Have you seen the Kdrama: Joseon Attorney: A Morality? I’m only in the first few episodes but it explains a lot of how horrible the laws/rules were especially for women. And where the disdain against divorce comes from even in situations of abuse or male infidelity. It has been illuminating to how SK culture is where it is today.
