geez, the other commenter is, uh, really passionate about this show. I agree with everything you wrote, and I…
Thanks for the support! 😊 Lol I know, it was surprising to get such vehement hate for this review, i have some hot takes sometimes and my opinions aren't always the most popular, but this didn't seem like the drama hill to die on lol, I was confused at the intensity. Oh well. Still stand by my review, thanks for commenting!
To this day this is still one of my favorite Cdramas, the characters in this show are some of the most loveable and adorable ones I've seen, it feels like they just don't make shows like this anymore. If you have Chinese show recs I'll take them! I love a good character development in a fun rom-com 🥰
Word of Honor was really cheeky about changing for the censorship too. They redubbed a few lines but Chinese speakers…
I loved it lol, I can't remember much since it was so long ago, but I don't remember them redubbing over some parts. I feel like even the translations in a lot of Chinese bls are lacking, like sure that's what he said, but that's not what he MEANS! Outside of like a long translator note at the bottom though, it's hard to capture things like that, especially when they intentionally happen so fast.
Lots of questions in the comments so I figured this might help--
Air dates so far have been posted for the first 15 episodes, the first 8 will be RE-aired Fridays on wowow between the 20th-28th of March, and then TWO NEW EPISODES air every Friday starting in April! I imagine the remaining 15 of the 30 episodes will keep airing 2 at a time on Fridays.
For background, Justice in the Dark was the third BL novel that Priest wrote to get a TV adaptation. The first was Guardian(2018), which was initially pulled off the air because of CCP censorship, but later put back up after censoring most the BL themes out. Next came Word of Honor, they were intentional with their production with this one to ensure that scenes would pass censorship. Then in 2023 Justice in the Dark started releasing episodes, but by episode 8 was canceled by censorship-- luckily we got the great news that it's been picked up by a Japanese company that plans to release all 30 episodes!
Yeah, so normally I'm all about the story and development, but in this case I just don't care how corny or cliché this looks, I'm so here for it. Their chemistry looks fire 🔥
I loved this. It felt like such a throwback to old bl manga storylines, it gave classic jbl vibes, and I really miss shows like this. It might not get the highest ratings or draw a crazy fandom, but the way Jdramas like this can capture the dramatics of every day life is completely unparalleled. I loved their quirky chemistry and imperfect story ❤️
How good is this? I’m usually not that interested in GMMTV dramas
It's adorable, I'd say the story is average but the acting and sweetness are incredible. I'm not usually thrilled with GMMTV these days either, but so far this one is a keeper
I'm 1000% for the main cpl, ThamePo chemistry is incredible, but when Po looked up at Jun thinking he was Thame as they crossed the street, I wanted to watch a whole different series right then 😭
Also EstWilliam is even cuter behind the scenes, who told William to react like that, such cuties <3
I don't even care if this show is a flop( i mean obviously it would be great if its good but), I'll watch everything with PerthSanta because in the years and years that Perth has been in BL, he's never smiled the way he does with Nong Ta. Freaking cute. I think Perth really needed someone closer to his age that doesn't worry about what the rest of the world thinks, Saint and Chimon are cool but could never be that for him. People miss SantaEarth but I think Earth always took over as the center of attention, Santa is a beautiful freaking ray of sunshine and I think he and Perth needed each other.
Pond has the acting skill to be in a serious mature themed BL instead of this mess.
I know! And they really could too, ive seen their bts and tiktoks, the actors have some natural chemistry.
Yeah I started getting that feeling when I saw Pond (Naravit) arguing with New on set of We Are, if the director needs to be put in his place by actors like Pond N who is the easygoing (not a pushover) type, there's gotta be something happening

I love Earth's sassy nature, but nearly every role that Earth has played ended up insufferably whiny, ultra timid, or a terrible combination of both. I'm tired of seeing untapped talent go to waste, Pond was the straw that broke the camels back for me though because that man deserves awards, half the community is only going to know him for this dull role and think he's a b-list actor, poor Pond!
I don’t think gmmtv has anything to do with this!!
@BadPenny exactly! Thanks for the clarification, it totally doesn't help when you have Wabi Sabi suddenly quitting on the talent management front, so half their actors jump to gmmtv. There's way too many overlaps in the Thai BL world, all I know is it's the same mediocre bs that keeps getting pushed out by talented crew's and actors just to make a quick series, quantity over quality these days!

Exactly! I was really looking forward to seeing him as the ML in something new, but what is this! I also don't think he and Earth have good chemistry, but that might just be me

Please someone tell me they watched the full series and that it gets better T-T
This is like 20 years ago level of cringe, what in the back alley production is this!
