I'm sorry but to say there is no beauty cult in Japan is simply wrong. There absolutely IS a beauty standard. It's more diverse compared to some other Asian countries maybe but it's just a lie to say there isn't. (And being white is one of them. Eg It is ridiculously difficult to find any cream here without whitening in it because of that.) It's just that luckily Japanese shows tend to show reality more than over glossy reflections of the same. And there are people who fall outside the beauty ideal and are just regular people who for some reason or another aren't or can't look like a fucking white, beautiful prince.

Oh i did not know there was a novel as well and that that might have been the 'true source material' of this adaptation. I'd still stand my ground then though that the manga did a better & healthier way to portray their relationship than the actual source material ^^;;

I still can't get over how beautiful Apo is... I admit: Even if the show as awful (and it is not. it SO is not!) I still would watch it just to see his gorgeous face. But damn. This series really got me back into BL. Like... what a feast!!
