I know we couldn't have 29 eps of just fluff and sweetness but I swear the conflicts better resolve fast. TOOL nation we're going to have to brace through it. No rainbow without rain right? This is the biggest challenge to their relationship yet and they're going to have to work through it to become better together. Without these SL's, they're not going to see how much they need each other. We're going to be throwing things at the screen I'm sure but in real life these misunderstandings do happen. Miscommunication happens in every kind of relationship. It's easy for us to say "Why don't you just talk and be honest" but add jealousy, insecurity, third wheels, pride to the mix and it's just not that straightforward. GuLin will need to mature and learn from this to come out stronger on the other side. I just need to hold on to my sanity until I lose it tomorrow LMAO.

Ep 12 (DVD version) Thoughts: I'm not ready for the misunderstandings in the upcoming episodes. Already know my heart is going to hurt. I love the scene at Gu Wei's apartment. In other dramas spending the night at your crush's house is probably just shown as being fluffy and pure sugar. But in here you can see a very realistic situation being portrayed. GW is a surgeon with a very busy, sometimes unpredictable schedule. He can't be with LZX all the time. His profession is about saving lives, so he always has to prioritize that. That's just something they have to work through in order for their relationship to work. Differences in age and profession are very realistic challenges that real-life couples face. Being able to overcome them is what will make a couple grow and better understand each other. I know that as a young college girl in love, it's very easy to feel insecure and that you're not "good enough." It's frustrating, but I get why LZX would feel there's a big gap between them. She even thinks he doesn't like her even though it's quite obvious he does! But when you're young and insecure and the guy hasn't confessed, you start to doubt everything. Shao Jiang needs to back off though. He thinks he can waltz back into her life about being gone for years and that she'll still be around for him? People change and will meet new people. She even told him she liked someone else. Also why be shady with taking the picture? If he's concerned, maybe just ask Mama Lin or LZX? He's not in the medical field so why sneak around? I felt so bad for Dr. Gu in the dinner scene. Mans was shooting flames from his eyes. LZX was obviously uncomfortable too and she kept looking at him. These two just need to admit their feelings and be honest with each other. Gonna brace myself for the next eps and pray that the conflicts resolve fast. I need to see GuLin happy and cute again or I'm shipping Shao Jiang back to wherever he came from. LOL.

Ep 11 (DVD version) Thoughts: The umbrella scene was so darn cute. Dr. Gu being such a fast thinker when he only took out one umbrella; I see and applaud you Dr. Gu! All the peeking at each other through the peephole this ep lol. LZX not being able to sit still due to jealousy when Gao Xi came over was hilarious. And obnoxiously playing the cello - this detail was so funny. I bet lots of musicians can relate to being loud with their instruments on purpose to annoy someone! I love how GW tactfully establishes boundaries with Gao Xi without hurting her feelings because she's a friend and coworker. But it's clear he's not romantically interested. The dream LZX had of him having a kid with Gao Xi felt like someone out of a Babies'R'Us commercial or something LOL. Her and her wild imagination. The breakfast scene was super sweet. You can see how she's the sunshine he needed in his life. Aaaaaand here comes the SML with the bigger-than-his-face shades from abroad with a manager en toute. From spoilers I already know we're in for some pain and angst. We can get through it!

I honestly didn't expect XZ and YZ to have such amazing chemistry but they have proven me so wrong. They play off each other so well and their chemistry is natural, realistic, and so heart-fluttering. I love all of LZX and GW's simple but adorable moments. I feel like I'm peeking into their actual lives. LZX is cute and chaotic but not in a pretentious or over-the-top way, and I think that's in part due to YZ's acting. She just injects so much charm, humor, and vibrancy into this role. XZ is winning my heart as GW. He's doing so great at showing all the different layers to GW and didn't just make him a one-sided, cold ML. Also I'm swooning over his visuals here. I can't imagine anyone else as LZX and GW but them.

