Did anyone else notice how Yeon Jun got distracted and was looking at the poor watchman (more like watch boy)…
Well, he's a nobleman of his time and he can't think outside what he was taught. In Gone With the Wind, the character stays that way until the end. Here, I'm not so sure. There are hints he's starting to wise up to the way the nobility is so out of touch with the rest of the country. What is sure is that he'll stay with SFL and that she loves him wholeheartedly. He would never abandon her. They're a good 'lukewarm' couple and they understand each other. But he can't help wanting the FL too, even if he doesn't act on it. Men...
In Gone With the Wind, the heroine is hung up on the second male lead until almost the very end (and when she sees the light, it's too late) but here it looks like they're going a very different route since it's clear she's already starting to care way more about the male lead than the second male lead.

If they continue sticking to the Gone With the Wind storyline/relationships, he does like both. He desires FL but also loves SFL, more in a platonic way, and his character is such that since he has given his word to marry her, he will stick to it till the end, regardless of his romantic feelings for the FL. He's the honorable type but I find him a bit of a wet blanket.
It has a lot in common with Gone the Wind :) but one of the differences is that Gil Chae has never been married…
And I wonder if they're just using the original set up for the first episodes only or if they're going to continue following Gone with the wind. I have a hard time believing we will see a wedding between them + death of their child in a K-Drama. We'll see.
Exactly, Qing invasion for Secession war, same characters, up to now it's copied and pasted !
It's so copied and pasted that I'm surprised the tribute to the novel isn't mentioned anywhere, or at least that people are talking about it (but maybe I missed that since I didn't go through the whole thread).

Yes, I wasn't surprised that the wedding fell through considering the setting. And I do think Rhett was he third husband. Can't have that in a K-drama about Joseon
So, is this a Korean remake of Gone With the Wind then?
I don't see it mentioned anywhere but so far it follows the story pretty closely. With the FL and ML as Scarlett and Rhett and the SFL and SML as Melanie and Ashley.
I have a question please. That scene where the Empress questioned the injured HBY (fresh from being rescued from…
That episode is when things start to go off track. Lack of time to edit? Too many cuts?
The conversation with the 3rd Prince made no sense (the translation might be faulty I think).
And her saying she can live extremely well without LBY when next thing you know she spends the next five years as a shell of herself, isolated in the palace? Yeah, weird.
I will wait for the episodes to be released on Viki with a new translation to see if it makes more sense.
To me it made sense. I got the sense that she would rather die trying than to be abandoned or left behind again.…
I do understand that she (thought she) didn’t care if she died.
But she never would have been close to dying if the situation had been handled better and that rankles with me after 55 episodes of nearly flawless storytelling.
I feel that they could have cut a lot of things to make room fot better character development at the end.
As it is, it feels as if both Shaoshang and Buyi got a bit stupid and underwent a personality change in the bargain.
Still the best drama of 2022 for me but could have been the best drama ever and it’s just not because of the last 4 or 5 episodes.
Yeah I had the same sense, but when he was on the horse riding back to her he did look pretty panicked. I think…
Most probably it was Shaoshang’s brother who went to get the family. But yes, editing was rough.
I don’t understand why they fast tracked the episodes. They could have benefited from more time to edit correctly. Well, I guess they made plenty of money from it.
Did anyone else think that the « I trust Shaoshang » thing in the last episode was out of character for LBY?
From the way things were going, Shaoshang would have been a charred corpse by the time he got to the village if her family had not shown up..
Saving the world is all fine and good but he would only have had his tears and grief for company.
She was in a much more dangerous situation than he was and half his men could have wraped things up for him. He stayed chatting up the villain for way too long.
I understand the intentions of the scriptwriters. They wanted us to see that he trusts her fully now, when he didn’t before.
But this was sheer idiocy. Badly executed. There were other ways to show us his growth.
I feel sad that the last few episodes kind of went off the rails ( 2 attempts on Shaoshang ´s life in so shory a time? the exact same way too, with a shady lady luring her away and uncomprehendingly absolutely no one going with her?).
I’m up to episode 51 ( on kisskh). Is it me or the subs on the express episodes are kind of iffy? The quality seemed off. IE: the 2 conversions between Shaoshang and the Third Prince were very confusing. It felt like I was missing some things.
I think they won't. Because the Tencent platform already has 4K/blue ray. They can make more profit if ppl choose…
But they won’t really get additional money since once you have the subscription you can watch it as many times as you want and it will eventually be available for free for everyone after it finishes airing.
Digital 4k is not as good as a physical disc and I also don’t want to depend on an online platform.
Some scenes did feel suddenly cut or like they left out so much. Even in episode 21 they had a few wires still…
Yes. I think it’s clear some cuts were made. Which leads me to think the 2nd part will indeed be under 20 episodes as rumored and they had to severely edit the drama.
Yes, literal whiplash from how quickly they're zipping between scenes/scenarios.! :(((( So sad as I for one can…
Exactly. Some scenes are dragged out for so long for no reasons and then some other much needed ones to flesh out the plot are severely edited or removed entirely.
Does anyone else feel like the drama is choppy, as if many scenes ended up on the cutting room floor? I mean, it's still possible to connect the pieces together but it feels as if many scenes are missing. And we go from places to places so quickly that it's very hard to feel a deep connection to the characters except for the main and second leads. The opera singer and prince storyline has 0 impact on me because we saw them for a few minutes only etc... Could it be because the drama has indeed been cut from 80 episodes to 50-ish?
I skip every scene with Yumo in it I don’t feel interested in is character at all. This is a first me hahaha.…
I don't skip but I understand where you're coming from. There's no Second Lead Sydrome here. I guess maybe with a different actor? For example in Ashes of Love the second lead was so charismatic and kind of tragic. It's very rare nowadays to come across a second lead that's serious competition for the male lead.
Anyone else wary about the next few episodes ? It seems to be a lot of harem/ palace schemes judging from the trailers and I’m afraid it will make the story frustratingly bogged down in unnecessary drama.

The best thing would be a director’s cut though

I can only cross my fingers very hard then.
I so badly want to own a physical copy of LLTG. Best drama in years for me.
So much potential wasted.
