That ending was so weird, wasn't it? Didn't feel like a conclusion at all, not like a possible season 2 cliffhanger, it was just meh. And I did struggle with the leads' dynamic a bit, it felt very unequal at times and I wasn't a fan.
I have very mixed feelings about this series. I wanted to enjoy it, I really did, but I can't be 100% supportive of the main characters. They have lovely chemistry, but each episode felt like a new made-up problem was bound to appear, and the resolution did not feel final for me at all. Like, I expect the same thing to continue in the future. Jaemin being insecure and closed off, always undecided about pretty much everything. Namyi being the bigger person and always patching up their issues (which honestly felt like putting a bandaid on a stab wound, if you ask me), but also pushing decisions and his good intentions for both of them. Something did not sit right for me in their dynamic. I saw someone on the internet calling them a great example of a healthy relationship, but I don't see it. Like, I appreciate that they communicated their feelings, but it was always after something has already been incorrectly assumed and made them break. And they're both controlling and insecure about other people in their lives, checking each other's phones, assuming the worst. That's not healthy. And that thing at the end with buying them surprise tickets to go to Canada? Not cool. Decisions like that should be made together, not thrown at the other person like that. Ugh, this is so frustrating, I really wish I could like this story better.
The last episode almost made it worth it. But honestly, Shirasaki is exactly the kind of character I hate, emotionally constipated for the most part, to the point of being painful to watch at times. For someone who's supposed to be this brilliant actor whose job is to analyse and portray complex feelings, he sure as hell doesn't know how to express them in real life xd I don't mind a slow burn, but the inability to emote was killing my vibe the whole time.
right, the "steamier" jbls tend to be focused on toxic relationships, whereas healthy relationships are depicted…
I guess you're right, I'm trying to think of a steamy jbl that would be 100% green flag and I can't think of any title. I guess the audience have to make a choice, what's more important to them - sexy vibes or healthy relationships xd
All the comments calling it boring are causing me physical pain. And comparing it to My Personal Weatherman, what? Just because the main characters' dynamics were somewhat similar (as in the involuntary cohabitation of former friends, not the toxic relationship)? I disliked MPW so much because of how unhealthy the main relationship was, reading how it was supposedly better than Perfect Propose makes me sad.
PP was a great example of a well-written story with characters who weren't just cliches that made you think you would instantly hate the person if you ever met them in real life. I guess some people didn't like that a big part of the main focus was also on the personal story of Hiro and his struggle with work and growth into self-acceptance? Not enough steamy action? I honestly don't know. But I was so invested in the plot, which made sense and (for such a short story) was surprisingly coherent. And Hiro and Kai's progression felt very organic and believable, I was totally sold on it.
In conclusion - try it for yourself, don't believe the negative comments.
Could someone tell me if the webtoon is any less confusing at the end? Don't get ne wrong, I adored the series, but it got slightly chaotic in the last two eps and I'm hoping maybe the webtoon would explain some things in more detail?
But anyway, I was not expecting this series to be so lovely, I honestly cried at times, it really got to me. I was not expecting much at first, and when I saw that it's a game theme once again (seems to be a thing in last year's KBLs), I was even less impressed. Don't know why, bot Semantic Error and Our Dating Sim were gorgeous, but I guess I didn't think another game series could bring anything new to the table? Boy, was I wrong xd
I mean, ODS had the player element pushed to the end credits, it was an adorable addition, but didn't influence much. This, on the other hand, was all about the game, all about the decisions and missions, and it kept me engaged for the whole series. I was hoping to have a bit more of a clear resolution at the end, and some sort of arc built around the real life vs. game choice that Tae Myungha would have to make. That got resolved a bit differently, but it was still quite good, and not too cliche.
But yeah, for some reason it punched me right in the feels, I will definitely be coming back to this story <3
It had so much potential which got ruined in the last few episodes. Starting with ep. 13, what happened with Moeun…
On a different note, I find the discussion about JWS' desirability due to his "senile" age of 50 quite hilarious. You might argue that their age difference was too big to be believable, but calling him ugly because he's not 20 or 30? Honestly, some people should get a grip xd
It had so much potential which got ruined in the last few episodes. Starting with ep. 13, what happened with Moeun that she suddenly decided communication and talking through her issues was not the thing to do? It was so annoying, seeing her shut down instead of having Jinwoo explain his past relationship and overall situation. It was completely unfair of her, as if she suddenly decided he was not worth the hassle anymore, like some sort of switch got turned off. Now I want to understand you, aaaand now I don't want to understand you. The breakup was ridiculous as well (stupid decision on his part and her agreeing to it instead of, well, COMMUNICATING), and the wallowing in self-pity before and after was just such a forced way to cause a drama for their relationship :/ Ugh. It felt like totally different characters got introduced in ep. 13, their behaviour had no sense to me whatsoever. Also, Moeun's switching from being eager to learn sign language to basically having entire monologues in Jiwoo's direction (not even gonna call it conversations) without even trying to sign to him was just plain rude. Her distancing was not just emotional, it was also physical in how she stopped making the effort to make it easier for him to understand her.
