tangential topic, but can someone recommend me another romcom that’s cute and lighthearted? i’m new to bls, don’t want anything heavy or serious, (i prefer non-school stories), thank u in advance :)
i was expecting a great deal bc the manga is famous but it’s a pretty typical crime jdrama where the quirky genius mc solves the whole story with like 2 clues. won’t complain tho, cuz i do like OP mcs.
unpopular opinion but i really didn’t like heroine (i really am not a fan of “incompetent but I try very hard” heroines) so that unfortunately lowered my enjoyment. could not care less about her little tsundere interest towards mc either. no offence if u like her, it’s just personal taste
This is now being subbed my massterchief. You can get the subs here: https://masssterchief.tumblr.com/tagged/JK%20kara%20Yarinaosu%20Silver%20Plan
i've been trying to watch this like forever but I just cant open the .ass file TT I downloaded like several video players including aegisub... is there something i'm missing???
one english title of a kdrama i didn’t like is true beauty! it’s originally called 여신강림 and this is rather difficult to translate into english concisely which is probably why they made the english version a completely different meaning.
여: female/woman 신: goddess/god 강림: arrival/descend/befall so essentially the title means arrival of a goddess
it kinda rubs me the wrong way that the english title is completely different because it gives off a completely different interpretation of the story to non-korean speakers. the main focus has always been the (pretty) FL and not actually about inner beauty like what one would think
It's funny fans of those actors that are obviously got popular bcz of their looks only always defend them like…
not defending anyone i have not even seen this show but this comment is funny…how does that make any sense? of course fans will defend their idol, what else do u think fans are for? lmaoo
as someone who is picky af and wholeheartedly in love with the novel, i have to say zlh is the perfect cast for hc and i really really hope to see him in this role T.T
im waiting patiently!! (but also hurry up pls i cant)
while i do agree she's an interestingly complex character, i beg to differ about the point about her being friends…
my main point is about her not-so-genuine friendship with youngro. she has always been taking advantage of her, the relationship btw them was never balanced as a proper friendship should be. since u didn’t actually refute my points, i’m assuming u see this too. (and how could youngro’s so called “betrayal” be on the same level as what boon-ok was about to do? she could really have gotten her jailed, tortured etc. )
i’m not stopping anyone from sympathising with her, i’m sure she has potential to be better. anyway, it’s not like i’m forcing u to change ur opinions, just giving my 2 cents on their friendship. cheers xx
I know Boon Ok is hated here, because she is a thorn in the Main Couples side. But I wanted to write a little…
while i do agree she's an interestingly complex character, i beg to differ about the point about her being friends with youngro. i don't believe she was truly a friend towards her, boon-ok simply took advantage of youngro's kindness. from the beginning, she's been using the classic tactic of 'if u really like me, u should do this for me' (sounds like an unhealthy relationship to me). she keeps so many secrets from her/hides her true self even though she demands that youngro hides absolutely nothing from her. she acted as though she was the victim when sooho went on a date with youngro, even guilt tripping her because she knows youngro would not retaliate, even though it wasn't the latter's fault.
also, she was never truly interested in sooho, she only had her eyes on his status and education, and where he could bring her.
and when youngro was no longer useful to her, she switched sides *at the drop of a hat* and tried to sell her off to the authorities or at least the dorm headmaster. not to mention she showed no remorse in having the old man get fired even though he was also in a state of poverty and trying to make ends meet
Just because female lead is some year older doesnt mean its nonna drama . Jang ki young doesnt look teenage too…
that’s probably because there aren’t that many shows where the ML is much older than FL (90%?? i doubt it, most mainstream shows have leads around the same age) and like i said, noona literally means older (woman), it doesn’t change whether u like it or not. why can’t the trope be called noona romances?
anyway i’m not gonna argue abt this it’s not a big deal lmao so you do you ^^ just don’t take ur frustration out on some innocent commentor maybe?

the female lead is older; that’s literally the definition of noona, so yeah it is a noona romance (unless they’re the same age in the drama idk). it doesn’t have a bad connotation so calm down
quite frustrating and some of the actions are questionable... like why didn't she scream in first part of the movie? why was she writing on her phone instead of typing? was the cctv in the police station not working?? and does the korean police do not have a silent report system?
regardless, both leads were great actors, esp jkj, the scene where she was begging was great
after the more recent photos i actually came to really like the casting for HC !! he looks great >< and i'm glad the book is getting licensed too! i think the online version is going to be removed (?) so if anyone wants the epub just lmk ;)
For example Moon ga young gained 5 million followers after doing her drama true beauty now this what you call…
thats most likely because true beauty targeted a younger audience (who are more likely to use instagram), while flower of evil didn't. same goes for park boyoung. moon gayoung is also a younger actress, and young people tend to like young actors/actresses more than veteran/older ones