Ep 10 (DVD version) thoughts: love Dr. Gu being respectful to his dad but also like "Hey look I really gotta go and do my thing." It's normal for children in Asia to live with their parents at least until they get married, and with him being the only child it's understandable his parents don't want him moving out. But he's also a grown ass man who needs personal space, so yesss to him making the decision to get out. The hotpot scene omg - poor LZX just wants to enjoy her food without all the body parts being explained to her XD. But then she succeeds in making GW eat so I say she's doing great lol. I found it so sweet how the first thing she things of when her neighbor moves out is that GW can move in. Love that she took time to prepare the apartment and write such a cute proposal. Also we got new OSTs y'all, so fun! GRRR at Gao Xi plotting things with his mom and rubbing it in LZX's face. Good thing LZX wasn't here for any of that. Also can we appreciate how quickly misunderstandings are resolved up to now? And make way for one of my favorite scenes ever in any romance drama - LZX waking up and seeing Dr. Gu is her neighbor. Like HELLO, if that were me I'd be like "I just freaking woke up are you trying to give me a heart attack?" Lol. It's so heart-fluttering and when GW smiles - AHHHHH my poor heart. XZ's smiles are killing me. Their stolen glances when he comes over - they are already so in love pleaseeee. LZX is just slow to realize. Also hahahahaha how she suddenly becomes shy and eats slowly - isn't that so relatable? The shopping scene had me smiling like a freaking fool throughout. They're already doing all these couple things and the romance hasn't even officially begun. How am I gonna survive then? This show is doing such a great job of balancing cute moments with super funny ones. I'm laughing so much. Again, why it works so well is that XZ and YZ have amazing chemistry. They are also great individually. We better get two eps tomorrow or I'm rioting!

Ep 9 Thoughts: This ep was pure comedy gold. I didn't think TOOL would be this funny but I've laughed so many times throughout the drama. I've never laughed this much watching cdramas before. I adore the apartment hunting scenes. LZX should be a real estate agent; she's a natural at it. And when Dr. Gu says she needs to take care of her hands because he's a fan, my heart was fluttering lol. That was so sweet of him. LZX bargaining with the agent to lower the rent was a hoot. I laughed so hard when she said GW's watch was fake. Poor guy is like, "What the heck I'm not broke." I continued to laugh like mad when Sansan made LZX realize GW likes her. YZ's comedic timing is spot on. Then her imagining Dr. Gu winking at her was a whole damn mood. Isn't that all of us? Now that Sansan planted the idea in her head, she's imagining all these things lol. And finally, I hate when people snoop around and read other people's emails without permission. Really Gao Xi? And then telling his parents about it. That is not respecting him at all. I really hope he speaks his mind to his parents and just does what he wants lol. So excited for tomorrow's new eps! This drama is my happy place. Can't believe I'm watching it after waiting almost three years. XZ and YZ are doing such a great job. The way they breathe life into their characters is just so spot-on. XZ's visuals are also on point lol (let me fangirl a bit here). I was dying to watch TOOL to see him in a modern romance drama and he's not letting me down.

Ep 8 thoughts: Dr. Gu getting fan-zoned is the new friend/brother zoned. He's so sweet for standing up for LZX though. I also love LZX's optimism. She gets upset that she couldn't play which is totally understandable, but doesn't let it bog her down for too long. Also, props to the scriptwriters for including the 183.6 cm detail which is also XZ's height LOL. The whole sequence of them walking home together was perfect. They played YZ's Liking Someone song (vocal version) which was super fitting. Even someone who can be oblivious like LZX realized that Gao Xi didn't like her. I cheered when Dr. Gu found her on the rooftop and invited her for lunch. Then LOL'ed when he only ordered porridge. Come on Dr. Gu, let your girl eat greasy food! Haha. Also him asking her to apartment hunt to pay back for the ruined jacket....nice move Dr. Gu.

I already know I'm gonna have withdrawal symptoms when this drama ends. Eps 8 and 9 were so freaking cute. I'm laughing, giggling, fangirling like a teenage girl lol. I expected TOOL to be a sweet romance drama but honestly it's exceeded my expectations so far. Didn't think it would be this charming, natural, and funny. Their chemistry is so good. Everything is flowing so well. OST is also super addicting. Getting XZ and YZ to sing is *chef's kiss*. More thoughts in spoiler.