That's a very interesting take on the trope, I'm just curious if you also consider uke/seme, top/bottom, or any…
As I apparently got blocked by that user (lol), let me just end with this:
They seem to be more than happy to decide on behalf of the entire community that something doesn't belong there just because you personally find it offensive and disgusting. And no, not only women can get pregnant. Trans men and non-binary folk are just as capable of carrying a child, if we're being specific. Not saying this has anything to do with the omegaverse, but insisting that only women can get pregnant and therefore any pregnant character is in fact a masked woman is not a logical conclusion from my perspective.
Their insistence on defining relationships as "gay" or "straight" purely on the basis of physiology is not a reasoning I'm willing to accept and I bet I'm not the only one thinking that.
As to the gay relationships mirroring straight ones - I didn't mean the sexual preference of being the giver or the receiver. When you look at homosexual relationships thoughout history, it was not uncommon for both gay men and women to assume the male and female roles in relationships as a reflection of the only acceptable framework for relationships as seen and approved by the society. You'd have same-sex couples refer to themselves as husbands and wives, you'd have gay men refer to themselves as women, etc. That's the mirroring I meant.
As to throwing the trope over to one side or the other - it was not my intention, omegaverse can be straight just as it can be queer. It might belong in the trash, but that's a personal opinion, and the trash as I see it should be placed for both sides to access, should they wish to use it.
Personally, I hated Amanes voice. Generally, I feel like the actor of Amane could've done a better job (he was…
Honestly not a problem, I appreciate you were willing to give me your side of it! I'd like to think we're capable of accepting that people can have different opinions and that it's not a personal attack when they do :)
"Boys Love: Omegaverse""omegaverse/mpreg" isn't bl or gay. it's "straight" with extra steps. it takes "who's the…
That's a very interesting take on the trope, I'm just curious if you also consider uke/seme, top/bottom, or any other version of the masculine/feminine trope to be straight as well? I bet the list contains more examples of that, yet your focus is just on that one title, to the point where you'd want it removed.
Don't get me wrong, what you're writing is mostly valid, but going by that definition (maybe minus the mpreg) there's quite a lot of queer content you'd have to disqualify. The history of gay relationships mirroring straight relationships is pretty much as old as time. As much as it might be the remnant of past misconceptions about the gender divide and social norms, it's also a fact of life.
Also, I don't see the author claiming anywhere that the list contains "worthy" or "certified gay" titles, or even that they made any sort of selection when it comes to the positions. It tries to be a complete list of the genre, which would obviously include potentally disputable or controversial titles. You might not consider the omegaverse trope to be truly gay, but some other people might. I bet if you asked some straight people, they'd be horrified with the idea of mpreg, so don't be too eager to throw it over the line onto their side ;)

I guess I can imagine where you'd see that being too much. I didn't mind it most of the time, maybe because I've seen worse (who hasn't, lol) and because the earnest moments were good enough to sell me on his acting. But I understand you might've had a different experience, we can agree to disagree on this :)
I was so worried after the beginning of episode one that it would become dark at some point, I'm glad I was wrong! It was pure and wholesome and yes, very good communication between the characters! Not often does this happen in dramas, it's like people don't know how to build a story without relying on it as a motor to push the plot forward.
This has been the greenest of flags, I was so happy to see a relationship that was not toxic and unhealthy in any way (sorry MPW and MBM, I'm looking at you), it's like a breath of fresh air.
Also, the main theme was really catchy, not sure what the song was but I really enjoyed it :)

Was it not the point, tho? He was faking most of the time to hide his feelings and keep himself from getting hurt. I understand you might not like the actor or the character, but the way he was portrayed was deliberate (at least that's how I see it).
this was so ass but the meta commentary about using homosexuality as a concept coming from onlyoneof members of…
omg yes! and they didn't even do it properly, just sandwiched the issue in one sentence between some other shit, it was so badly done they shouldn't have bothered at all. like "oh, maybe this is bad and not entirely moral but what can we do about it, I gues nothing, let's continue"
Ugh, this is so frustrating, I really wish I could like this story better.
