Personally, seeing the wedding of the main couple is not what I expect the most. Many stories end with leads as a couple but before they get married. The important thing is to know that they are together.
However, I've seen people say it's an open ending for the couple and I don't understand. If they are a couple and together at the end, how is that an open ending?

It's literally one of the things that makes this drama so great. I was sick of seeing sweet, cute SFL who was friend with the FL go completely crazy and evil for love. Or obsessive, possessive, manipulative's behaviour from second leads.
The characters are all "human". Even the bad guys have nuance and we don't see them enough to be angry.

I think Changge started to realize that she was attracted to A'Sun in episode 6, when she fell from the roof. She locks herself breathless, hesitant and blushing in her room right after that.

I think she started to want to have a special and unique relationship with him in episode 18, when she asks, sounding a little jealous, if he gave Mu Jin some sheep as well.
From there, she refrained her feelings, slowing down A'Sun's ardor several times: when he takes her to see the fireflies and she tells him that there is no point in coming back, when he offers her a stone and she distances herself and so on.
Unlike A'Sun, she had no goal, no home and was very young. So it was more difficult for her to understand her feelings and also to accept them.

In episode 31, we know that she loves him and that she is aware of it because she lets him be tactile with her without restraint. She just hasn't made up her mind to be with him yet.

But knowing when she fell in love, I think we can't. There isn't a specific time. She fell in love gradually, over their adventures, friendship and argues. She started out seeing him as a friend who she became to be attracted to. Later, she believed everything they had been through was a lie and she hated him. Then she found out all he had done for her and they became friends again. From there the affection and feelings grew.
She was always careful with him and her attraction to him at first because she knew he had secrets. A'Sun falls in love with Changge once he knows who she is. The same goes for Changge. She can only start developping feelings for him once she knows who he really is and whether their friendship was a lie or not.

Subsequently, his affection for her will make him even more eager to spare the people of Tang (even if we know that he already did so before). By becoming friends with someone loyal to Tang, it will push him to protect an enemy, to realize that he has always followed orders without real beliefs unlike Changge.
And his mother's death is the last straw that allows him to introspect his life and choices. How he gave in to the pressure and became a blindly loyal soldier out of "ease" when he should have fought for his beliefs and those he loved.

The evolution of A'Sun is in his convictions and his attitude, not in his skills. He will show the young man that he is behind the mask of a cold general that he always gave, he will dare to show his weaknesses, his vulnerability, his inexperience in love, he will rub shoulders with people from Tang in his search for Changge, be faced with the consequences of the wars he has waged (with Yuan and Xu Feng) and create a strong friendship with a great general of Tang who will help him forge values ​​he already had.

And the characters are all well written that we don't have visceral hatred like in other dramas where the supporting roles are evil or others.

Personally, I like the 2 romances. They are different and well written. But I find it a shame that people try to say one romance is better than the other or criticize the main couple for the age gap while we have all our preferences and there's a lot a romance with age gap in dramaland (except it's always the man the oldest).

It makes a lot more sense that the whole division is joining Mobei than just Ashile Sun.

The 2 couples are 7/8 years gap. The only difference is that in the main couple it is the girl who is the oldest.
