Anna is better at the crying scenes. I could sympathize with her and that street ballet dance was awesome! Also Chen Jia Xin’s mom was believable in her love for her daughter. YESSS destroy that painting and beat up that jerk! =P The grandma was adorbs and I enjoyed the OSTs. The original and korean version was more emotional though in the scene where she lost her baby. This one felt flat. In all versions I really hated why FL had to cross a busy street like that without looking. She should have just locked herself up in the bathroom or something! They were as much to blame as ML for losing their baby.
The FL never had a healthy self-esteem. She’s either super insecure or overconfident nonchalant and she never fought for ML in the way that Anna did. Darn why must hardworking women get cheated on like that :-/ I hate that part where she becomes desperate and switches their divorce agreements but that part where FL was cooking meals in her home and playing her for a fool while sleeping / being with Wang XiYi at nights is also detestable. Do not try to be her friend when you are secretly coveting her man!
As for the ML, he was so selfish from the start to have kept his gf in the dark just so she wouldn’t leave him when he is already married and having a baby with another woman. There was no excuse as he was communicating with her regularly and getting her hopes up for a dream wedding that was never going to happen. He was a liar and made a bunch of promises that he couldn’t keep so it’s really hard to like his character in any of the Fated to Love You dramas.
Also, the soap case had a better looking container than her dowry and they keep giving it back to her as bday gift 🤣 Really you can borrow coloring pens from the waiter at that kind of restaurant in Hungary? lol
Kudos to the ML cause he did not sound corny at all when he said “You are my destiny” near the end. :D They very much deserve each other.

Usually in cliche dramas there would be grand promises from the ML and some even have a wedding in there as Finale LOL But here there was none of that from Park Jaeeon so most people think that he will just cheat on her eventually!
Realistically, some people make all sorts of promises when they are in love but don’t keep them anyway so I actually liked that he does none of that since he wasn’t sure of his capacity to love, him growing up in an (implied) unstable family home where the mom prioritizes a career more and he was mostly lonely. I think he finds himself lacking and unworthy so he doesn’t try until Nabi. Also, a toxic person wouldn’t care at all about your feelings but you can see how pained he was whenever Nabi was hurting and with solid action (rather than just words) he helps her in those difficult moments like in her art and is always creating beautiful things for her to show his adoration.
I understand why some people hate the ML because the creators didn’t give any clear background or go at lengths to show how he has changed to become a better man worthy of Nabi. The style of narrating was that it’s up to the viewers to decide and fill in the pieces based on the cues that they were giving you. Like with that kind of open ending it’s up to anyone’s interpretation if the main couple will fizzle out / break up in the future or if they become stronger as they get closer and learn what it means to be in a healthy relationship. I personally go with the happier ending for them since he seems quite dedicated in pleasing her :D

They are much better actresses too IMO but who knows Zhao Lusi might just get better overtime if she chooses more challenging roles with better storylines. I LOVE Yang Mi and Zhao Liying. The genetics of the leads here will make you feel like a peasant. Watch this series if you enjoy seeing two perfect looking individuals (Barbie & Ken) romance one another. Mythology is filled with envious Gods, stories of vengeance, and families killing one another so I wouldn’t say that the creators of Ashes did a terrible job in their storytelling of that world and the conflict between brothers. It will be annoying as everyones rooting for the main characters but for me their depiction was pretty tame compared to the other Gods/Goddesses portrayals that I’ve seen and read, and I ENJOY the drama of it all :D I understand that not everyone will have the stomach for this, so it’s just not going to be everybodyyy’s cup of tea

Although I didn’t quite get why God of Chaos had to sacrifice themselves repeatedly after cultivating for many many years. Like it took a thousand years to get that spiritual power in the Underworld, and Bai Jue had to split his being, and the goal was just to accummulate and then die in the end? It’s like a double whammy of sacrifices since it was already a huuuge endeavor of suffering to aquire chaos power in the first place

YES! Spin-chase-flying by the waterfall with the lantern, phoenix flowers and fireworks - it was soo EXTRA but I’M LIVING FOR IT :D He def had bad intentions while drinking that osmanthus 🍷 wine and Jinmi didn’t even have a clue. LOL
It’s not only the intense eye gaze but the tone in which he would choose to say his lines too. At times he sorts of just whispers them but with so much feeling behind like anger / sadness. Really great acting by Deng Lun and It doesn’t hurt that he’s a total eye candy! Love that they didn’t gel up his hair with every strand in place as disheveled looks sooo good on him! :D Then again, the one in charge for their costumes was Oscar winning apparently that’s why they all looked fantastic.
Also, that scene with SAINT girl Jinmi in the dark lit room while they were watching that puppet show was a total mood. It was subtle and romantic. Creators behind the show really put their A-game and the other cast as well. Hope they get together again and create another one!
Darn. All these romantic xianxia series make you wish like your life was in some temporary tribulation right now and that you will soon wake up w/a Phoenix God waiting for You from a thousand yearsss ago! LOL

It’s okay. I respect other people’s take on it. For me I didn’t think he was selfish because he didn’t ditch her on purpose. He saw that the girl he liked (Lin You) was crying and he chose to comfort her rather than watch a movie. I don’t think they had cellphones in the earlier episodes because he even had to ask rocker guy to find Xiao Ju at the library to deliver a message for him so maybe that’s why he was unable to let her know that he had to cancel. I get why she was emotional but he did not deserve to be screamed at on the street and he still protected her from getting hit by that hot water. I actually finished the series already and on the later episodes Cheng Lang put his life in danger yet again again to retrieve her purse. He also supported his first love to pursue her dream and didn’t hold her back. His character seemed perfect and never selfish.

LOL like what did he even do except to ask if you have eaten already so he can buy you food. She only thinks of herself most of the time and is sooo inconsiderate.
