so the FLs' fathers was wrongly accused of causing MLs' parents to die and there was a nasty breakup scene that followed. They reconciled soon after and the truth was revealed.
its quite a toxic romance like him choking her, FL feeling guilty that ML's sis died because of her and kinda manipulated into pretending to be her by the ML.. gurlll it was not your fault you got kidnapped and she died. but then FL became clingy and fell in love with the ML that she willingly does all these pretending despite not knowing what is his motives. all in the name of helping Zhang Xin Yan's family to return the favour of her saving her life.
FL is very forward, and went to stop ML's engagement with the 2FL herself, confessing her love to him first. that's quite unique in Cdrama that a girl is this forward so this I like :D the FL takes the initiative basically, not caring about her 'lower status' in society.
had to shut down my brain and find some sort of reasoning for all the plot holes but the hardest was getting past the fact that FL has the same face as his sister and he is in a r/s with her, ML did not know his sister's face when she grew up, as he only last saw her when she was a kid and he only heard her voice on the phone (nope he definitely did not see her photo anywhere before he contacted her via phone lol), so no issue with loving someone romantically with the same face as his sister. the funniest part was when he held the photo of his dead sister at the crime scene...he might be thinking "there goes my r/s with my fake fiancee..." and since that day he did not even bother to contact her after she really broke up with him during the rain scene. luckily she fell into the water, that gave them a chance to reunite again.

from the start the FL and SML r/s is more of a brother sister kind and FL and ML has been building on their r/s since ep1, it got stronger each episode so the closeness to SML is like some sort of a sibling bond

hey the ML is Xuan Lin, he and FL first meet on the ship at the first ep. Plenty of romance specially the first 20 or so episodes when they are getting to know each other. then after that it is more of the political stuff but there is still romance. definitely no love triangles although there's the typical 2ML who is her childhood friend and 2FL that likes the 2ML. and YES HAPPY ENDING! :)
the men game is obviously rigged towards one particular contestant, for the 3 way pulling 2 of them were pulling horizontally while one was more perpendicular so obviously that guy won.
