Man, When I watch this, I feel the same sentiment!

I don't think Soong Joong Ki is acting cute in Innocent man though haha...

Ok I love this debate. Ok here is my though.

"However, Innocent Man was very much about the romance and focused a lot on love. Whether it was Kang Ma Roo's innocent love that was crushed in the beginning, Seo Eun Gi's reluctant but hopeful love that was crushed by Kang Ma Roo, or Kang Ma Roo's supposedly sudden deep love for Seo Eun Gi toward the end, the drama was almost entirely about romance."

It focus on love, but as only a plot device to get their message accross. It's not about love story, It's about obsession, deception and self destructive. It's about three people wearing a mask on their own, to protect what they think the only one they have and truly wanted. But in the end, they don't realize what they longing all this time is finding their own happiness, without wearing a mask, without lying to themselves of what means to them. I think Eun Gi's amnesia is become the catalyst of Ma Ru and Jae Hee's redemption

Ma Ru never intend to make her life become a mess... He already dated a lot of woman, sell his body, and you know his previous woman never come after him feeling hurt, so he never fully aware of what he has done to Eun Gi. So he didn't expect Eun Gi to be that fragile. He was warning her alot of times about his intention towards her. His fault is He was underestimate Jae Hee's warning that Eun Gi is a fragile. Oh Eun Gi is really intend to hurt Jae Hee when she wrongly accused Maru, knowing fully well that man is someone Jae Hee's love dearly.

Why it's difference? The result is the same. You hurt someone. This subject is often get arise in drama or film, and it's always interesting how different our logical is. But for me, the result is the same. One example show who brought up this issue is The Lucifer aka The Devil.

The show is never underestimated Ma Ru's action and justified because of his past and the show manipulate us, oh that's okay, we forgive him because of his past. NO. From the start, the show has already point out He take the innitiative to go to jail for Jae Hee, so It's entirely because of his selfish act supposedly for the name of love, and to reach Jae Hee’s heart, which is a fail attempt. The show makes him suffer because of his own his own making. He already want to let it go.
But Eun Gi's action change it all. He take on revenge after Eun Gi wrongly accused him on behalf of Jae Hee's name, that he think Jae Hee once again intend to hurt him and his sister. He is already suffer enough, it’s like Jae Hee tear apart his wounds that’s already deep enough, just to survive in her own world. In his eyes, Jae Hee is a woman who make him choose her over his sister, and once again his sister suffer because of Jae Hee. His action is making sense because of that. In the end, He take the consequences for what he did to Eun Gi, too

Ok that's already long enough. This drama has alot of flaws. I actually want this drama to remain dark and complicated. But unfortunately, the scond half is not as interesting as the first half. what with Ma Ru all of sudden once again become a doormat, and Jae Hee set as the villain of the drama? and the show already far away from ambiguity. Well maybe it's because all that ambiguity is becoming more clear as the show reach climax. but it takes all the fun.

Well, Baek In Hoo is not an anti-heroes. . But he is also a flawed character. What he did to some people in the past is wrong. Unaware for what you did in the past doesn't make you the right to free from all the blame. He is also take responsibility for what he did towards Baek In Ha for moking her not talent enough.

If you watch Innocent man for the fairytale good romance, you shouldn't watch it LOL...

Maybe you don't like the innocent man Because of how dark the show feels? Like they are all unlikable. That's I agree with. But for psychological aspect, this drama has that intriguing aspect. Like they are all wearing a mask, so we didn't get what we get in particular scene at first. In other words, the show is not for casual watcher.

I agree though the show is not selling the romance really well and never intend it in the first place. But the execution of their psychological aspect is very intriguing.

Yess . I enjoy it alot. This drama has element to discuss it alot. I san't say he isn't manipulate her. He manipulate her, but not all his doing for approaching her are deliberate. The first step of his action actually almost all geniune. Their third meeting is not something he planned also (When Ma Ru went to Choco's mom on the countryside). He already warn her in the first place, too. She is just not getting his signal. And I don't think he is an angel, and all his seduction on her are wrong. His obsession revenge on Jae Hee is also you can't take it easy. There is a reason they called him an antiheroes. But he is not the only one who set the fire, Actually Eun Gi is the first one who make him start his revenge, without Eun Gi knowing. My point is, it take two tango.

Well,You can said, The female lead in Innocent man also take apart of her own life become a mess. too.. SHE IS NO ANGEL EITHER.

