You need to stop making me laugh. No other wuxia sources would consider Song of Glory a WUXIA genre. Come back to me you when have credible sources that clearly states that THIS DRAMA is wuxia. Again, it doesn't matter if there's flying daggers, jumping over buildings, etc. I've seen plenty of historical dramas that don't even categorize as wuxia even if they include your usual inhumane martial arts. This drama is considered historical and political. Its focuses on politics from the get go, not martial arts let alone other wuxia elements. You're clearly missing the point! Also stop discriminating westerners, and judging people without knowing who they are.

Just because it has great martial art does not make its a wuxia drama. You are the one who is misleading the audience! It doesn't even have HALF of what majority wuxia dramas have. Joy of Life is similar to Song of Glory, plus it has more fictional elements but its not even wuxia because its not focused on the elements of wuxia. Just because the main character has inhumane martial arts does not make it wuxia. There's a whole world to it than just great martial arts from the beginning. Whether the main character started with 0 martial arts skills or 100, it all depends on the story as well as characteristics of the drama around them. You don't even see any other martial sects, in fact there's none. Furthermore, you don't see Lige cultivating at all, nor training. She's not even traveling like your typical wuxia character does, cause we don't see that. And if we don't see the journey of her cultivation, training, or any martial sects its not wuxia. "Themes of chivalry, tragedy, revenge & romance are common." its also common in historical and political dramas fyi! Like I said, just because she has great martial arts does not make this drama a 'wuxia' genre. She was an assassin from the get-go. I can tell the difference between xianxia and wuxia thank you very much. I suggest watching more wuxia dramas before you say someone is wrong. May I suggest the Proud Twins, Chinese Paladin series, the Condor Heroes series? Monster Killer series? The Magic Blade? Legend of Qin! Evernight season 1! All of these are wuxia dramas with actual wuxia elements unlike Song of Glory!

I didn't watch The Four so I can't say anything on it. I just know from experience that wuxia is based around a martial hero who travels the world to fight against evil. They learn to become the best martial hero of their world. You get to see their skills from 0 to 100. Yes, it involves tragedies, training and internal cultivation but Song of Glory is not even focused on training nor cultivation. Tragedies is always in every drama especially in historical dramas. We just know she came from assassination group and is out to get the Emperor. Do we see her training? No. Do we see her cultivating? No. All we see is her with great martial abilities; wuxia is based on a journey around the martial heroes. They travel Jianghu to learn more martial arts, gain friends and fight against evil. Further more, wuxia is also based around martial sects, all we see is a assassination group - not martial sect and we don't see any others either. Most wuxia dramas usually have many different sects that come together to compete, and all the other wuxia elements involved. If you want another drama example, Joy of Life - it also have great martial arts but it also not even categorized as wuxia because it doesn't have the elements that adds up to it being wuxia. Song of Glory is the same with Joy of Life.

This is not wuxia, its just historical & political genre. Just because it has martial arts doesn't make it a wuxia genre. It lacks the elements of what is considered wuxia.

I honestly prefer the original Taiwanese dramas than the remakes no matter how much money China put into their productions. I grew up watching Taiwanese dramas so they will
always hold a special place in my heart. I'm currently watching Meteor Garden 2018, 2 years after it aired because I couldn't let go of 2001 version. haha I will say that 2018 version doesn't give me much of an impact than 2001. Probably cause I am not attracted to these flowery boys at all, and Shen Yue's acting is not the best compare to Barbie's. :/ Shen Yue always seem like she's lost or confused, like she doesn't have a mind of her own which kills the vibe in my opinion. Some of the scenes, if you compare it to the original drama, did not seem realistic. Overall, i am still watching it because it does have its differences which makes me want to keep watching it.

I did not watch the remake of either the Korean nor Chinese version of Fated to Love You. However, I did watch clips of the most heartbreaking scene and I'm just going to say the Taiwnanese version was more realistic and heartbreaking in my opinion. My heart still breaks for Chen Qiao En, she has amazing acting skills in FTLY Taiwanese version. T.T I recently rewatched the Taiwanese version it was really good. But I also notice how annoying Ethan's character was when he was trying to win over Xinyi's heart. :/

I'm surprised they're remaking Lavender, in this generation, the ending will not be accepted at all because everyone will be mad and think "They should've made the ending different, etc." Lavender is a heartbreaking story in its own right. A girl with congenital heart disease waiting for the love of her life and fighting for her life to live. :( I wonder who's going to play the role of Leo/Qing Chuan. Ambrose Hsu was the singer behind the OSTs of Lavender and I still enjoy them to this day. Nolstagia!!

