actressess unattractive, i feel like it would be a shame. This drama is much more than that and probably not suitable for the younger people. I find that mydramalist tends to favor idol dramas more than serious drama like this. I don't' understand how this masterpiece can even be rated 8.6 . After so many years, this drama has the best production amongst all the Qing Palace dramas and the overall quality is just top notch (even more so than the recent yanxi palace one in my opinion even though that one is amazing too)

Even after so many years. still misses this drama from time to time. It just shows how great the storytelling is. I wish historical cdramas nowadays have this kind of vibe but it's hard to find.

yeah there's indeed not many good modern cdrama. hoping that in the future there are more dramas with the same vibe as this

yeah honestly if they want to make us believe her redemption arc they should have started it a few more episodes ago. It's just not believable for us viewers that she suddenly accepts LJJ and her family after she accumulated so much hatred from them for like the past 38 episodes. I much prefer her going completely crazy that she needs to get in a psychiatric hospital tbh i feel like it is more in line with how her character is going lol

worth to watch. better than a love is beautiful in my opinion. if u don't like unnecessary scenes then just skip/fast forward them lol

agreed i hate it when writers do that.like forcing the characters to do something out of their character just to end the storyline. it's so awkward.

agreed when it's amazing, it's really amazing. And i do feel like in the realm of modern cdramas it's rare to have such endearing moments.
I'm also in favor of having more ling xiao and jian jian scenes, i feel like it's needed to show more of their love at the end lol

and i've got to say why do chinese drama has so many episodes (40 eps) and most choose the last 2-3 episodes to develop and provide closure to what is essentially the main story line. I realize it often happen in cdramas and i don't understand why because it's not like they have to fit in all the storyline in a small number of episodes. I feel like with this drama the first 10-15 episodes was perfectly spot on though which i have to give them credit for.

Yeah agreed needed much more time to go deeper into their romantic relationship. I'm really unsatisfied with how out of all scenarios the writer chose chen ting trying to kill herself at the end. I feel like it's just a cop out. I don't think Her and ling xiao's past can be resolved that easily because the pain is just so deep and has been going on for so long that i dont think chen ting can let it go so easily. unless she get into a psychiatric hospital at the end and ling xiao get psychological treatment to come into terms with the mental abuse her mom has been giving him.

Regardless it's still a great drama. possibly the best cdrama this year
