My very limited understanding of Chinese allows me to understand that ML was asked/assigned to another case and…
Thanks you so much! So the ML was an informant you think? Or he becomes one till the end? I didn't understand her cousin will live. I'm happy to hear that!!
At the end of the drama, the entire drug network is dismantled (including that of the adoptive father of ML). The FL cousin is seriously injured in hospital (I don't think he is going to make it, given the severity of his injuries). The FL is reinstated in the police and takes in Coco, the daughter of the ML. As for the ML, he leaves I don't know where to do I don't know what. I didn't understand if he goes to infiltrate another network and becomes an informant or if he was already an informant before the story begins and continues his work. He leaves a farewell video to FL but unfortunately I didn't understand what he was saying.
The ending is happy and bittersweet at the same time. It is impossible to emerge physically or emotionally unscathed from such a story. But given the subject of the drama, the ending is happier than I expected.

If a generous soul, understanding Chinese, can tell me what the ML says at the end of the drama (episode 24), I would erect a statue for this person x)
I finally just saw episode 18 subtitled and shed tears when the ML tells his story.
Watching his mother die in front of him and being kidnapped / adopted by her murderer is horrible. The drama does a good job of showing us the tragedy of the poor who are exploited by the drug cartel.
I just saw the subbed episode. In fact, he says that his friend (the informant he allegedly killed in Episode 3) gave him a mission before his death: delivered Fang Lin(the scientist) to the police. He was calling the FL's captain when he got the call and was forced to change his plans to save her.
Thank you very much for your detailed opinion! x) It is the most credible theory I heard and which corresponds in part to what I imagined too.
I just saw the clip of the drama as well as a video introducing the character and it fits with what you say. We see the death scene of Sun Dapeng, which confirms that Xianhe is not responsible and that the informant has given him a mission. In addition, we see scenes from the last episodes which seem to indicate that either he becomes an informant for the police or he disappears.
Either way, I find it more believable and interesting that he's a new convert rather than another undercover cop like the FL. Just the fact that he has his daughter with him proves that he cannot be on a mission but rather that he is entangled in this dangerous world.
The drama portrays quite realistically how common people can be thrown to this life (as illustrated by FL's roommate). And it's interesting to humanize those who are not definitely corrupted by this environment.
Sometimes I have the impression the ML is more than he seems and can be an informant. While sometimes I really…
I watched fast forward to episode 20 but didn't understand much because it wasn't subbed (which is why I'm only mentioning the first 14 episodes). So don't hesitate to tell me if we learn a little more things, that doesn't bother me ^_^
I would like to know the thoughts of each one towards ML and his future. I would post my impressions until episode…
Sometimes I have the impression the ML is more than he seems and can be an informant. While sometimes I really think he is an adopted son of a drug' lord with no ulterior motive. The fact that he keeps his daughter close to him is one of the reasons that makes me think he is not undercover or whatever because it is risky to drag his daughter into this life if he has an alternative. But at the same time, he sometimes seems to have secrets and a conscience. Is he a victim of society and his adoptive family, having no alternative but this life? Is he redeeming himself and trying to take over from the informant he allegedly killed? I do not know and I admit that I would like to understand him a little more.
spoiler for 3 above: - when female lead was shot by lei jie, it was actually sml in the script, but censorship…
Thank you very much for the information ! It makes so much more sense to learn this about FL's past and about the gun shot. I thought it was weird that she got shot by Lei Jie. I was afraid that the end was rushed but your words reassure me.
Let's sum up: A man (the female lead's biological father and step-father of the ML) married against his will a woman (the hero's mother) but left her alone on their wedding night to return to see the woman he loved and conceive the FL. The rejected woman thus spent the night with another man out of spite, conceiving the ML whom she will make pass for the legitimate son of her husband. The father, unable to communicate, will himself create a good part of the story's problems by bringing home, right after the death of his wife, his former lover without warning his son, causing misunderstandings. The son will accelerate the death of the mother of the Fl by his mean and violent attitude. Then, after years of misunderstandings and hatred, he will eventually calm down and be with the FL. However, when he finds out the truth about his mother's wedding night, he decides to do this to the woman he loves. So to avenge his mother, he creates another victim like his mother. The twisted logic of this man is beyond me. He therefore marries FL but abandons her on their wedding night to start a relationship with another woman whom he will bring home to live while demanding from FL that she not divorce and still do her "marital duty". And the father tries to push his daughter into the arms of her abuser several times.
Excuse me but where is the romance in there? I see a spoiled rotten kid, unable to discern right from wrong, reproducing the same circle of abuse he denounces. I see a husband insulting, cheating, mistreating, physically and emotionally abusing his wife. He would be my son, I would have denied him and taken his wife away from him forever.
Let's stop making this kind of toxic, disgusting, demeaning story with the woman who is mistreated in any way but is still the one who has to make efforts and compromises in the relationship.
I watched 14 episodes with subtitles and from 15 to 19 unsubtitled. I wonder if the remaining 5 episodes will…
Also, there are plenty of scenes from the trailer that haven't been shown yet, I hope they haven't been deleted but will be for the end. I also would have liked to see the FL live for a while undercover in the ML group but I don't know if it will be possible in such a short time. This drama deserves to have more episodes.
Did you understand if the ML was a new informant or if he works undercover for a while? It is the thing I can't guess.
