Are they all really the exact same length though? Not sure if this might help but if the DVD version is 1 minute…
True, even 1 extra minute can add up. It seemed to me that they were the exact same length but I didn't check and compare all the episodes. I'm going to start a rewatch soon and will try the TV version this time, just to make sure :)
I am starting this now. Just one question if anyone can answer, please. Does this have a strong FL like TMOPB…
The female lead having swallowed an unfeeling pill at birth, the last thing she'll do is mope about romance so you're safe on that count ^^ Once the pill is out of the equation, she does think about love more but by that time she has matured and the circumstances (of her own making) are such that any moping that she could have indulged in is transformed into proactive thinking. I think she is a strong character in the sense that she's very loyal and will always stick to her guns. If you have wronged her or those she loves, she will come after you. If she makes mistakes, she'll own up to them and try to make up for them.
Does anyone know if there's really no difference between the 60-episode DVD version and the 63-episode TV version? I had always read that the TV version had 63 episodes to compensate for the fact they were a bit shorter. But I checked a few episodes of the TV version and the episodes seem to be the exact same length as the ones from the DVD version, clocking in at 44 or 45 minutes. What gives? Are there actually more scenes in the TV version then?
@missnymeria. Shoutout as I'm quoting you in my spoiler post above! (I'd love to be able to reply to you on Soompi…
Yes, I understood what you meant. I like your explanation and that is what some people were saying in spoilers before the episode aired with subs. So when I watched the scene I was expecting to see XF deliberately protecting JM with the feather.
But when I saw his behavior right before throwing the feather (he keeps it in his trembling hand quite a while) and right after, this is not the impression I got. This is what I meant by confusing.
The scene is open to interpretation imo. I wish it wasn't though since it's such an important moment.
I understand fully the different meanings and interpretations of the word "betrayal" and in this specific case, it doesn't really matter which one is used, I think.
I really think Xu Feng wasn't expecting to see the feather protecting Jin Mi, hence the "betrayed". Poor boy was trying to lie to himself but the heart always stays true.

Will need to rewatch to make up my mind. I'll use Viki's translation when it's completed this time. You can pick up on different little nuances that you missed the first time around. I love comparing translations. :)

I agree with you about the feather being described as being used only to protect before. Which is why it would be logical for the scene to play out as you said (it's so romantic ^^) What threw me in that cave scene though is that Xu Feng clearly says that the feather "betrayed" him ( as in it didn't do what he expected of it in that precise moment) and it doesn't seem to be for show just because Sui He is here. Also, if the feather had been meant to be used as a protective artefact in that scene, wouldn't Jin Mi pick up on it? She's benefited from its protection before so she knows how it works but here she clearly takes it as a weapon thrown at her. And she's so desperate to be forgiven that she would have latched onto the smallest sign it wasn't hopeless. Pretty confusing.

Thank you! Glad you liked my post :)
At first I wanted to believe the same as you regarding the Phoenix feather but when I watched the scene I felt that he wasn't trying to hide the feather. Sui He was right behind him and the feather was visible in his hand. It seemed to me that he wanted to lash out with it but his hand was trembling and he was struggling because either his feather (ie his innermost thoughts and heart) wouldn't let him attack Jin Mi and he was fighting it, or he was just nerving himself up to hurt her more severely.
I would prefer to go with your interpretation though. But it's not what I got from the scene. It will give me an excuse to rewatch it and see :)
Does anyone know where I can find high definition (at least 720p) RAWs without Chinese hardsub to download? I'm looking for the version that Viki & Dimsum are subbing, not the 63 eps TV release.
Okay rewatching with eng subs at ep14 just made me hate night’s guard so it was her ass that started the night…
I'm not so sure that RY would have given up JM without KL saying these things to him. He might have tried, at first. But interacting more with JM or seeing her with XF would have pushed him over the edge at some point.
Did anyone notice subtle/major changes from the novel? Like in the novel, XF didnt believe JM until when she died…
Personally, I like what they did with the drama. I find it much more meaningful that Xu Feng forgave Jin Mi before she died. As a viewer, I find it more satisfying and it conveys the idea of an undying love much better. I know I would have been very frustrated had Xu Feng been on a 100% hate/revenge mode right until she died and then been "Oops, my bad". This is what we got with Jin Mi when she was planning her revenge for her father and I found this part very weak and hard to believe. I'm glad they didn't go completely down this road again with Xu Feng.
Actually, Kissasian has the 63 episodes TV version so episode 50 is a bit misleading. The story is further ahead on 4udrama where they upload the dvd version. It's subbed up to episode 48 but episode 48 is actually further along in the story than episode 50 on Kissasian if that makes sense.
That's so funny! And also dispiriting in a way because it kind of confirms that we will have to suffer through…
Yeah the love pill thing is just a mess and the writer shot herself in the foot with it. It clearly doesn't prevent Jin Mi from feeling regular affection and it certainly does not erase all the memories she has of their times together, even if they're no longer colored in a romantic light after the pill is repaired.
Jin Mi has known Xu Feng for years and she knows better than anyone what kind of a person he is. She genuinely likes him as a person. Even believing that he had killed her father, I don't think she would have been able to bring herself to really stab him when it came down to it. She might have wanted to and she might even have tried to but she would either have stopped at the last second or she would have stabbed him in a non-lethal spot.
The only way I could buy and accept that she does stab him would be if he posed a threat to the survival of the whole world or to a great many people. Or if she was under a spell and not fully in control of herself.
But killing someone you've known and liked/loved for years just for personal revenge? No. Not the way it happened. Sorry not sorry, book/drama.
I think I'll just consider that the drama ended after Jin Mi and Xu Feng went back to the Heavenly Realm when their mortal trial ended. Xu Feng marrying Jin Mi posthumously and choosing to die with her was such a powerful and heartbreaking image. Let's leave it at that and forget the big mess that followed.