My Heaven's Wedding Gown, I agree this drama didn't have much of an impact on me either. So I wonder how they're going to remake it aside from obvious $$$ into the production. hm Although it did introduced me to Cyndi Wang and her music hehe :3

If that's your point then you might've replied to the wrong person cause I have no problem with dramas having romance or not. LOL

I know wuxia has romance here and there but some doesn't. My point was wuxia is not about romance. Its about the MC's journey to being the martial hero, the best martial artist, the best cultivator, fight for his friends/family, etc. Therefore, not seeing romance in wuxia genres shouldn't be a surprise to a "veteran" drama watcher. xD Ten miles and Ashes are xianxa genre hence the romance and Joy of Life is not considered to be wuxia either (although I enjoyed that drama greatly.) Other than that, I just wish people would stop feeling disappointed if there's no romance in dramas esp something like wuxia.

I don't need to check my sources when I clearly stated wuxia genres' main point is not about romance. I watched plenty of wuxia dramas my entire life and it does not revolve around romance. If you don't understand what I'm saying then you don't understand wuxia genres either. Plus you probably got them confused with xianxia, which usually have romance as the main focus but wuxia? No, its not the main focus.

The problem with his botox face is when he tried to act murderous or angry, it just comes out like a puppy eye expression imo. To put it simply, he doesn't know how to use his facial muscles at all. He acted similarly in A Love So Beautiful and in Go Go Squid, there's no difference in personalities between the three characters I watched him acted in. At this point he's just an eye candy actor. Not my cup of tea but I'm still watching Handsome Siblings cause I loved this series as a kid. The actor who plays Xiao Yu is acting well enough for me to continue watching. >.<

I honestly feel like he can't really act :/ The previous adaption with Nicholas Tse as Hua Wuque didn't have a botox face, he actually acted very charismatically and had expressions compare to Hu Yi Tian.

I grew up with the previous 2005 adaption with Dicky Cheung as Xiao Yuer and Nicholas Tse as Hua Wuque. You can imagine I was quite excited for this adaption because this series was amazing. I recommended my friends to watch this new adaption, cause not everyone would want to watch old quality drama from 2005, and I must say its definitely a good adaption. HOWEVER, I think they should have chosen a better actor for Hua Wu Que.I am not fond of Hu Yi TIan's acting which is similar to Yang Yang's acting. Basically just stone cold, no expression or just robotic and not natural acting for me. Nicholas Tse was charistmatic for his role, yes Hua Wu Que is expressionless, but Nicholas Tse made it seem like it was HIS character - he WAS the character. He was charismatic, he had his smirks, subtle but visible expressions. There was nothing about his acting or expressions that made it seem awkward for the audience. Whereas Hu Yi Tian seems like he can't even move a single facial muscle, basically it seemed like he had botox. He acted exactly the same in the ALSB, no difference, nothing new nor extraordinary. I'm very disappointed in his acting. Before any of his fans scream at me, yes I tried his other dramas too and its the same. On the other hand, Chen Zhe Yuan who plays Xiao Yu Er is doing great in his role. His acting is quite natural, nothing to awkward for me' he embraces the tricky, jokester character really well. :]

In previous adaptions, he was healed albeit his memory was a bit out of whack.

Just finished the series, hoping for the second season soon! Although there's no news of it but please don't let us wait too long! Keep all the casts pleaseee! >.< My favorite characters so far are Tanya, Yangcha and Xabara. Eunseom is a given hahah while Saya was getting on my nerves. :( I hope Yangcha changes, I can see it in his eyes that he's slowly changing for Tanya~ :3

Yes, exactly what I was thinking! Everytime Dylan is on screen, I would imagine Arthur to act differently and more of angry or arrogant face than someone that just smirks and smiles. Arthur played it nicely, he felt very intimidating while Dylan just feels like a younger kid.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. This season cannot live up to season 1. I cannot feel the chemistry between Sang Sang and Dylan's Ning Que at all. It feels very awkward and difficult to watch. China needs to step up their game and make contracts for actors to stay together for multiple seasons if they're planning to do so.
