Ikr, it's like you can have an office romance or you can have your cat and dog from childhoor becoming human, there's no middle ground xd But even the weird ones are most often adorable, while with the Thai ones I'm usually just like "wtf have I just watched" xd

I would say it depends? I don't have that much experience with Thai bls, but from what I've seen so far it seems that way. They go with the weirdest random twists, almost like there was a list and they had to select something without knowing what it would be and how to connect it to the story xd. It's slightly better with Japanese and Korean dramas, but those are much shorter so the stories don't have enough time to be that well developed. But they're slightly less random, or at least some of them 😉

Also, could someone explain why would running away to get your degree make any sense at all? Like, what other purpose did it serve other than the mandatory breakup before final reconciliation? Couldn't he study hard and train hard to warn his "better status" while being together? No. Sense. Whatsoever.
I mean... The story wasn't good. The main driving plot point of "us vs the world" had literally no sense, the whole issue was not that people didn't want them to be together (other than the mother), it was that they didn't want them to make out at work - which, honestly, can you blame them? It really is quite inappropriate when you think about it, the boss and an intern becoming romantically involved. And the internship was for three months, they would've been fine waiting this long. The secondary drama of Cher's first girlfriend field kind of annoying, disrespectful even. It was a very serious and dark story that got shoved into a corner and the resolution felt very underwhelming. She deserved better. BUT. The chemistry. Cher and Gun were adorable together, once you got over the fact that their relationship as a superior and subordinate is a major no-no. When you forget about it, they were both the greenest of flags. I usually don't like Thai bls because they tend to be more violent in depiction of relationships, dub-con even, which does not float my boat at all, but this thing was an informed consent fest, and they were so gentle with eachother ❤️ In conclusion, don't expect plot, and you won't be disappointed xd
It was very... meh? Like, there's nothing solid to say about it, the online clips were the best part and there was nothing of value between them, it seems. I really wanted to like it, but it was very unremarkable.
very. if that's a positive thing for you and you're in for the ride, then prepare for an emotional rollercoaster.…
Thank you ❤️ I'm ok with getting sad once in a while, as long as it's for a good cause and it doesn't happen too often. It's purifying, but only when it happens in the right moment. It's a very unique experience, this one, that's for sure. But it keeps me watching!
They have the first 3 episodes out and I think they are subbing the rest in their own time.https://donsubbers.wordpress.com/category/fansubs/dramas/50kg-no-cinderella/
I saw that, but I'm too afraid to start and get stuck if the translation gets dropped 😔

I finished it today and I have to agree with some of the previous comments, the ending did not make sense at all. Like, don't get me wrong, Shin Woo was breaking my heart from the beginning and I was rooting for him, but the way they got together just doesn't add up.
I ~hate~ love triangles. if I ever end up in hell, it will be endless love triangles on repeat, with all parties unable to communicate properly. It's physically painful for me to watch, I usually avoid it, but I've seen this series mentioned so many times I decided to break my own rules just once. It's still painful and unpleasant, but for some reason I can't stop watching? I don't understand myself. The level of emotional constipation is high in this one, let me just say that.
I have to say, for a mystery thriller it was pretty un-thrilling when it comes to the main story. I really wanted to care about the resolution, but with each episode it was more difficult. I'm not sure what the reason was, maybe they tried too hard to complicate the story, or maybe too many people were involved and I couldn't follow their threads and motivations properly? Dunno, but it wasn't a good story for me.
Now the Shiro x Ichiro relationship, that's a different story. I mean, you could spend days arguing about the bl/bromance cateogories and which direction should've been taken here, but I'm not gonna get into that, it's an endless pit of opinionated guesses and assumptions, let's not go there. But what I do want to say is that whatever the label for their relationship (and yes, I do believe it was romance, but I'm not gonna fight you if you think otherwise), their dynamic on screen made this show interesting. I might be biased when it comes to gay subtext, as I very well remember the days when it was all that could be shown on the screen and it had to be enough, maybe that's why I don't get so angry about it. Call it nostalgia, whatever. But the actors managed to do a pretty good job developing this relationship without being able to openly romance one another. It's so much more difficult to portray this kind of emotion with subtext and metaphors, in my opinion. Too bad they didn't have a better plot to go with all their effort.
I would also like to acknowledge that we got not one, but two awesome female characters in the series. I'm so tired of bls only focusing on women when they're an obstacle to the main relationship, or having this one special snowflake girl in the entire cast of dudes. I'm so here for multiple female characters with their own independent stories and multidimensional personalities ❤️
It's a very common trope in other genres as well.https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RomanceInducingSmudge
It's like with the hair drying, which I don't think we got here, but a towel/hairdryer scene seems to be mandatory in like 99% of Korean/Japanese romance, regardless of gender. I understand the connotation with the importance of head touching, but it cracks me up every time.
I still have to wonder how new directors with new actors managed to produce a long series when no one else doing…
I was gonna say that you must be mistaken, surely there are more KBLs with longer eps, but then I double checked and other than "Cherry Blossoms After Winter" they really all are 15 minutes or less (although in some cases that's still enough to build a proper story). Personally, I felt like some of the framing choices were debatable, but other than that it was a very good series.
Yeah, I feel like that's unlikely, but I mean, I guess stranger things have happened. XD
I honestly can't imagine they will see the light of day, but a girl can dream (also, the entire ABO trope can be done very well or very poorly, so this could go either way).
I'm only done with eps 1 and 2 so far, and I'm very conflicted about the way the Afterlife handles their business. I'm pretty sure angry shouting at people to stop them from killing themselves is not the answer.