1. FIRST, Eun Gi is the one take an innocent man in jail, the one who already saved her life on a plane, wihout checking or even investigated it first,, just decide it based on shady explanation from her stepmom. The result is his sister, Choco, went to the hospital because of the trauma inthe past. because of Eung Ki action, His sister, Choco, is sick and get sent to the hospital, Not because of Jae Hee. Eun Gi is the one who wrongly accused Ma Ru and report it on behalf of Jae Hee’s name. She take it too easy. She is the one who create the fire between Ma Ru and Jae Hee. Such an innocent woman. Action justified. You should know the consequences of your own decision, sent an innocent man to jail just to won battle with your step mom is not innocent.

2. Ma Ru can't control someone else heart of how far they will fall for him . And his first impression on her is already bad based on rumour he got surrounding her (Look at his explanation on her in earlier episode 3). He has no heart and really look down on people who look bad on the outside. That’s the reason he can conned a girl he dated. Close his eyes and doing the dirty work to earn money for his sister hospital bill, Expecting their feeling won’t be last forever. So One major fault he make is underestimating Eun Gi’s feeling towards him and too obsess with his revenge.. He didn’t expected Eun Gi to fall to him that deep. Just like any woman he dated, she will left him eventually. All his kiss, seducing her, and helping her, are all on his plan. But That action is not the one which make Eun Gi to fall for him, She already has a crush on him the moment when he jumps on the cliff to reach her doll, his first sincerity. He fall for his sincerity, his seduction won’t work if Eun Gi doesn’t has great first impression on him previously.

3. Just like Maru’s stated, Eun Gi’s downfall is not all Ma Ru’s fault. She is also take responsibility on her own ill fate. Another fault Maru's make is he refuse her when the tragedy happened with harsh words. Again for her sake, because his life is already a mess. You can’t expect him to open up that easily after witnessing what Jae Hee did to him. Maru is not believing in Eun Gi too at this point. Justified. But The scar Ma Ru’s makes has already big, but won’t be as bad if there is no major incident when they broke up on the beach. Her father’s dad is not Ma Ru’s fault. She is reaching out to him when his father's death occured is her own decision, despite knowing his initial intention. She refuse all the call which relate to her father in the first place. Eun Gi's relationship with her father is already broken in the first place, which out of Maru’s control.

4. He is more than redeemed what with his doing for taking care on her, running a company when she is uncapable, very patient to face all her tantrum, and support her psychologically during her bad period, and eventually fall for her. and he is doing all this despite he needs surgery. How is not redeemed? What is he supposed to do then?

5. More than that, she is the one who tried to kill Maru with her car, She is the one who take the innitiative. that’s also take into account.

Not exactly the same plot, because it has different screenwriters... It's just between this and innocent man, it has the same director, you will see there is exact style from PD Kim Jin Won. In terms of intensity, this drama also bring alot of intensity throughout IMO.

But i like viki subbers better. Though. I'm patient enough to wait. In 2010 it's normal to wait 3 days or one week late to find subs. But the quality of subbers was outstanding.

My beautiful Bride. It's the same writers.. It's not as good as, cruel city, and cruel city has more memorable character... , but in terms of plot and story, it's very close.

The vibe is very lee kyung hee melodrama ealier days. sangdoo let's go to school anyone?

I hope second lead will add to the real narrative rather than used as love triangle or quadrapple setup.

I love Kim Jin Won PD-Nim. He makes drama like this worth watching and will do the drama justice. But please move the story forward. Enough already with the setup writernim..

I would like someone make this kind of article. So many show worth watching which doesn't get recognized.

@kdramasinpajamas Oh don't worry, I know what my criteria is. That's why we are smart and not always agree and eat up of what all their opinion are. We can honestly can guess if their opinion based on personal feel or opinion based on quality of the product because they already watch so many drama. If you think their opinion doesn't make sense and lack certain information we need, we can check it ourselves if what they are saying is ring to us. pretty much the first two episode we can guess the quality of the drama, from directing to acting. If you are someone who doesn't care about drama quality and wacth what you like and based on your feeling, then thats up to you, so you have a choice to avoid this kind of article, right?

Honestly, this kind of article is really useful to avoid ordinary drama which rank highly. At least they explain the reason why they don't like it and it kind useful. at least for me. It makes us avoid to waste our time starting a bad drama.