About the background. The world today isn't the world of yesterday. Whether in China or Korea, and I am also sure…
oh yeah i agree with you. i don’t believe good acting is dependent upon having formal training. just that many chinese actors went to acting academy so that’s what i meant. there are different pathways like you said and what matters is what they showcase on screen

Ep 7 was all about the little details that speak so much about GuLin's developing relationship. This ep did things to my heart. I was laughing, giggling, fangirling in front of my screen like an idiot. I love the detail of her feeding him a potato chip and gahhhh the way Dr. Gu ate the chip playfully and turned to look at her, it was so casual and well done. The party scene with Qiuqiu was soooo clever. You see Gu Wei literally sandwiched between Gao Xi and LZX. Him choosing to eat the cake with a plastic fork instead of the special fork showed that he's been influenced by LZX and cares about her. Also Qiuqiu my best boy! I hope he appears again because this kid knows what's up. Dr. Gu is already so whipped for LZX. Then when she wanted to see the gift that Qiuqiu gave to him and he wouldn't let her - that was so cute! And how she didn't think the guy in her picture was Gu Wei LMAO. A small detail I literally squealed over was when GW lifts LZX's bangs and says her stitches will be removed and then smooths her hair. It was so casual yet intimate and I fangirled so hard. The removing the stiches scene had me in stitches. Their conversations are so heartwarming and natural. My poor doctor trying to drop all these hints and LZX being completely oblivious. Good that he's being clear about Gao Xi though. Also how they're texting, be still my heart. The fact that he gave her mom his private number, remembers her dad's chemo, and takes time out of his busy day to show up for the Lin family I think not only show that he likes Xiaoxiao, but that he's a very caring, dedicated doctor. Finally, lfjslfjsdlkfjsdlfsdjlkfs him accidentally sending the wrong text and LZX not understanding what the heck that meant. I know this is long but honestly I freaking love all the details in this episode. This drama is what I need right now.

Just watched ep 7. One of the things I admire most about XZ is that despite not having a formal acting background, he's able to make each role different and distinct. It's thanks to the nuances in his acting and expressions that Dr. Gu is not a one-dimensional, cold ML. He's already showing so many shifts/subtle changes in expression. I know this was filmed in 2019 and he's improved even more since then, but I'm honestly so happy that we get to finally watch him as Dr. Gu. To think he was only seriously acting for two years when OOL filmed. Mans has a natural talent for acting and an ability to be immersed in whatever role he plays. To top it all off, he is gorgeous. As a fangirl, he looks so good in the white coat and surgeon outfit!!

EP 6 was also great! Love the KFC scene and the relationship between LXZ and her dad. Then GW awkwardly trying to comfort her was so funny! He's doing his best and when he hugs her and starts petting her like a cat...I love him so much. YZ's crying impresses me once again; so real and natural. I've seen so many fake crying scenes in cdramas so her crying is always dependable. Also Dr. Gu casually asking about her bf...I see what you're doing there Lao Gu hehe. And how sweet is he to notice her air practicing the cello and suggesting she participate in the charity shows? I like that they have their own lives and dreams. LZX and GW exist as separate individuals while also being being great together. They're so freaking wholesome. Give me more!!!

Just finished ep 4 and 5, loving it more with each new ep. These two eps showed the development between LXZ's and GW's relationship so well, from misunderstanding (which they cleared up very quickly thank goodness) to a beautiful budding friendship. Such a natural progression that's just at the right pace so it feels like it can happen in real life, but not so slow that the scenes are wasted. I love that beside romance, the element of family is also important to the story. What's holding it all together is XZ's and YZ's acting. They make LXZ and GW come to life in the most authentic, sincere way. Can't wait to see their relationship progress.

Just finished eps 2-3 and can't wait until tomorrow! I wasn't expecting anything groundbreaking knowing the genre, but the atmosphere and acting of the leads are very natural. Enjoying the balance between serious and lighthearted. Pacing is also good so it doesn't feel draggy. I still can't believe after 2+ years I'm watching it, but it's worth the wait.
