The show started off promising and i had expected something new (plot or narratives), but ultimately it fell back to typical K drama prison break and revenge trope since Mo Mi was put in jail..
Jewel in the Palace is my very first K drama, still remember i watched it with my mum. It is a long drama with 50+ eps and the story had been concluded well that I don't see the need for a sequel.
MDL is too nice in writing headlines, 4.2% is definitely a low and not a decent rating for a weekend drama on SBS, a public broadcaster. Even 7.4% on MBC isn't great too.
Countryside people normally give impression of being natural, laid back and comfortable, but ML didn't deliver that kind of vibe. He is an good actor but just may not suit that kind of role.
Am i the only one feel JCW's acting is bit over in this drama? He tried very hard to act an ordinary countryside man but seems had difficulty to immerse himself into the character, well...maybe he is too good looking for that role hahaha
You've read the webtoon? Is it like an actual superhero manhwa (like Superman/Spiderman type)?
Just briefly read online when the casting news was out, quite a refreshing take on the traditional superhero story. In terms of genre, i think it is a combination of slice of life, super powers and comedy. The ML's Girlfriend is a newly added character that doesn't exist in the webtoon btw.
Seems there is no love line in the original webtoon, they will add it in the TV adaptation or what? hope there is not much of it, an action-fantasy drama with social relevance narratives would be cool enough.
I haven't watch this drama yet, but I'm seeing how it has low ratings. Well, actually 3% is an average ratings…
3% in TvN is def low for weekend drama. Probably domestic viewers just don't like the genre. Disregard all the conspiracies, JTBC has been doing well in viewership this year also because they changed their lineup to more 'easy to watch' dramas such as Dr Cha, KTL etc. In the recent viewers conference, JTBC officials said they intentionally abandoned the prior approach of producing heavy, dark drama with low rating and changed to light dramas that are better accepted by the public and younger generation.
It is reported that "No Way Out" will change the male lead. Feel sorry for him and his career may probably end like that. He has been giving the public a good family man image and now this... My Mister is one of my favorite k drama of all time..sigh..
